  1. Beyond the pack position it’s looking fantastic! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. You could probably sand down the bottom end of the cover strip so it’s not poking out so far, but it’s looking good. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Making good progress! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Yep I just grabbed some black compression top and bottom from Amazon. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Looking forward to seeing your suit completed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Looking forward to seeing things go forward! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. I also used a nylon belt with a heavy duty suspenders system like mentioned above. Far better than attaching the thighs to the armor. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. I will mention, having made a scout before if your end goal is to join the 501st I’d recommend looking into approved and vetted vendors on the pathfinders forum that Sly11 posted above. Pretty much all of the black series helmets, while being very cool and well done, have some things that don’t meet 501st approval without modifications and as such if you intend to join the 501st it would probably be best to plan on getting a helmet kit along with the armor you intend to get. Another reason why to do this is not all plastic is created equal. You could run into an unfortunate situation where the helmet plastic doesn’t match the armor plastic in the same hue of white. This could lead to problems getting approved. If you don’t intend to join the 501st then you can definitely do as you choose. I just wanted to share that considering this is a 501st forum. 9. I know it’s not RS, but Dave’s Darkside Depot does ABS with a special coating on one side of the plastic that helps prevent yellowing for much longer. Not sure if other vendors do it though. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Welcome! I just finished building my AM armor and it’s really great armor for sure! Echoing above he may be slow to respond as he has a number of commissions he’s finishing still, but I can for sure say he’s worth it for larger size troopers.
  11. Looking forward to your build progress. I’m not as familiar with many ANH prints that are as accurate myself but some close ones I think, but you can also look into the Rogue One armor as that has a lot of pretty solid and accurate 3D files out there too. Either way, the effort in building a costume with quality prints and such will definitely be much higher level than most costumes out there.
  12. Hey there Paolo, Yeah there’s lots of information here. My recommendation is determine which version/costume you will like the most. Most troopers tend to go ANH Stunt because it’s the most iconic look of the stormtrooper, but there still are many who have affinities to R1, ESB and RotJ. But if you choose based on what you like most, you’ll be happiest with your end result. Hero/Stunt troopers with ANH don’t have a lot of differences, but they exist, so definitely worth understanding them as you make your choice. Look forward to your build and progress.
  13. Yeah I remember getting my FOTK from the Philippines. $200 shipping. So yeah it’s no fun, but if it is all things equal from vendor to vendor then at that point, it’s just up to which vendor you prefer.
  14. Having made the AM armor myself, I trimmed the shoulder straps with roughly 2mm of margin around the bumps. I trimmed the back large bump away as well. I did also do some reinforcement and heating to bend them down a bit. I’ll have to do a small bit more bend in the back. But it worked out well. (The more curved part is the rear, the straight part in the front was done that way to glue it under the chest tabs)
  15. You may find as you kit up that the elastic could be too loose. I know on the straps from my kidney to the back I actually doubled up the elastic so it held it closer to the kidney, but I also made sure there was no space between the plastic edges and then determined where to glue the nylon.
  16. Preferably that they are done on the plastic and not your hand.
  17. I bought some black abs off of Amazon that was 1/16 inch thick to reinforce. I have more that I’ll use to add the v tabs for the posterior to kidney connection and I might also improve the bits that are meant to keep the armor sides together the current tabs I have are a little short so they don’t seem to do the job like I’d want. 18. Looking pretty good to me, I agree with the echoed information previously, but looks like you’ve got some good progress. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Hello there! One thing I can say is everything seems intimidating at first when building a costume like a stormtrooper, but they are not near as scary as it seems once you read through some of the builds and tips. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Good notes, yeah those are some of the things I figured I would need. Just wanted to get basic approval as soon as I could to get reinstated as a TK and the stuff I’ve been doing when I was previously with my FOTK Considering I do the edits for most photos in our garrison I did what I could for backdrop until I can get a better option. I can work with that for now lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Alright I submitted my photos to the other GMLs where I’m at for basic approval. https://imgur.com/a/SIXRVs6 For higher levels I need to touch up the paint on the side and knee ammo rivets and also add some inner clips to keep the posterior and kidney from overlapping. Just curious on my shoulders, I know we want them as close as possible, I have pretty large shoulders/back/chest from lifting weights over the years and due to that I’m not sure how much closer I can effectively get them? 22. I meant 20mm from the top but yeah better details were gathered. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I’ll also defer to other detachment members involved with higher levels, but the general idea I understood is 10mm from top and bottom and then the center one needs to be right smack equidistant from the top and bottom ones. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Dave may not respond super fast as he is busy right now too. He had a huge run with lots of commissions. I just barely got my commissioned helmet that I ordered in November so don’t worry too much if he’s not as responsive, I can for sure guarantee his quality and offerings from my experience.
