Visible snap?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me if the ANH stunt TKs had a visible snap on the underside of the crotch cup? Ive seen some mention of this as being screen accurate. Basically should I use a snap plate glued to the inside or just snap iot through without?

i dont see it..? blink.gif

You won't see it on screen either.

The real suits had brad holding the crotch strap in place, not a snap. They had two male snaps on the butt plate facing inside with one female snap on the strap.

So, that's the way to do it if you want to go screen accurate :)

oh... he was referring to masons screen cap collection? i've got that downloaded... great reference for builds. :) but yeah, in that grouping i dont know of a shot that Paul was referring to. maybe we can find some behind the scene shots that'd help clarify this....

ok so

1: what's this a pic from?

2: there's a male snap built into the armor in the bottom of the cup, and two in the butt plate?

3: why two in the butt plate?

4: just a regular strap to connect them with three female snaps?

5: where does the chat come in?

:P sorry, but that should cover everything. lol

1. Pic is from the LFL archives of REAL stormtrooper torso armour.

2. There's a BRAD holding the elsatic strap in cod cup and two male snaps on the butt plate (note size differences between butt and cod fixings)

3. Two snaps allow some adjustment as there is only one female snap on the strap.

4. Two male snaps on the butt plate and one female on the elastic strap. There are old style 's' spring snaps, not modern camping snaps.

5. No idea what your talking about

I think they used brads on the ab section too. I think split rivets are too heavy duty and very tricky to fit into the delicate armour.

Maybe something like this could have been used on some of them then,

haha. thanks. btw the "chat" i asked about, was SUPPOSED to say brad. haha :P i couldnt tell ya how that typo happened.

that really makes since though. i might actually look into doing something similar to my suit. i'm not really a "screen accurate" guy, with my AM i like the term "fan sculpt" ;) haha

You've been listening to AA haven't you :)

I've never seen any original helmets assembled with brads. I have seen AA use the to build his replicas though, but I personally wouldn't use them.

I knew I had seen them somewhere.

I will now go off to the barn and quietly shoot myself. ( being taken in by some poo AA has uttered! The shame, the shame!! :( ).

That's okay, Matt. You're a TK, you'll miss. ;)
