I have decided to go with Dave's Darkside Depot armor and placed my deposit on getting a fully assembled kit. I decided to have Dave assemble it because I want my first armor to be assembled the right way. My next armor, I'm sure I will attempt to build myself!

    Thanks for all the support!

Glad to see you are on the way now Joseph. Best wishes with your project and looking forward for your BBB day and your first photos.

So that's my plan for this weekend: Flatten the sides of the kidney, verify sizing is still good and making the ends are able to butt together nicely:

You're in the right path Jonathan, cutting is the last resource , my opinion, and you must be completely sure when Trimming is needed.

I have done this kind of trimming a couple of times , and It worked so good, but It was a little more plastic to trim.

In front is my kidney plate and behind the one I was helping a fellow recruit to fit better.

and made the same with the butt plate

I tried posting a picture of me in my bucket but not able to

    Hi Peter,

For adding  photos directly into a post most troopers here use Imgur , you just upload the photo to the app and select the picture and use the Direct Link to copy and paste directly into the post you want to.

take  a look to this tutorial.

    cheers  :salute:

Since you guys are experienced with this im thinking about upgrading my helmet ( anh stunt ) anovos or battle spec mark 3 shapperton design, which should I pick, thanks in advance.

    Hi Charlie, welcome to FISD.

Both helmets are ok for basic approval and  with minor adjustment  in the Anovos one.

For levels 2 (EIB) and 3 (Centurion) The crl states specifically for the Vocoder:

The vocoder must be integrated into the helmet, and not a separate piece

As I know, the Shepperton Battle Spec has the vocoder as a separate piece. (Can you confirm this with the vendor?)

The Anovos Helmet will need a few adjustments for L2 and L3 too but they're easy fixes like change ear screws , modify the hovi tips mesh and some paint details.

In my personal opinion, the Anovos one is easier to upgrade for high levels.

    Cheers.

I was going to get a pre made armor from RS props but once they found out that I am 6'4" 240 they told me that their stuff wouldn't look right on me. So, now I will be scouring the forums for a kit so I can modify it to fit my rather large frame.

I thought that introducing myself was a good start. That way I am not as much of a stranger when I introduce myself to the Carolina Garrison.

I think this EIB approved application can give an idea of how the armor could looks in you .

    Hope this can help  :salute:

  7. coming along nicely mate!!  you're doing great .

For the belt, I use a leather one, why? in my case I started using the nylon one it didn't hold firm and it bent in half making more pressure on my hip ,

using a leather one asures a better fit and stay firm.

Separated the calves (with a butter knife), now in their respective sides.  We will be gluing them back tomorrow. We do have to do some minor sanding and cutting to make them fit. Hopefully they will look much better once done!

You'll do it good mate, the advantage of using E6000 is that, when needed, you can remove and glue again with out damaging the plastic. I had to  reshape two shins months agos , and they  were glued with Superglue , I almost mess the pieces with the cutter. :6::56pullhair:
