  1. You've taken your first step into a larger world!

Welcome to FISD. I can tell you as a non-handyman, you've already got one up on me and I do okay.

Shooting for Centurion off the bat is a great way to start. It can be tough, but rewarding.

As @gmrhodes13 has already pointed out, there are lots of resources and friendly faces around to help.

So hope on in, take a look at some build resources, look at some of the build threads (you can check my two out in the links below my signature), and jump in with both feet. We'll be here to assist with any questions you might have!

Best of luck and we look forward to seeing your build page!

I did not recieved any response yet, i will ask again. If its not possible i think i need to buy the full set of files. Or does somebody have them and can share it?

I'm really excited about seeing how this comes out. That wrap on the glove looks like something you could create with a 2nd set of the gloves and just cut the patter out and sew it on. I think I read you have someone making you the kama, so they might be able to do that as well.

Unfortunately anyone that has access to these files would be breaking their agreement with GA if they shared them, so not sure you will get a response in public forum about sharing paid for files.

My guess is that Aaron only sells them as a set. The whole set is on sale for $30 currently.

If you alright bought the helmet, you might ask him if you can upgrade to the full set and pay the difference.

I've seen some vendors allow that.

  3. While I await the arrival of the new earcaps, I decided I would work on my belts. Yes, I said belts. My goal is to have an EI ANH Stunt and an ESB. So swap out helmet, belt, hand guards... two kits.
I followed Tony's guild and cut the 45s and I'm looking at punching holes. Just curious about the belt squares. I'm not sure if I need to cut this down (thickness) or is the little depth okay.

  4. We'll I think I ruined my helmet. I've built a few ATAs and one MTK, but the AM is just a bit different and doesn't line up as I thought it should. So I added a 2nd rivet to try and pull the tubes in line and when I went to add the ears, they showed. The ears were another story. one side lined up great. the other has a gap on the back so bad I could put my pink finger under it. So we did some trimming, some sanding, some filing and it just kept getting worst. So after drilling out the 2nd rivet and making the ABS Slurry, to try and fill holes, I'm stuck with ear that don't work and the spares that I have are all for ATA helmets so they are a bit short. Well Triple D himself saw my post and offered to help me out. So if you ever question the AM (DDD) armor, don't. Dave has great customer service and wants to help you. I'm so happy that I've had Terrel (RIP) and Dave as my armor providers. Both have been amazing to work with.

So while I wait on replacement ears (and a 2nd helmet). I will start working on my kidney to ab shims.

Then once that is done, I can start strapping. Fingers crossed I'll have enough time this week to get the kit done before our first big Con of the year in our area.

  5. There will be a run sometime this year.

They will only be available for full FISD members, so you need to have an approved TK costume and have one of these icons under your name on your profile.

If you don't have one of these, and you have an approved TK, then you need to ask for Full Detachment access.

  6. Okay, last pictures for the night. Both biceps are together. I've added a cover strip to one side and I started adding cover strips to the forearms as well. So need to shape up the shoulder bells. Then I'll start work on the ab/kidney sections. We have two armor parties next week, so hopefully I'll have a bit of help to finish my helmet. I'm so close.

Your build being from DDD is making me want to take mine to a higher level! It's looking great!

Get on it Terry. Come join me as I help Advance to 1500!

It is a lot easier to do it on this kit after I've built a few others. I feel like I know that I'm doing, but I keep asking questions of the DOs and other EI recipients because I want to make sure it is all good from the get go. A lot easier to ask now before I start gluing... LOL

Definitely! I’m trying to just think about it one step at a time. Looking at it as a whole is pretty over whelming lol. I have not talked to my local garrison. I will join them and see if they have any build nights coming up soon. Thanks for the help!

I'm an IT guys, I don't do a lot of work with my hands. If you had told me 4 years ago that I would have built my own, plus 3 others and am currently working on 2 more, I would not have believed you. I still have issues with the Helmet, the ears are just something I can't seem to grasp. The first I had a lot of local garrison help, the next few only help with the helmets. The 2 I'm working on currently I'm taking all that I learned and trying to make them meet our EI levels. So don't be to worried about it. Lots of help here, and I'm sure your garrison will be able to help you as well.

Biggest suggestion I can make is small cuts. If you have to cut it a couple of times, or sand it down some, it is a lot easier than adding it back on. ;)

You've got this! And we are all here to help.

Hey guys! My name is Connor. I’m k currently in SoCal. I’ve been looking into this the past couple days and I want to build a storm trooper, death trooper, or clone trooper costume. I have looked around a bit at storm trooper costumes and I’m just trying to figure out which one is right for me. (I’m 6 foot 4 inches 220pounds). I’m narrowing down my search a little to Anovos and WTF so far. But just trying to figure all of this out and see what is best for me. But looking forward to picking up a kit and start building.

    Welcome Connor!

As a 6'2" 275lb ANH TK, I can tell you that there is a lot to be said about finding the correct armor. I've built several kits, and all of them required a little something extra to fit me as the original actors (who most of these kit molds are based on) were all under 6' and about 170lbs. That said, just about all of them can be modified to fit anyone with a little bit of shimming and possible some abs paste.

With that said, I will throw my suggestion out there to check out Dave's Darkside Depot on Facebook. Dave is the current maker of the AM kits, and these are designed for "bigger" troopers. He says he even built one for a 6'7" 300lb member. So there is some flexibility. I've used some of WTF's parts to improve my ATA kit, so I know that Walt makes some bigger parts as well. Anovos is IMHO best for someone closer to the original actors sizes.

Best of luck to you on whatever you choose! We are here to provide as much assistance as we can. And I know that there are a lot of active members in SoCal, so be sure to get on their Garrison forums and FB pages. I'm sure they would be happy to provide additional assistance in a local manner!

I look forward to seeing your build thread once you decide on the armor to buy!

Been looking around for a few days to get an idea of what all is here. I just placed my order for a fully trimmed kit from Authentic Props and Mark said he will probably have it shipped in about a week, awesome!!  I'm also currently 3D printing an E11 blaster so it gives me something to do and get ready for the whole kit.  Thank you for the add to this group and I look forward to posting my build as soon as I get it.

    thanks, Jim

Welcome to the ranks! We look forward to seeing your build thread!

There a lot of helpful folks here in on the forum, be sure to ask lots of questions. There is no such thing as a bad question. We all were at your point once and we all know how somethings just need some extra explaining!

Best of luck, can't wait to see your approval post!
