  1. Hoe gaat het? Well, I think you should look at the big picture here. There is only one fan-made armour in Europe that I know of, TM (maybe there's more, but I don't know others.) The rest are most probably recasts. So, unless you want to look like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, you either buy from TM or an american maker. If you buy from a reseller he'll sell you the armor with that 20% you don't want to pay. Either you pay for customs or the reseller does, but someone's got to pay... You can also buy from AA/SDS, but the armour is pretty expensive. You say you want an FX, is that because of some specific reason? If that's because you're a tall/big guy then you have the option of an FX or an RT-MOD. As Nathan said, you can get one of those from time to time from actual Garrison members. But don't look for a site or an eBay store, those are filled with recasts that will make you one soft tropper. Have you tried contacting the Dutch Garrison? They can surely help you find a solution. Doei!
  2. Oh!, great. That explains it. I'm more on the Mark Hamill side. I'm just 5' 8''
  3. No, not really. Sorry! (Don't worry, I'm not a gossip kind of person and really don't want to know what happened.) I just happened to search on Google "stormtrooper sydney opera house" and that happened to be one of the images that came up. Sorry for bringing back bad memories.
  4. Yes! Definitively! Something like this:
  5. That's just great Mark! I'd love to see you with the TM helmet. I hope you don't mind, but I wanted to know how tall are you?
  6. Greg, just in case you haven't seen it, here is a tutorial by Stukatrooper that will give you a clear idea of all the steps needed to assemble and paint an armor: AP STORMTROOPER BUILD 2008 I believe this is one of the best guides out there, and I'm going to use it as a reference for my AP build (but most screen accurate armors are similar, so it's valid also for the TE2). You asked about what makes TE2 so special, and I think TK-1336 has the answers: TE2 armor If you want a TE2 specific reference, TK-4510 on these very same forums is a great step-by-step: TE2 Stunt build up , You dont wanna miss this! Maybe you know all of this info, but I wanted to put it here just in case, and also for other people to know. Cheers.
  7. Are you shure those Space Eggs are competent at taking measurements?
  8. It's looking great Miranda! I'd like to know how the hip section turns out, but I'm confident you'll look great in that armor. :)7 What helmet are you going to use? That MR you have there or the one you're going to get from the trade of the Vader helmet? (Is the trade one an AP?)
  9. My boots, my boots, my boots are OK! I just dyed mines too. I used a shoe dye & auto-shine product. It came with a prepare product that smelled like isopropyl alcohol, so I'm not shure if the dye is going to stay there for long. If it starts to peel I'll buy some acetone and dye them again. When finished I applied a white shine foam I bought at a supermarket. Here's the end result: ---------- It's not as white as I'd like, but it's pretty decent. I still have to clean the sole of the boot on the back.
  10. TM is from the UK, if I remember correctly.
  11. That's great! I'm still waiting for my AP. And my boots are almost at the same stage as yours. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow. Update: Here's the picture. ----------
  12. You'll look great in a TK. Just do the needed adjustments to the hip zone and it'll fit. As you see in the pictures, Olivia wears it and she look great in it. If you don't pay close attention you can't tell that's a girl wearing the armor (I usually can tell by the boots )
  13. Hi Miranda! OK, don't take my word as expert advice, but this is what I know to the best of my knowledge: 1. By butt and crotch you mean kidney and butt? (both on the back) or the lower front and back pieces? ----- 2: The AB (front) and kidney (back) parts should ideally touch, but you can use a shim to bridge the gap. A not so recommended route would be an elastic band or other non plastic part. Here you have a reference:----- 3: If by that you mean the black elastic that holds the shoulder part in place, I think yes, it is required (but no rivet should be visible.) Again, another fine example by Stukatrooper here: ----- The only reference I can give you for a girl trooper is our own Olivia, from the Spanish Garrison. You have a couple of pictures ----- (the frist from the left.) I don't know if that is of much help. Regards.
  14. I knew about that some days ago. It really sucks. Some of the guy in the Spanish Garrison don't leave the suitcase with the armor alone in their cars for that exact reason. Original news here.
  15. I have to agree with you there, #15 is too dark. I'll try with #14 on my armor.
  16. I've read other people using #48 Mediterranean Blue for the stripes. I'm pretty sure #5 Dark Admiral Grey and #15 Midnight Blue are used for the AB buttons, the teeth and the ears.
  17. Hello Xavier! I'm still not part of the 501st (I'm waiting for my first armor) but I have custody of my 5 YO son, and we've been through a lot together, so I know exactly what you're talking about. As fathers we try to give them the best experience we can, and sometimes it's our duty to carry the weight on our shoulders. It's not easy sometimes. I read about what happened to you, and it's all very sad. But I'm happy that you found a way out of your tragedy and seem to be returning to normal life again. My best wishes for you and your family, from sunny Spain. D.
  18. I just saw this today... Pablo, the care and love you put on both your armor and your blaster really shines through. You deserve everything you've got. And it's most impressive knowing that both the armor and the blaster were firsts builds. What a clever and skillful fellow you are! I'm very happy for you and you are trully an example and an inspiration for all of us. CONGRATS! Kind regards from Spain, Dmian.
  19. According to the legend AP is a merchant that lives in Mos Eisley, but I'm not sure... No, really, isn't there someone in your garrison with an AP armor that can recommend you? I mean, I'm getting an AP and someone from my garrison (Spanish Garrison) served as contact to get to AP. You can also get in contact with him using our old friend Google. But don't look on eBay, you can only reach him through e-mail. I don't know much about MRCE, but AP is what everybody recommends if you want to be screen accurate. Either that or a Gino's or a TE2, but Gino's are almost impossible to get and I don't have much infor about TE2 or how to get one (an TE2's are not made of ABS if I'm not wrong, so it won't match a FX.)
  20. Exactly, If you want to get an AP, go to AP. Unless it's an already assembled AP helmet (because you want to avoid the hassle) you're risking yourself getting a recast, or who knows what. Ask for high quality pictures, specially the mouth part, the chin and the ears, where you can see the level of detail of the moulds used to make the helmet. Don't buy without asking the forum experts first. Regards.
  21. THAT IS SO INCREDIBLE!!!! Word fail me, you're great, your son should be proud of his dad, he's great in that armor and I don't know what else to say... I'm waiting for my first armor (an AP actually) and I know my 5 YO son will like to get one, but I don't have means to make something like that. So, in a way I'm jealous (but I'm so happy for your son's luck.) Sorry, but I don't know what else to say but that you made a dad's and a son's dream come true, and that's so incredible that you're now my new hero. CONGRATS!
