I know I want it dirty - natural weathering looks more real close up, weathering it the way I did the helmet will make it look worn and old in no time... tough decision! But I guess it has to look good for trooping so best to let it weather naturally. I did wear a set of my latex handguards for some of the pics, but the only set I have ready right now is glued to a pair of gloves that is a bit too small for me... no fun wearing those! stukatrooper Posted April 12, 2010 Report Share Posted April 12, 2010 Good little tip for non lasting weathering is to rub the suit with cheap newspaper,for the scuff marks use some rubber neck trim gives some great FX and reversable.top suit my friend and a great photo shoot. R2Dan[TK] Posted April 12, 2010 Author Report Share Posted April 12, 2010 (edited) Yeah, rubber trim would work - but my hyperfirm E-11 is doing a great job leaving scuff marks already I really try not to be overly careful, so it's starting to dirty up already, but nowhere near to what we see on screen yet. A lot of the weathering on the Dave M replica helmet there was done with crayons by the way - back to the (kindergarden) roots! You don't have to go crazy with the weathering, something like this guy on the left would be perfect. I've gazed at that pic for ages already, pondering wether I should just go for it. It looks really nice! I've been there before, when I had that jumbo toy R2-D2 and felt it needed dirt... took time to actually do it though. But now that I have done it, I would never go back - it's probably the same with the TK. Regular trooping dirt (natural weathering, if you will) just doesn't have the same effect some of the Tantive IV TKs show. But the way your Hyperfirm left marks on your armor would be a great start. After JediCon, my armor was a little scuffed up as well (you saw what my holstered blaster did to my left calf armor!) and I'm lovin' it! I´ve seen hundreds of pictures and Paul knows i followed his ANH suit from the very beginning but i wasn´t fortunate enough to see a TM suit with my own eyes yet! Judging by the pictures it´s definatly one of the best suits i´ve seen so far! Great work, mate! btw. I´ve seen your Dave M. helmet at Jedi-Con, what a beauty! Crayon sounds a good idea,last week i washedmy suit over with black Acrylic after it was dry i took it off with scrunched up news paper 99%,the 1% that was left looks fantastic with very fine black lines.
