Spectre
Symmetrical? Stormtrooper armour? Lawl, those two things just don't go together, that's why. Seriously though, no idea.
rhapsodyred99[TK]
The original armor was sculpted on a body cast of an english actor by Brian Muir. Each part was hand crafted with no direct copying from Right to left. So each part is similar but subtly different on "real" Stormtrooper armor. As far as the biceps go the indention in one of them is a thumbprint in the mold. For whatever reason it was left there or perhaps put there on purpose. Edit: From RS Propmasters Webpage (they own a real TK Suit) The original Stormtrooper Armour was sculpted by Brian Muir in 1976 over a life cast of Dennis Plenty. The original “A New Hope†armour would go on to be reconditioned and reused in “The Empire Strikes back†with new armour created for “Return of the Jediâ€. Until RS Prop Masters offered this New Hope armour NO screen lineage armour was available from the first installment of Star Wars. The armour subsequently created for Return of the Jedi bares little resemblance to the original Stormtrooper, Sandtrooper or sculpture created by Brian. Side note: The Helmet was sculpted by Liz Moore: The Iconic Stormtrooper Helmet was sculpted by the very talented Liz Moore in 1976 before her tragic death. We are lucky enough to own one of the original “Stunt†helmets created for the first Star Wars movie from her sculpture, which we painstakingly created an exact 1:1 replica of. This is a fantastic helmet and now made available to the replica Prop and costuming community. This helmet is a favorite for many replica prop collectors as our version maintains many of the the details lost or removed from other original helmet replicas. This also makes it popular with 501st Legion members who know the difference between this helmet and others available and want the most accurate possible. The original helmet is retained in the RS Archive, which allowed us to lavish as much time as required to create the moulds to capture and create this stunning replica. Not trying to Be an RS posterboy, the information is just readily available from their site Edited January 7, 2013 by rhapsodyred99

Sonnenschein
But you can often see, for example, 2 right or 2 left biceps on a trooper in the movies. On a ATA (or similar armor) the left is rather small, so some people order a second right set Edited January 7, 2013 by Sonnenschein
