27555[TK]
I'm getting AP armor, and I wanted to paint the inside of my bucket, (Before trimming so it's not such a mess) Any recommendations as far as Spray paint? Ladyinwhite made a good point to me that the smell may be over whelming. So, any suggestions? I didn't find anything searching the forums. I wonder if anyone here has ... http://www.homedepot...pray-98266.html Hivemind much? Spot on same thing I was thinking instead of paint. I found this at Michael's though. matt black
I used Simonize primer and satin black in mine. Key up the plastic first with a scotch pad. Dry and odor free in a couple of hours.
TK bondservnt[501st]
I think it would make the helmet darker from the outside a little? does it affect the color in photos from the outside?
matt black
Not at all that I can notice. When you are wearing the helmet it is dark inside it so it should not make any real difference.

Beren[501st]
Here's my helmet. I used Krylon gloss black from the home supply store and didn't notice the paint smell after a few days. -------- Edited December 22, 2021 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed
Sonnenschein
Not at all that I can notice. When you are wearing the helmet it is dark inside it so it should not make any real difference. Then, why do it in the first place?
matt black
Because I prefer the look of a helmet when it has a black interior to white. Just personal choice.
27555[TK]
Because I prefer the look of a helmet when it has a black interior to white. Just personal choice. Same here, I thought maybe a white bucket would light up my face, and may be visible through the lens but i'm probably knit picking.
matt black
Probably not as the lenses are pretty dark. I think the black makes it look like a more 'real world' helmet. I also think it looks nicer if someone asks to take a look at your bucket.

27555[TK]
Think I'm going to go with the rubber spray, Easy on, easy off. Besides I don't want black paint rubbing onto my face haha.
Darth Voorhees[501st]
I always do mine flatblack. I use krylon black primer. I like it cuz it does actually reduce a bit of glare. I also like the look.
anphrax[TK]
I've heard people use the rubber spray stuff, truck bed liner spray, rattle can, etc. I guess a lot of people do it so when kids look up in all the see is black
dashrazor
i used truck bed liner in mine, no smell after a few days of drying
OsotheBear
Have anyone used rustoleum hammered black???I bought a can for the blaster and I bet I'm gonna have a bunch left
dashrazor
i use the hammered rustolium on blasters but it might be too glossy/reflective on the inside of a bucket.
OsotheBear
True that, maybe it will have to be sprayed with a flat coat but that's an extra step, maybe the rubber finish is a better option

xapologiesx[TK]
I'm curious how many people painted before cutting and if you had issues with paint/rubber chipping once you started the cutting?
Darth Hilarious
Black-inside buckets are really good if you don't use a balaclava. You know how visible skin ruins a TK? (everyone, yeah?) And you know how small children tend to be, well, small? And you know what angle they tend to look at us from...
