  1. Your paint guide is really cool. Just a quick question: Will the airbrushed areas - helmet vents and teeth, TD grey area etc need the clear coat? I just wonder if they would stand out more, or look separate from the rest of the armor if they were not only a different colour, but if their finish was a little different as well. I'm not sure if it's clear in any of the available images, but if their "construction" was originally using separate materials, there may be a visible difference in sheen as well. Again I don't know if someone has had a better view and everything is high gloss - I just think that some of the tears and trap vents might look more "separated" if they were a flat grey. I sort of got the impression that the Black Series helmet had used duller grey too. Any thoughts?
  2. I haven't made too much progress. A little experimenting with painting and prep work. I finally got around to a test fit (mostly everything). I was hoping to not cut the thighs, but they are just too loose. I haven't added any supports for them yet as I knew I'd have to at least take more of the tops. I now have trimmed more off the top as well as removed the back cover strip to narrow them. As I walked around in them it felt like I could really narrow the tops, but if I bend my legs too much, they get snug at my lower thigh. I wondered about fastening them with elastic strapping at the low back of the thigh and then using velcro to attach the cover strip. Maybe glue it completely on one side ,but allow for a little give by only attaching it at the top . I guess I won't need to bend my legs to 90 degrees too often.
  3. See how your back plate sits with the added foam. I found that it’s hollowness allowed it to sit tighter as it let the curve of the rear abdominal bow into it. You might be fine, but if it doesn’t sit as close as you'd like you may want to feather the edges of your foam.
  4. I've done some of my armor with plasti-dip and I've also done a few pieces with gaffers tape. Both seem to work pretty. well. I'm expecting some overspray to help add another layer as well.
  5. Imperial Boots got back to me quickly and offered to pay to have the zipper replaced. This was a good option because between shipping, duties, wait times, etc. I would have just done that anyway.
  6. Mine arrived today and I already lost a zipper pull from one of the boots. I had tried them on, then was putting them away and when I pulled up the zipper, pop, off it came. I'll see what they offer to do if anything. I was disappointed with the gloves. I would have liked them to have been a little more form fitting. They seem a little loose to me, but I didn't notice any stitching errors. I'll look closer tonight.
  7. They showed up today. Boots and gloves. Boots are a little on the large size. I went up a half size - probably wasn't necessary, but others have felt they fit small. Anyways, they showed up and one of the zipper pulls came off already. Update: Imperial Boots got back to me quickly and offered to pay to have the zipper replaced. This was a good option because between shipping, duties, wait times, etc. I would have just done that anyway.
  8. Duties and import charges were an extra $38.00. Not complaining, just letting others know.
  9. I ordered as part of the April Wave. I just checked and it looks like my order has shipped. "Shoes" and gloves.
  10. Finally some nice enough weather to do some attempts at painting. I've primed the shoulders and biceps and done a little filling. Any progress is good progress, right?
  11. I think, because of the "symetricalness" of the R1TK a lot of the parts will work either way. what you will want to consider is how the joints look and what will be most visible. Like when you put your shins together - depending on what you use to fasten them, you will want the closed overlap on the outside front, so that the "open" edge is towards the inside of your stance. I hope this makes sense. I trimmed the thighs from the top and that helps to make then get smaller as that is where they are largest. If you just start trying the armor on, I'll think you see how it goes together and you might not be as overwhelmed. I dragged my feet quite a bit because I wasn't sure where to go next, but once I just started doing stuff, it's sort of straightforward.

Showed up the mail yesterday. Very nice! Hated to tear open that sweet envelope though.
  13. I would try everything on and you might get lucky. The thighs are easy to shorten from the top and the Abdominal wrap gets overlapped by the chest and back so depending on how things hang, again you might get lucky.
  14. I was worried about placing it too high or too low on the surround. I knew the back and belt would cover the edges but I didn’t want either to pop out and your seem to be working fine.
  15. Do you still have images of removing the rail available?
  16. I'm looking at HFX too. I'm just not sold on the rail. It would be nice to switch it out, but I don't know if that's feasible with rubber.
  17. I haven't painted yet. I'm hoping to have it ready for paint as soon as the white stuff finally leaves. I'm looking at the krylon paints - they've always worked really well for me and are almost fool proof. Probably a primer then Gloss White.
  18. There aren't a lot of us Rogue One's yet, so there aren't as many resources built up as other TK versions. I've ordered my boots and gloves now from Imperial Troopers, so I'll keep you posted. I'm looking at a rubber kit to use as a blaster, but I have to see how it lines up with Rogue One and if it will work. Since you have experience in building armor, you should do fine with Jimmi's kit. I was a little overwhelmed, but found that once I just started moving forward, it was a pretty straightforward build to do. Good Luck.
  19. The black could just as easily be a piece of strapping that's either loose or supposed to be there. As far as the back plate, if the bottom is supposed to be covered by the belt and those tabs never seen, I guess they could be an option, but I don't know how relevant they are.
