  1. If you're placing a trooperbay order, you might want to go ahead and get some of the dark green lens (thicker than the AP lens material), and the D ring for your blaster.  I think I've paid more in shipping to trooperbay than I have in items because I didn't get it all at one time.

I'll let one of the wise guys (haha) chime in, but I think you're good on the TD color.  If those two pieces are ever close of enough to see the color difference when you are in your kit, something has gone terribly wrong.

  3. Looking good Lindsey. Regarding the blaster "D" ring. Though it may be acceptable at basic for the higher levels of approval I highly recommend you swap it out for something more accurate. Trooperbay sells them if you're interested.

Ugh. Of course. Two steps forward, one step back on my March to EIB.

Thanks for the feedback. Trooperbay D-ring ordered!

  4. So what I had to do to fix my thigh issue/Knee plate issue

Get some dense foam, like packing material type

Form a V in the top front of your left shin, just below where your kneecap is
Place a curved piece in the bottom of the rear of your left thigh

I have had 0 issues, since i did this

I have foam, in those exact places even, but mine is not that dense of foam. More like cushion foam. I’ll try the denser and see if that’s the key!

  5. I’ve done several “fit” mods, and I’m very happy. I made the connection between my chest and ab tighter, which effectively pulls my chest piece down. This is allowing my helmet to sit lower, increasing comfort/visibility. Also, it’s helped with back overlap.

I also re did my thighs.

Here is before (notice the upper flare that I had to create due to some extra weight in the hips.)

And an after. Much snugger. And that sniper plate shift is *better* although it still frustrates me.

Okay— next up to do, TD fixes.

First, where can I get screen accurate screws? It appears my 2mile Troop left me a screw short, so if I’m replacing I might as well go screen accurate.

But in the below pics you can see why I need to redo the TD. My holes were drilled wonky, so my clips can’t/won’t sit flush without everything being wonky. Thankfully it’s not a super hard redo.

Then... small hiccup... I got some sweet hand guards from justjoseph63 (despite the USPS’s attempts to keep them from me), and I have hidden them from myself. They are here... somewhere.....

    Hal & Mal's St Paddy's Day Parade

    Date: March 23, 2019

    Location: Jackson, MS

    Type: Outdoor parade

Participants: Vader, Boba Fett, 4 Clone Troopers, 3 TIE Reserves, 2 TKs, 1 DeathTrooper, 1 ScoutTrooper, 2 Legacy TKs

Troop Notes: Beautiful weather for a parade!  We participated in the City Sweep, walking the parade route immediately prior to help collect money for the Children's Hospital.  Tons of people, tons of kids.  Lots of smiles and pictures.

Armor Notes: Two plus miles of walking, and everything did amazingly well. Still fighting that left shin twisting (with a stirrup AND velcro).  Had to do a quick fix on my ammo pack from the troop yesterday, not up to CRL standards, but I'm the only one who knew. I'll get a permanent fix done asap.

    Mother-Son Star Wars Night

    Date: March 22, 2019

    Location: The Venue, Brandon MS

    Type: Indoor Star Wars Event

    Participants: Vader, XWing Pilot

Troop Notes: Super fun troop! This was a public event organized as a date night for mothers and sons, ages 3 to 10. The venue was decorated in SW theme, the played the Imperial March as we walked out through a fog machine, and about 50 little boys with light sabers had a night to remember.

Armor Notes: I had just finished reworking my thighs the night before and had some technical difficulties with my armor pack, so I will need to reattach it before the next troop. Also, had a Chicago screw come undone from my holster. But, overall I’m very pleased with the mods I’ve been making on my armor.

  8. Congrats on your first two troops, Lindsey!   :duim:   As long as you put a few smiles on faces, that's really what counts!  Your bucket looks to be pretty level, but do you have any padding in the top?  If so, removing that may help bring it down a bit and give you a better line of sight.

I have tactical padding in the helmet, but that doesn’t seem to be the problem. It’s really more of a short neck plus shoulders riding high issue. When I wore me E-11 in my holster, it weighted down my body armor, and the helmet sat much better.

So now I need to figure out how to make that happen all the time!

    Ridge-Con

    Date: September 15, 2018

    Location: Ridgeland, MS

Type: Small comic-con at local library

Participants: Darth Vader, Emperor, 1 Tusken Raider, 2 TKs, 1 TIE Pilot

Troop Notes:  Most of the attendees were teenagers there for the different table games being taught/played.  Not a lot of interest in the 501st members.  But, we were set up directly across from a saxophone player, so lots of good jazzy tunes to keep us occupied.

Armor Notes: Helmet sits a ton better with my E-11 in the holster, which pulls all of my body armor down.  Now to figure out how to recreate that.

  10. Troop #1

    Golden Triangle ComiCon

    Location: Columbus, MS

    Date: August 18, 2018

    Type:  Small comicon

Participants: 2 Deathtroopers, 1 TIE Reserve, 1 TK

Troop Notes: First official troop! And I trooped with husband, which was one of the reasons we wanted to join the 501st.   The power went out for over an hour, making for a very hot indoor troop.  Really enjoyed the faces on the kids and adults alike, and smiled with every picture.

Armor Notes:  Left shin drifting, despite the stirrup.   Lots of visibility issues with my helmet sitting really high.

  11. Ok. I’m officially motivated to head for EIB. Hoping I can get there before Celebration.

    On my to do list—
    -@justjoseph63 handguards on the way.
    - have the supplies to rework my slightly wonky TD
    - have a few fit issues I need to work out
    - gotta fix that drifting left shin. I have a stirrup, but it looks like I need to add a snap too
    - D-ring onto E-11

I’m gonna see if I can rename this thread so that I can keep all my build in one place, but either way, see you on the March to 1000!
