Well this is a cool Christmas gift! I'll also be itching to print one.

I wonder if the creator of this file could be convinced to upgrade it a bit for print quality? hmmm.

If you're worried about weight, you might check into AP (Authentic Props) armor. It's sized very generously in the midsection. And if you're painting the bucket anyway, no issues with using a different set of armor as you can paint the DA helmet to match. AP is also having a Boxing Day sale right now I believe. Check the sale forum. My own AP armor has almost achieved 100 troops and it's as strong as it was on day 1.
I'm blessed to be the actual size of a 70s stunt TK. My AP armor needed a decent bit of midsection trimming to make it fit my small frame. However, it was lovely that it came in a larger size vs many kits that require shimming to fit larger troopers. Much easier to trim some extra plastic than to shim and paste. It's also not difficult to achieve Centurion in AP armor.
No affiliation with AP, just a satisfied customer.

Outstanding armor and very impressive subtle modifications to make it fit you! I'll wish you luck with EIB even though I don't think you need it. You got this Barry!

12/2/23 - Carrie Tingley Foundation Cookies With Santa
89th TK troop, 44 for 2023.
Official event selfie! Four of us attended...
... and TK9-Mabel. She got to troop also.
This event was Festival of the Trees in years past, but the organizers did cookies with Santa this year instead. More personal, more time with the kids, and only Santa and the 501st.
Most of the garrison was preparing a float for a local Christmas parade, so it was a light turn out for this event. But it was still fantastic. The personal time with the kids was... well, I don't wanna say "great" but it felt like I was doing some actual good. Spreading smiles. Helping. Like I was at my post or something.
Mabel spread a ton of smiles too. She was the star of the show.
Santa took a break from his big chair and hung out with us Bad Guys for a while. He suggested we MIGHT be on the good list this year.
We didn't stay on the good list very long unfortunately.
Mabel and I couldn't resist.
After 2 hours, she was pretty tired and ready to stop trooping. We all agreed with the tiny dog that our tanks were empty. This is her post-troop happy face.
On a somber note, we discovered that Mabel has cancer in her little snoot (the puffy spot on her right side). That's been causing health issues for all her little life. She's only 2 years old. It may be a treatable kind and we have a vet oncology visit this upcoming week. Until then, I'm trying to make each of her days as good as possible, full of treats and trips out.

11/18/23 - 2nd Annual Toy Drive for Haven House (1 of 8)
87th TK troop, 42 for the year
We don't have much in the calendar for November, but there's EIGHT of these toy collection troops for Haven House. It's a fantastic cause.
The first troop was extremely rainy. I was soaked after 15 minutes. We called it shortly after I arrived to work the 2nd shift. heh
11/25/23 - 2nd Annual Toy Drive for Haven House (3 of 8)
88th TK troop, 43 for the year
This troop was frigid. Almost freezing and we're all standing in the shade the whole time. I brought something warm.
Jedi cloak!!! It looked pretty decent and in-universe. I stayed a bit warmer. But man... so cold. The hand warmers I taped to my chest and the ones I shoved in my gloves didn't help a lot. We called this one early too.

10/28/23 - Boo at the Zoo
86th TK troop, 41 for the year
CREB 5435 - 27th troop and 12th for the year
BOO AT THE ZOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! I love this troop. Always such a good time. We had lots of TKs, lots of Jawas, lots of rebels, and lots of fun.
Mandos don't like spiders. It's a thing.
I rode the carousel! I didn't break my butt!
We met some REALLY tall people.
Really, my daughter and I are standing.
... We trooped for like 5 hours. My daughter and I were the last standing. She went back to change and I realized I didn't get to see the elephants yet.
The elephants in the ABQ zoo are in a back corner and they have a huge habitat. It's apparently one of the best in the nation (or possibly THE best one). Lots of happy elephants. Acres and acres to play in, most of which is visible around the huge habitat.
There was no one at all present. Just this adorable little lady and her snack box.
(I think this is Rosie)
She and I hung out for a good 5 minutes all by ourselves. She ate nom-noms out of the treat cage. I took some pix, then removed my bucket and just existed with her. So peaceful. One of my top 3 zoo moments in my life at any zoo.

10/27/23 - Rice/Laforce Wedding
85th TK troop, 40 for the year, and I wore my HWT!
Wedding troop!!! And this one was extremely fun. The bride and groom were Jedi and TK. The groom received his armor just days prior to the ceremony.
Master Kai kept her eye on me.
Fellow honor guard.
And the TKs with the groom. He's VERY tall for a TK but looked great for his first suit up and the ceremony.

Okay, I'm SUUUUPER behind on updates. I'm gonna have to phone some of these in so I can get caught up.
10/26/23 - Make a Wish Spooktacular Trunk-R-Treat
84rd TK troop, 39 for the year
CREB 5435 - 26th troop and 11th for the year
Mandos are friendly, right? They certainly like TKs, right?
TKs aren't good at stealth. Or hot-wiring police cars. Don't ask me how I know.
Fortunately Mr Pool helped me out of that tricky spot.
And then I helped my daughter get some candy. This WAS a Trick-r-treat event after all and her bucket needed some tribute poured into it.

I might be really tired... but what are the differences you guys are seeing? Not the lack of insert on the Nico render, right? Because that's a small file that you print separately.
The overall shape looks quite good to my eyes.

I dare not let Mini Imp know about Sabine.
Am not about to make any version of that costume anytime soon.
The paint work was extremely painful. I hated every minute. But it was worth it.
You still did more with this build than I did with Sabine.

My one complaint: that this build is already over.

This is the definitive kid's build. This is incredible.
Meanwhile, mine is waiting till she's 16 to get her TK armor... because not all dads are nearly as awesome as you are. She has to Jawa and Sabine until then.

omg this is incredible. Seriously the best thread I've seen in months.
@MaskedVengeance check out the tiny TD!

Those Blaster Factory power cylinders are SOOOO good. It's hard, if not impossible, to beat them at any price. Excellent choice!
I'm a huge fan of their parts as well.

An OTTK airsoft? Very interesting!!! I'm looking forward to this one.
You should build an R1 E-11 also.

10/14/23 - Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta - Day 8 Sunrise and Eclipse
83rd TK troop, 38 for the year
CREB 5435 - 25th troop and 10th for the year
TK9 Soos - 2nd troop
This is a big one. Last day of Fiesta and the Eclipse troop.
Getting this one out of the way first. I waited TWO YEARS for this photo. Me and Vader. And it was so worth the wait!
(sorry for no official group photo on the last two. we seem to stop taking them as the week wears on...)
This was Anita's 400th Armored troop!!! She doesn't count ones she handles. Just incredible! She and her husband Joseph (over 900 I think) are huge inspirations to me. Well done Jawamama!!!!
Harriet made it to her 2nd Fiesta troop as well. And as you can see, the selfie runs strong in my family.
Such a rebel. Someday it'll be white armor.
Just Mando things.
Daddy and daughter. Soos is borrowing Mabel's TK rider since he doesn't yet have a costume. We're picking just the right one once he's a little bigger.
Soos got to troop with his buddy Chewie!!! Chewie also had his first Fiesta troops this year, but has trooped with his mom dozens of times. Leia hooked my family up with her same service dog trainer and transformed our lives.
But back to ME. In addition to getting a pic with Vader, I got a zebra selfie! That's been on my list a while too.
(Zebras are the event staff that tell balloons when to launch)
Why do we dot this?! Because of THIS!!! This is the crowd that we were handling this very day, Oct 14th. The full res isn't much larger, so I can't quite tell where my daughter and I are. I think I see Harriet's Sabine bucket near that van by the neighbor red/white/blue balloon. That's the area we worked anyway.
I love my Imperial family. (I'm kneeling lol)
Thanks for another amazing year AIBF!!!! Can't wait for the 2am mornings next October.
a few hours later...
ECLIPSE! Yeah, we had a full eclipse about 10:45 in the morning and it went straight over my town. Straight over Fiesta. They planned an "Eclipse glow" at the Fiesta grounds where all the balloons on the ground would inflate and glow during the event.
Annnnd.... neither Vader nor Yoda were picked. They chose 70 random regular round balloons. Out of everyone I spoke to, no one knew a pilot who was picked for this very exclusive Eclipse Glow and every pilot was very angry. We had planned a troop for it and we made patches. We made about 1500 stickers to give to attendees... Since the SW balloons couldn't attend and I needed to catch a plane in a few hours, I left. The photo above is from my back yard.
But I still armored up to troop under the black sun.
This is, unfortunately, a photoshop creation. It's a combination of two photos I took of the eclipse. It wasn't that dark though. We had something like 97% sun coverage... which is still quite bright. The sky was quite bright and shadows were still sharp. It was similar to a cloudy day at 11:00. I can't imagine the "glowing" balloons were that visible.
Not to end this on a downer. I had a great time looking through my eclipse glasses, taking pix (I have a nice eclipse filter for one of my SLR lenses) and trooping around. It was honestly more satisfying than being disappointed at Fiesta field. Still... wish they'd let Vader ignite and all of us troopers play and entertain the crowds.

10/11/23 - Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta - Day 5 Sunrise
82nd TK troop, 37 for the year
CREB 5435 - 24th troop and 9th for the year - And FIRST Balloon Fiesta troop!!!!
My daughter finally got a balloon fiesta troop!!! Huge for me as a dad and Fiesta troop lover, but huger for her. The training we have every year gave her huge anxiety about the event (it gives EVERYONE anxiety to be honest). That plus the requirement for a no-bucket dedicated handler kept her away till Wednesday morning. But weekdays are very chill and my buddy Brandon (Maul) agreed to help me keep an eye on her. No problems to be reported.
Also, TK9-SOOS got his very first troop!
A service dog in the crowd was not sure what to think of the plastic spaceman. The owner wanted a pic taken and a little desensitization from the white armor. As a SD trainer, I totally got that and did my best to not freak out the pup while still being the trooper that was needed.
Soos watched nonplussed. He's the most chill little boy.
In front of a slightly droopy Vader. He's old and not very airtight. Still intimidating!
And then I got this treatment. This big group of kids were honestly stoked to meet a real TK. Like... they weren't kidding. I was a celeb for a moment. Possibly there's a TK in Minecraft or some other non-SW game that they all played. I couldn't quite get everything they were all chatting at top speed. I gave them all FISD trading cards of me and hung out for a while. Got this selfie to commemorate it.
I've had some incredible moments as a TK but I never felt like an honest to got rockstar until right then. It was something else.
