  1. There isn't one, not many purchased TKUK as it didn't meet 501st approval. You can find more info on TKUK, use the forum search function and type in TKUK.
  2. Hey all, SL/RC 97424 here from Oregon looking to add a 4th approved costume to my list. I am starting out with a TKUK Kit. I am on a budget and wanted to get started though I know I will need to replace the helmet. Why the hero? One word ... lightsaber. That and I actually like the hero helmet a bit better. New to stormtroopers so any suggestion or resources are much appreciated. As for the something extra, I picked up a first order battle buddy a while back so I am tackling my armor and some for my 4 year old son at the same time.
  3. Where is this TKUK builders group? Will someone provide a link please?

  5. Where, What and Whom To Avoid When Buying When new to buying armor and products, there is certainly "a wretched hive of scum and villainy" and Rancor pits out there, or in other words what and who you need to avoid when purchasing armor and other products. This advice will help you to avoid lot of headaches and over spending. When Paying For Any Product and/or Services: PayPal is always going to be a safe way to send any payment. However, you must understand NEVER to send any payment via the "Gift" option for any product, work or services. PayPal will not cover any transaction under the "Gift" option at all. Always use the"Goods and Services", option when sending payment so that you have recourse through PayPal if any problems should arise during or after the transaction NOTE: You have a 90 window with PayPal to file a dispute/claim. Never send cash and/or money orders. These can easily be lost and never the reach the proper person. Plus you have no record for any recourse. Anovos: Anovos are now officially defunct At one time this armorer was considered reputable and sold relatively inexpensive kits that were capable of being approved all the way to Centurion level. However, in the last year or so the customer service is such that people have been waiting 18 months (and longer) for delivery, the price has skyrocketed and the communication is terrible. All sales are final. No refunds. As of this time they are currently involved in a class action lawsuit so are therefore not recommended at this time. Rubies Supreme Stormtrooper Costume: Even though the Rubies TK armor is licensed by Lucas Films, it is not acceptable for Legion membership without a LOT of work and putting a LOT more money and time into it. The average price for a Rubies Supreme Stormtrooper Costume is $400USD (305 Euros) to $700USD (535 Euros). But, after you factor in that you will have to purchase a replacement helmet, buy supplies to modify the armor, all this, just to get the Rubies TK armor up to Legion standards. It would be cheaper and easier for you to start with a new armor kit. There have been a few members that have done Rubies with all the upgrades, but afterwards said they spent a lot of time and money and will be looking into a different suit of armor next. RE-CASTING What exactly is re-casting? Re-casting/caster is a term used for an unscrupulous person who uses a quality set of armor to make copies in order to sell them at a discounted price. The original armorers spend hundreds of hours and in many cases thousands of dollars to sculpt quality molds, known as "bucks". Re-casters simply use the completed pieces to make counterfeit molds. These are more often than not inferior products that do not have the clean, crisp details required for 501st approval and for that reason we discourage you from purchasing them. Other reasons why not to consider re-cast armor: 1. First, the quality and customer service are not there. It may look like you are getting a great deal because of the price and/or possibly faster delivery time frame and you are eager to get started on your TK build as soon as possible, but this is often not the case.2. 99% of the time, the product will be made out of sub-standard material that will not withstand trooping or may even arrive at your door step with problems to begin with. Then that "good deal" turns into a money pit. You will end up spending even more hard earned cash and time trying to fix or this now "not so good deal" than if you had taken the money that you spent on the re-cast trying to get it up to 501st approval level and applied it to a product from a reputable vendor.3. Re-casting is basically stealing. I would hope that no one here condones stealing. If you have a question about whether or not a kit is a re-cast, we encourage you to ask here before purchasing. Websites and individuals: There are also certain sellers and websites that need to be avoided because of how that individual conducts themselves. Take for instance Star Fortress is run by a known pedophile and for bad product. TE is known for the way he conducts business and is also known for failing to ship product even months after payment was made. Ebay: Avoid kits on Ebay for the reason that was mentioned above, since they are 99.9% re-cast. Have Jedi patience. Save yourself the headaches and money loss by avoiding any dealings with re-casters and unscrupulous people and websites. It will save you a lot of headaches and money.
  6. So I found some armor made by TKUK but I haven’t heard anything about them does anybody know anything
  7. Since there are lots of discussions going on about TKUK atm - here and on facebook, I will tell you about my experiences with the armor and the makers. At first I want to set clear that TKarmor.com (AM) is not the same as TKarmour.com (TKUK) But TKarmour.com (alias TKUK) is the same as stormtroopercity.com To begin my story: Nearly 6 years ago, I purchased a TK ANH Stunt armor on eBay. Unfortunately I didn't know the FISD by then and I had no experience at all. So I made the mistake, bought it and later found out, that it was an armor FX recast. There was a print on the BBB, saying it comes from "stormtroopercity.com" After I discovered the 501st Legion (especially the German Garrison and the FISD), I got some help here'n'there to build my kit up to approval. (of course I had to get another helmet...) Here in the FISD I asked whether anyone knew the maker and Joseph from Stormtroopercity reported to me, that he and his friend David (Ashcroft) are making that armor. By then, they already had developed a new mold for the helmet and he was willing to send me one for free. Not only that - they were also making their own molds to improve the armor (that's what he told me). At that time, one of my friends ordered the Stormtroopercity/TKUK armor. It was a kind of "in between development version". I compared it to my Anovos kit and my old FX armor and I was impressed about the development. (FX - TKUK - Anovos) So I encouraged him to make more changes to make it a reputable, good looking armor. That's what they did. Unfortunately accuracy is still not top notch and quality got lost due to thinner material. Two other friends ordered the actual kit, TKUK is selling right now - The armor is looking good, but you can clearly feel the lack of quality. Pulls are not clean, some parts are too thin, so they easily crack and so on. I've heard people rumoring, this was an SDS recast (because of the long chest plate...) - what I have been told, it is not. It's an evolved FX kit with losing quality on the material, but gaining accuracy and for a cheap price. Here is a comparison of the 3 different abplates they've sold over the time: apart from the missing buttons it's hard to find similarities with the FX and the new armor So in my opinion it's not a rip off if you know what you buy: It's definitely not high quality, but cheap and to be honest - good enough for approval (Higher ranks are another topic....) Anyhow your goal should be a high end armor, so I personally would chose other makers nowadays. If anyone knows better about that armor or the makers, please let me know! I'm not the wisest man in the universe and I'm willing to learn. Here is a shoot of one of my friends in his TKUK armor. P.S. I'm not related to TKUK nore am I working for them - I didn't even meet them in person, we just messaged here on the FISD... But I've made my experiences (good and bad) and want to share them with you guys. Best regards, Danny TK-55550
  8. Thankyou for your feed back. I'll try my best to get these changes addressed. The back of the thighs arnt all glued down as they come apart so I can put them on. You were right on the money with it being from tkuk. I wasn't 100% sure where to stop the trims on the belt or shoulder straps. But your diagram helped alot. Thermal detonator is easy to fix. And like I said the bicep connector broke when I took the photo, that's why it's backwards. (Fixed now) Im only going for basic. Don't have the time or luxury to go any further. Thankyou again
  9. Hi Luke, Welcome to the FISD. Great advice from Glen and the others. If you are not already, I would make sure that you have shared your progress with your local Garrison. Your local Garrison’s GML will be the one that has final say over what will pass at basic level. Secondly, I’d recommend having a read of this from one of the best Star Wars websites around. It gives you a really good insight into the original armour and helmet props: http://www.starwarshelmets.com/original-stormtrooper-helmets-sub-submenu.htm Here’s some things I spotted that you could consider addressing, depending on how accurate you’d like to aim for. Firstly, in your latest photos, your right bicep is facing the wrong way. This is a simple fix. As a longer term fix, you could consider an internal connection between the should bell and the bicep - this would help keep them aligned. With regards to the helmet, it will likely pass at basic level, however, there are some tweaks you could make if you wanted to. One of them is the vocoder paint. Here’s examples of Stunt helmets and how the vocoder is usually a little “fuller” for A New Hope Stunt helmets. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/48252-anh-tk-vocoder-examples/ From the top down, your shoulder bridges have a lot of excess plastic on them. Personally, I’d trim them approximately as below: Reference: Same for the back. At minimum, I would trim to the red lines: The original thermal detonators had the metal clips right out to the edges, touching the plastic white end caps. This could also be a consideration: Reference: Your holster is currently hanging very low. This would usually be less than a few centimetres between the bottom of the fabric belt and the top of the holster itself: Reference: The butt plate on your kit (is it TKUK?) is quite large and not very shaped. As below, you could consider trimming it to follow the shape of the originals: (approximately marked below) The main plastic belt should have 45° corners, approximately as below: Reference Looking at your rear thigh coverstrips, it looks like they might not be quite glued down fully. As I mentioned at the top, I’d definitely speak with your Garrison and/or GML to see how many of these changes they “require” for basic and how many of them are optional improvements. As always with these things, the final level of detail is down to the builder. :-) Hope these suggestions are helpful, Best wishes CableGuy Dan
  10. I just saw a guy in the message board asking about TKUK kits.... Let me use thus as a thread-bump. Before I knew better, I bought the famous BOGO kits from TKUK.... 8 months later and a hard lesson learned, I bought an AP kit and got myself approved. The TKUK kits are flimsy, faulty, and generally poor quality. Both of the TKUK kits I bought are either going to be spare parts or slowly being turned into ABS paste. Here one of the 4 shin pieces I got from them (the other 3 looked the same) Poor molds? Recast? I don’t know but they are junk. Steer clear. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Hi Aris, Welcome aboard. I’m sure many of the UK sellers would ship to you. We have some of the best kits in the world coming from the UK so it’s an amazing time to be looking at joining the world of Stormtroopers. :-) The vetted sellers that you mentioned would offer more accurate armour than TKUK. This is not me being mean, just a fact when comparing the various vendors. However, TKUK kits ARE cheap and they can be cleared for 501st use of done correctly. If you can, try joining your local 501st Garrison forum and see if there are any build threads. This might show you some of the extra work that can be required to clear this kit (specifically the 3 piece helmet). Check out the TKUK Facebook page for examples of their kits, compare with screen used and other vendors, then see if the price and quality meets your expectations. In reality, if Joe Public sees a TKUK Stormtrooper, it still looks like a Stormtrooper to most people - it just depends how far you personally want to take it. It all comes down to personal goals/budget/preference etc. :-) Hopefully you can reach out to your local Garrison and see what they suggest. Best wishes Dan
  12. Hi James, Exciting times. Best of luck with your build. :-) Just a couple of things; • be cautious of the colour match if you’re using a different make of helmet. TKUK is inherently blue (for some reason) so is a tricky match • check other TKUK builds for tips on how to get around some of its unique features for the best appearance. Joining the TKUK builders group might be advisable for additional support Best wishes Dan
  13. Ok everybody. I would like to set the record correct here. Tom arranged with his friend to order a pair of armour kits from TKUK through a 3rd person. That 3rd person was Ryan. So I had an order from Ryan and Ryan only. I had a few messages from Tom and another guy for the next few days asking if I had received their order, now I have to go through my list to check and there was no order from Tom or his Friend. It turned out it was an order from Ryan that had ordered for the 2 of them. OK confusion over with as It was Ryan I spoke to from then onwards. Now they had ordered through Ryan on or about the 23rd of November 2017. At this stage I was clearing out the last of my 2017 model armour kits for which I had sold 550 of them. The last 50 have been donated to another cause. I had packed the last of the 2017 armour kits and booked them with the courier but did not seal up the boxes as there was a part missing that I was waiting for. Unfortunately as I work all over the world I have to go away and leave things to others to finish up for me sometimes. The parts didnt arrive that I was waiting for so I informed Ryan of this. As Ryan said the guys that bought it had a deadline then I offered to send a fully assembled armour kit free of charge immediately as I hold these in stock. So he agreed to the assembled set then turned around and said they dont want the assembled set. So then I offered a 100% refund or an upgrade to the 2018 armour kit for free as the price has gone up 15%. This was debated between Ryan and the 2 guys that ordered the armour through him. Eventually they agreed to take the old Black armour and the white 2018 armour, this was delivered end of January 2018. (I sent out 250 armour kits in January alone). The armour kits had arrived and Ryan said they were happy with the older model black armour but not happy with the new 2018 white armour as they said the back part was not straight and was not passable. I explained that the white armour was quite different to the black armour they had as I have changed many of the moulds. The also complained that the sandtrooper parts were not included in the box which was clearly a misunderstanding of my options that are available with the 2018 armour kits. I was asked for a refund so I told Ryan to return it as they had already opened a Paypal case against me for not receiving it. When I received the box and had checked it I issued the refund through Paypal. TKUK trades in all countries and delivers to all countries so to make it easy for people we quote and charge in the reserve currency, the US$. Ryan had purchased an item for $739 US Dollars but he is located in England therefor GBP was taken from his account. I refunded him 100% of the money he paid. That due to currency change made him get less in GBP than he paid. TKUK is a Limited company and needs to have accounts for every penny of expenditure and documentary evidence of it. I needed to consult my accountant as to how I can issue extra funds to compensate the 64 GBP that Ryan had lost in the currency change. I looked at the Facebook pages of the 2 friends of Ryan and they planned to do Zombie troopers with the armour kits, so easy for me I offered him 2 less than perfect armour kits for free so they can make the Zombie troopers out of them. They declined so I paid to Ryan a 64 GBP goodwill payment in cash instead. So to summarise, yes I was having too many orders going through for me to handle at that time as I was in different continents each week getting armour kits to guys around the world. And No nobody was ripped off or got less than what they paid for. This is true now and always. I never have ripped off anyone! I think as there was TKUK, then to Ryan, then to Tom and his mate some of my generous offers of compensation or so of the details may have been missed. I have a Facebook group that has 550 buyers in from my 2017 armour and over 150 from my 2018 armour kits. Im sure if you want fact then you can find it from one of those buyers with 1st hand experience
  14. I think Tim mixed some things up here... TKUK and the First Order Recasters are different people But yes, TKUK did the Boogiestorm armor Anyway that doesn't mean a thing. What you receive when ordering doesn't look at all like the boogiestorm crap. If you consider buying from TKUK, I'd be honest and tell you that there are better armors out there. In both topics - quality and accuracy. That doesn't mean the TKUK armor is bad - it's just cheap and that's what you get. Other armors will last longer and are more accurate - on your costs. So as conclusion: TKUK is not a rip off. But be aware and know exactly what you want to buy.
  15. Not from TKUK. TKUK uses ABS not fiberglass. And these parts are nothing like a TKUK kit
  16. Hi guys,,, Ive built this armor now a few times, My experience with the armor is pretty good seeing that Ive had 6 kits shipped to my house in the last year. The first box of 2 was for my sick friend to get him approved to the 501st and he is now officially TK76101 of the Canadian garrison. The kit was so good infarct that I got another one for myself and 3 other people who looked at, touched and felt that armor, They looked at my SDS armor, looked at the TKUK kit, did research and all decided that Davids kits are the best bang for your buck if you want to be a stormtrooper. Is it flawless? No, but is any armor? My experience with David and his company has been nothing but excellent. His customer service is the best of any company Ive ever dealt with in my entire life. He is always available...he is always on top of his shipments, and will bend over backwards for his customers. Seriously what else can you possible ask of of a company, Decent product that's accurate at a good cost that has amazing customer service... Its a no brainer to me. If anyone has any questions regarding this armor... Id be happy to help. I do not work for David or TKUK in any way. Im just a customer.. I am a member of the facebook group for TKUK, where lots of happy members are building and helping each other build without the drama or armor bashing that sometimes goes on in in some forums. I am again happy to speak with any of you who are on the fence about buying this armor or interested in taking to someone who has purchased 6 of these kits and can speak first hand about the quality. Cheers guys... and just remember......... we are all just plastic space men.

  18. Welcome aboard, Tom. Great to have you join the FISD. [emoji1309] I’m a UK Garrison stormtrooper and armourer and we’ll be more than happy to help you on your journey, as will the global stormtrooper family here at the FISD. As you’ll be joining the 501st with the UK Garrison, I’d suggest you sign up on the UKGarrison.co.uk forum, too. When you choose your suit of armour, you can then start your own work in progress (WIP) thread and myself or another armourer will be assigned to help you through your build. Speaking of which, here’s a great place of information for the various armour makers out there. You’ll see many here are UK based, with others from around the world; https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ The list above are tried and tested by troopers around the world. Personally, I’d highly recommend staying away from Jedi Robe, SDS (original stormtrooper) and TKUK. Here’s some tips of becoming a stormtrooper; https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/30456-how-to-join-the-501st-legion-as-an-imperial-stormtrooper-tk/ I won’t bombard you with more links at the moment. Take it step by step. Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Best wishes Dan / CableGuy / TK42911
  19. I think the guys have pretty much summed it up. The person who supplied the armour that Boggy storm wears is called TKUK, he is not on our reputable vendors list but if you are looking for something to dance in and not for 501st approval that you can modify further to give that kind of range of movement, it may be your cheapest option. I'm sure this guy is found on ebay.
  20. Hiya, This is what I followed for the belt, drop boxes and holster attachment. ***Ignore the holster attachment if you’re going ESB*** https://youtu.be/ivNMQMcfaBU Be advised: I believe that TKUK mold the three “buttons” into the belt (annoyingly) rather than three separate parts. As such, I would check out some other TKUK builds to see how others got around this issue. Example of the belt buttons/tabs: Also, I would check with your GML as to whether the pleated belt provided will be clearable. The originals were not pleated. Example picture below of he fabric part of the belt - note that this one is missing the button: Best wishes Dan
  21. TKUK is a good choice, mine is from this vendor and have no issues. Looking your build trooper!
  22. Hello everyone! I've been lurking on the forum for... wow, nearly ten years, and I've finally got around to starting serious thought about a TK build. A friend of a friend of a friend has a 2017 TKUK kit that he's parting with and I wondered what the mood on them was now - I recall a while ago that they weren't recommended but as far as I can tell that was on the basis of customer service rather than armour quality. Anyway, I'm looking forward to finally getting started!
  23. Welcome to the FISD George, you should be fine for approval using a TKUK kit, post some pics if you have any and it's always a good idea to checkin with your local garrison/outpost for a confirmation as their GML will be able to provide some in person advice. Good luck with your build. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
  24. Glad you're getting off the fence George you won't be disappointed once you put some armor on! As far as TKUK I have no idea what that is but if you give it a moment some other more helpful trooper will probably be able to shine some light on the subject.
  25. Hey trooper, Welcome aboard. :-) To save you a lot of regret down the line, I’d highly, highly recommend staying away from TKUK. The actual plastic armour moulds (shape, size, colour) are far from accurate. Try this list of vetted sellers: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ Any questions, just shout. :-) Dan
