My first troop and what an awesome experience it was, a long wait since December's approval but well worth it in the end. This was a two day event but I could only attend the Sunday.

Report:

The weary troopers moved into the venue at 8am. Spirits were soon lifted when our previous squad leader, John "Moo" McLean, was thanked and recognised for his tireless efforts over the last three years with an award being named in his honour. There wasn't a dry eye in the house and both of them belonged to Moo! Sarah and Monica were then called forth to be bestowed with the inaugural "Imperial Newbie" giant toothbrush. Both made themselves scarce when the giant dirty toilet was dragged into the pavilion, much to the disappointment of veteran troopers.

By the end of the briefing, the crowds were beginning to pour into the pavilion. Troops quickly kitted up and patrolled the queues and took up defensive positions around the bunker. Princess Leia (Liz), whom had escaped overnight, was again recaptured and forced to surrender her choc-coated cookies and pose for photos or be paraded around the venue with her hated imperial captors. The jawas were up to no good once again with one being found in possession with a biker scout's pistol and thermal detenator. Both insisted they had simply "found them". Troops kept a wary eye on them for the rest of the day.

Many younglings were keen to join the imperial forces and we were fortunate to have young Sarah "Noodle" McLean on hand to assist the younglings with the recruitment process for the Galactic Academy.

In a Desert Scorpion Squad first, a marriage proposal was caught on camera outside our bunker. James Moreno proposed to his girlfriend Jade and naturally she said "yes"! Troopers were on hand to congratulate the happy couple and we wish them a long and happy life together.

Massive crowds kept patrolling down to a minimum with the outside queue folding back on itself five times. It was rumoured that it was taking up to an hour to get into the venue such was the popularity of the event.

The second raffle proved as popular as the first with Stuart McKenny again being kind enough to draw the winning ticket. The winner was contacted by phone and quickly returned to the bunker to claim his prize.

At the end of the day celebrity guests were also very keen to have photos taken with the fighting 501st. David Nykl , Jason Momoa, Stuart McKenny, Teryl Rothery, Emilie Ullerup, Patricia Quinn, Eddie McClintock, Aaron Ashmore, Colin Ferguson and Callum Blue all posed with some very excited troopers.

With the day finally over, the money was counted and the bump out began in earnest. After a thorough count, we were once again thrilled to find that we had raised a total of $4882.20 for our charity of choice, Radio Lollipop. What a fantastic achievement. We all celebrated with biscuits kindly provided by ANFO's lovely wife and Liz.

Casualties: None, though many complained of sore feet andaching backs and many cookies will never see the light of day again.

Injuries: None

Armour Repairs: Juice dipped into his gaffer tape on morethan one occasion for his armour and also coming to the rescue of young Sarahwhen she had a Velcro blowout. Tristan lost a shoe, which we put down to Rebel treachery. Moo's E-11 blaster was damaged - again put down to Rebel treachery.

Happy People: Pretty much everyone

Unhappy People: There were some complaints to Oz Comic Con about photos not being online immediately after doors closed on Saturday. People had been told that photos would probably not be available until Wednesday at the latest but some had possibly forgotten this. We resolved to put a message on the download site for next time to avoid future confusion.

Mission Status: Complete

A happy group after collecting almost $5,000 for a local charity
