  1. Hi Everyone!

After 4 long troops, I noticed a few hairline cracks on my neck and in either side of the shoulder straps.

I added a ABS doubler on the back side of the shoulder straps. In addition, is mixed up some structural epoxy and flocked cotton (FLOX). I made a filet around the inside neckline. Another easy way would to CA glue some ABS strips on the neckline.

I gave it a little paint to blend in after everything dried.
    b15418c5cedd975ecc83c7437e284b73.jpg

The next item I wanted to modify was my shins. I added some velcro inside the front of the shins and to the front of my boots. This should eliminate any rotation.

Lastly, I cleaned and polished everything.

  2. I built my Doopys blaster this past week. I decided to make a few mods, but not go crazy in this one. I definitely think another, more derailed, blaster build is in my future.

Metal thumb screws, metal site pin, drilled out barrel tip.

I’m going to keep the blaster looking new for now, to match my new armor. I’m sure there will be some weathering in my future.

    Cheers!

  3. I just got my approval!  I am now TK11485.....whoo hoo!

21 minutes ago, Commander Gree said:

only thing I see that may cause an issue (but not approval) is the sniper knee is tucking under you thigh. it may become bothersome to you

Agreed Jordan!  I think I will drop my thighs about 1/2" and raise the shins about the same.  The knee will overlap the thighs if I tweak it.  I imagine I will be doing a lot of tweaking as I start figuring out what works best.

    Cheers!

  4. “BOIL ... for a ROUNDER BASE”...please explain

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So, I used a large pot of boiling water to dip the base of biceps for shaping. The ABS warm up relatively slowly vs heat gun and allows for pretty easy reshaping. The bottom (base) of the AM 2.0 biceps is very oval like. I was going to live with it, but at the last minute decided to reshape a bit.

  5. This past weekend I decided to boil my biceps to achieve a rounder base. It turned out really well.

I built a jig after measuring the required bicep/forearm gaps. This made installing the two inch straps much easier. I just glued the straps with CA glue.

Next, I installed snaps for thigh garter system.

Finally, I spent the remainder of the day trying things on and doing my final fitting. I used some helmet padding to line up my shins perfectly.

  6. Work is continuing to progress, but I have been slacking in posting photos. That being said, this might be s long reply!

While other parts were setting up, I decided to glue straps on my “trooping” hand guards.

Everything laid out and ready to bring strapping.

I felt compelled to hide my white closure strip. What better way than son black CF wrap left over from my airplane build!

Straps are dry, and now it’s time for shoulder elastic. I decided to use 4 snaps vs gluing to allow for future adjustments.

  7. Last night I started off by gluing the read thigh inner strips.

    941b085fa73509c99dcb56315abedfc7.jpg
Then it was on tho the front cover strips.
    d1661d259c47ff0d5c9adeb87404cf0a.jpg

To speed things up, I went back to CA glue for the rear shin strips.
    bafc212905984e9d901713267402451b.jpg306835777b3f22877471a9b51184129d.jpg

Note to self......don’t use blue tape and hinge method on strips visible from the outside. After setting up I was left with tons of blue tape residue that encountered the glue.

I spent about an hour cleaning things up using various techniques. My awl worked best.
    ca918cb6fbcdb97c33888df03d45ca8d.jpg
Finally, I installed the white closure velcro.
Since everything else was drying I built my trooping hangars elastic bands.
    3bcfc9fde73de0a077189d522f4c3c88.jpg

Fast forward to the next day.....hand guard elastic glued to hand guards.
    c1c6a82e1f9c3370cf57ca194d8461e4.jpg

And finally tonight, attaching elastic strips to the shoulder bells.
    a8c6d103efd4693558e3f5d3a45cd14e.jpg

Now, I need to let everything dry.

    Cheers!

  8. Random tasks completed tonight, limited by my magnet supply.

I started off working on my sniper knee. I build a small shim that will glue to the shin cover strip.
    25aafc3f963b240044892725bddc584c.jpg
Here the knee is being glued in place. Again, using e6000 for easy future TD conversion if the urge ever hits me.
    e54e615f9843e71be50b3076cfc1ff5a.jpg

Next up, the front inner strips of the thighs are glued to join the halves.
    a40650afe02671e9d90b550c11e12d57.jpg

I have decide that painting the bucket isn’t my strong suit. I laid down the black on the ears and vocoder.

Finally I took a few side by side photos of my AM 4.5 and WTF bucket. The AM is on the left in the photos.

    More cover strips tomorrow!

  9. I am continuing with cover strips. I have to glue as much as my magnets and clamps allow, then wait for things to set up. It’s slow, but I do like the forgiveness of the e6000.
    2900b5426d8b6e294963856f74d4d76f.jpga85ee1d69f77d98e7617fea5e4501a4b.jpg

Since things were going slow, I got started on glueing the shins too. CA for the inner strip and e6000 for the outer.

  10. Great thanks! I was out of town last week. Before I left, I started glueing arm armor.

I decided to get the tedious part. finished first. Cover strips

  11. Here, I have installed the “split snaps” on the left side.

Originally I was going to use a single elastic strip to connect the sides. Unfortunately the elastic only stretches one direction. So, I folded 3” wide elastic for form three sturdy straps.

    Everything lined up just right.

Next, I moved to the right side. I was very happy with the plastic slide that I did on my WTF build. I duplicated the process with a few slight improvements.

  12. Your build is looking fantastic, Sean!  As for if the the split rivets will be "functional", do you mean to help hold the strapping on?  If you are going with elastic on the sides I would suggest just installing them and then attaching (gluing) the strapping over  them.  The reason being is that elastic can wear (stretch) out over time, and if it needs to eventually be replaced you would have to remove/replace the rivets as well.
Also, if you use nylon remember that the shanks of the rivets are not very long, and you may have some trouble getting it through the armor, nylon and washer before opening up the "legs" properly.  Keep up the great work!
P.S.  REALLY nice job on that kidney/butt plate alignment!

    Thanks Joseph!

I think I will be using the split rivet with a male snap like I did on the cod. I will probably is 3” wide elastic with 6 snaps (split rivet locations) because, I really want to minimize any vertical movement in this joint. With the snaps, it will be a replaceable part too. I’ll post pics later today!

    Thanks!

Finally I marked the left side holes for split rivets. I’m not sure if these will be functional or not.
