New name for Deployement

Recommended Posts

Elite has been added to the roster. Any other ideas? Thread closes Friday night, and then the poll will be open. Last chance to get your suggestions in guys!!!

Thanks for reading this and the interest. I would love to see more members post their ideas, since we have a rather large collection of TK's, but not a large representation of posters. Feel free to chime in and offer up your ideas.

Here's to many more ideas!!

For FISD TK's call them:

Tantive Invasion Force which is FISD ANH Deployed

Cloud City Enforcers which is FISD ESD Deployed

Endor Shield Security which is FISD ROTJ Deployed

I like this, but it's pretty long. I hate the term "deployed" by itself as it's so generic. Veteran... well let's just say TK's don't exactly have a reputation to be much in the way of survivors...

Butah,

Great point, my example was meant to draw upon the usage of Deployed as was generated by MEPD. But, we need three versions for the three movies.

The naming convention is what is more relevant, aka "Enforcers", "Security", Elite, etc. Those names will be used versus "Mark." My example to relate those names to what they represents FISD xxx Deployed.

Folks please remember that each movie could have its own name representing deployment. MEPD Deployed is specific to the sand troopers being Police Officers of Mos Eisley, hence they are deployed PO's.

I have to agree that Elite could have its drawbacks with perception of what we are creating. Let's try and shy away from that. Also anything that sounds like Legion may offend those in the Legion but not TK's.

I must be getting old because I'm drawing blanks here for ideas. Let me just say that the whole idea seemed to be to create a film accurate TK. I don't recall there being much said of creating a new squad or something. And I use the word squad for a lack of a better one for now. Just a new level for the TK costume to rise to. It allso seems to me that we should be a little, hate to use this phrase, "PC".

SO, how about this for an idea?

"FATKANH"........For Film Accurate TK A New Hope and so on.

FATKESB

FATKROTJ

I like that anyone not in, "the loop" would be woundering what the heck it might stand for :P

OK, now I'v had my fun so I will just go back to bed now ;)

In the spirit of the original intention of the thread, Elite will stay as an option, as we had a suggestion and two people "agree" with it. At this time, we only have a few suggestions, so everyone better get it cranked up. Just so everyone is aware, I am planning to include "Mark" as a poll option, since it was what we had already, and there WILL NOT be an "other" option.

Also, if we have a close race, majority wins even if it is by one vote. I was very disappointed in the 501st photo shoot complaints at C IV because the vote for AM vs. PM were close on the timing of the picture. I know not everyone will be OK with whatever option we choose here, but since we all get 1 voice (should we choose to use it), we should get the selection that appeals to the largest audience.

Now, let's hear a few more great ideas!!!

While I originally liked the ANH/ESB/ROTJ Deployed nomenclature, this variant is better because it highlights the detachment (FISD) in the title. This draws attention to and emphasizes our detachment. We still need to create more awareness within the Legion, so "branding" the title is a good idea. The "deployed" term is consistent with our dirty brothers, and I don't think we need to differentiate ourselves by attempting to use a different word (like "elite" or "veteran"). The Tantive/Bespin/Endor descriptor uses a location/assignment, which is better than using a movie title to differentiate the costume variant. So I am now ready to vote. :duim:

You know, I think I really like this - even better than my "combat ready" - although we could have a general and unofficial "combat ready" status. Even if its just something we use to denote we're done with our respective deployment status (maybe it could be the name of the forum for approved and complete standard costumes: the "Combat Ready" forum...) Ok, what ever.

Back our regularly scheduled programming... :P

Joey,

Great idea. The email just went out. Hopefully Comcast won't treat it as spam and send me a nasty gram. I will be looking for new views and posts soon.

Having been in the Military these are very miltaristic in nature. (shrug...sorry)

I like the number scheme that the Clones have... 327th, etc.

How are these titles allocated? Number of posts, events? Geography?

Myself, I like to sign posts and emails like so:

Ian Wilkinson

TK-1420

501st Legion, Star Garrison STX Squad

Dunno what else there is to add. Seems to me the Empire might not want a lot of detail about where a trooper is deployed or has been at.

I like "FISD Elite"

That being said, I'll be happy with whatever prevails here, so long as it's not "Pink Tutu Wearer" or something like that, lol.

So is there a list of the serious choices yet? There have been some good ones mentioned and some that make you say “uhmmm…”

What are the contenders so we can see them all in one spot with their variations? That makes it easier to see what is out there and may spark some new creativity. :D

Well I thought 'cohort' was a good idea in the earlier thread in keeping with the legion aspect and Lucas's derivative use of Roman or fascist

tones in the storyline. However I think people are more familiar with its contemporary usage (ie. sidekick, partner in crime, etc..) instead of the original meaning:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cohort_%28military_unit%29

Incidentally, the US Army in the 80's had a program to increase unit cohesion called Cohesion, Operational Readiness and Training with COHORT as an acronym (I know, all the letters don't match but that's military speak).

So as examples:

ANH Cohort

ESB Cohort

ROTJ Cohort

My other suggestion would be 'Bone-white Janissaries of Death' :D
