  1. Thanks Paul!!

If only I can get my friend to acquire his AP!!! Darn him, he decided to have a tattoo ans he's at 3000$ on it to this day!!! No need to say, that postponed his armor for the time being!!!

Anyway, in the meantime, I'm building my Biker costume and I'm going right away for Lancer status. Thanks to the help of a few guys on the BSN and the HUGE help of our own Runrriott!!! ;)

  2. So the lenses... what's up with those? What are they made out of? What's the gasket? I love to see how people put lenses together, so it's just a little obsession of mine.

Thanks Brad! Those are Nathan's awesome lenses! You can read all about how I built them here! ;)

One shot that is missing is the rear shot showing the butt split below the belt. One future modification I'd suggest is to shorten the straps on your drop boxes. They should almost touch the belt.

    Your almost there Alain.

    Thanks guys!

The first amor shot dates back from last Halloween so I had the drop boxes changed with white straps at this point. Some time ago, I pulled them up just under the ABS belt, you can see that a lot clearer in those 2 last shots which are from yesterday.

As for the back shot, I'll try to put my armor on tonight, and have brand new complete shot of it by my girlfriend.

I'll retake again the drop box, the back shot with the belt, any other things? As both of these things should be ok! ;) Hell, might as well take a whole new set of pics, the gf needs to get used to her new camera ;)

  3. Well,

That's it .. I wanna be the first (and possibly the only one) canadian to get my Elite status! I figure hell, there's so few of us, might as well ask for it now while my armor is all over the place due to my first troop today! :D

    Component list includes...

    - ANH AP Armor

    - Stunt bucket w/ all mods: drilled teeths, painted frown, Runrriott's green lenses, Stomper's hovies, RomFX and fans

    - Homemade ribbed neck seal

    - Rubber gloves

    - Canvas belt

    - Left handed holster riveted on snaps inside the belt

    - Thermal detonator w/ banker's clip

    - Full strapping system

    - CABoots

    - Metal built blaster w/ resin parts and Saberfreak t-tracks

I've been around here for quite some time and I've posted tens of pictures of my armor to show off the final product and as a helper for newbs with my WIP. I'm probably taking half the gallery disk space on my own :) All pictures below are taken from My Gallery!

You've probably seen it all before but here I go again for my official request of Elite status! The only things that needed to change on it, was the darn side gaps to be closed which I did about 6 months ago and the white straps instead of black for my drop boxes (that I also pulled up closer to the belt).

  4. I have AP too, and pretty big calves (volleyball maniac :))!

If I'd have to redo it, I'd use the abs strip method on my calves & other pieces so that instead of having the piece overlapping, they'd join with shims over them. That would have given me a little more space all around and it would have been perfect. It's still not too bad, they kinda join, but they always end up unvelcroing :) in the back! You can see the left calf piece not totally closing on this pic

    -----------

Still looking pretty good I think considering my height!!!

  5. Although I only caught the second part, I liked it. I thought it was pretty cool that they didn't have fun of Star Wars in a geaky way or try to diminish the people. They went along and everyone seemed to enjoy it!!!

Found it funny that pretty much all TKs were FX ;) Yeah, I know, 95% of the 501st are!

Didn't see that Carrie Fisher thing .. so I'll check it out if it comes online!

    Thanks for the tips guys!

  6. You can get the orange peel away? I think I need more explanation on this one as I don't see how this is possible?

What is the compound doing exactly? Making the paint flatter?

Does it take paint away? I'm really curious about this.

When would you apply the compound, right after the paint job while it's still "fresh" to some degree or after it completely cured?

Would the compound yellow the paint, let's say if the base coat is white, after some time?

    Too much questions?

  7. Until now, I've painted 2 helmets, my Commander Neyo helmet and my MLC Biker Scout helmet. Both are fiberglass.

The Neyo helmet has been painted with High Gloss Krylon Fusion which did some orange peel. I followed the instructions and spraying distance and all that crap and it still did it. 4 coats didn't change a thing.

I wanted my Biker Scout helmet to be perfect, so I tried Rust-Oleum paint which also is High Gloss (-----). Well, my first spray still wasn't successful and I didn't have the high gloss finish I see here at all. So I sanded it back down to the primer and restarted again. Primer, wet sand, then 3 coats of Rust-Oleum again.

THIS 2nd TIME though, I got much closer to the helmet, maybe 6" instead of 10-12" like the bottle says, and my left-right movement for painting was much much slower, I'd say at least by 4 times. I essentially waited for the paint on the helmet to go from mist, to thickness to glossiness on each passage. This gave me a nice glossy finish .. still not as good as Mike's result cause to me, this thing looks perfect!!! But it is close enough for me to be really satisfied.

    So my tricks:

    1. Spray closer

    2. Slower back & forth movement

Some once told me: "There's a thin line between a nice thick coat and a paint run!". This pretty much resumes it for me.

  8. LOL!!!

    Awesome surprise!!!

My girlfriend went from "Yeah, I think I've seen Star Wars when I was young cause my 5 years older brother watched it" to "Hey, you wanna drop ESB in tonight?"

    Very nice! ;)

  9. Depression is when I don't have time to work on my props because I party'ed too much the previous night! ;)

mattastic, is that your GF on the pic (can't really see)? You might have other problems at hand then her hating the white armor! ;)

  10. I also like the idea .. my fan (only one since the other side os the RomFX), is holding in the bucket with 2 strips of velcro along the upper edge, and the lower edge. Like it was said above, make sure to make this as thin as possible to prevent getting in the way when the fan is on.

Also, being able to make that out of rubber would be the most awesome solution!!! Anything hard will transmit vibrations and be a pain.

  11. Scott, I had expressed an interest in this, and it's still there .. but we received our game milestone a month ago, and I'll definitely be stuck working overtime and crunching this summer .. perhaps it will still be possible, but I prefer to let you know in case I was one of those pending persons ...

Great initiative .. and I'll make sure to let you know if I ever can make it! I'd be glad to meet you all!
