1. I haven't been able to work on my TK last several days or at least any work of any real progress. Life has kept me away and I will be out on a mini vacation next few days out of town. So once I get back in to the swing of things, I will make some progress posts.
2. I would also recommend using Testors paint instead of Humbrol. I can get better results with Testers. Humbroll paint seems a tad to thin IMO.
3. How many sets of magnets were you planning to get? I would recommend at least 10 sets. I'm using 3/4"x1/8" N52 magnets. Very strong.
I would also recommend a minimum of 10 spring clamps. I got mine at Harbor freight for $0.94 each, plus I used a coupon. Fortunately for me, there's a HF literally 5 minutes from my house.
4. Ok, I'm a little confused. I've looked but I can't tell if you put a strap on your forearm pieces to attach to the upper arm or what. And if so. Do you use snaps and straps or what? Could someone bail me out here please???
5. I had to trim my forearms more than probably most people because I'm short. It took me a while, but I finally got something I'm happy with. I trimmed for comfort and ability to move. Granted, I can't move as easily without armor on, but I think i ended up with a happy medium.
I currently have my forearms glue drying or as much as I could do with the clamps I had available.
Fortunately I received a order today with more magnets.
6. I may do a thread showing how I paint. I don't claim to be a professional or anything, but I'm pretty happy with my results. That coming from a self proclaimed "perfectionist". Lol!! I use to build alot of models and learned some tricks along the way that may be useful to someone else.
7. It's fine really, I will just make a ESB. I'm not at all pressed about it. I actually thought of doing a ESB originally because of all the movies ESB is my favorite.
I painted my ears today for ESB. Took me a while to do free handed, but I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.
I also started my forearms. I did the left first and taped it together. Took quite a bit of time. I only trimmed a little at a time and then test fitted. I kept repeating until I had what I wanted. Being a shorter guy, I also had to trim the length as well. The right didn't take near as long. I pretty much copied my left, so it went much faster.
I try and post pics later from photobucket as you suggested Joseph. And I posted on your thread, I did receive the rivet sets today. Thank you very much!!
8. I just very recently received my AM 2.0 kit (thanks MightyTank!) and have started my first build. My original plan was to build ANH stunt and to try and take it to centurion level from the beginning. Or at least that is what I was shooting for.
After reading the CRLs a bit deeper, I realized AM 2.0 chest and back do not qualify for centurion and must be replaced. As I am in admiration of the craftsmanship and artistry of this kit, I do not want to replace any of the original parts. So as I understand the CRLs, this kit does qualify for centurion as a ESB.
I'm not pressed about switching gears at all really. I have already painted the frown on my helmet gray, but that's a easy fix.
I do prefer the gray frown over the black, but I'm not in love with the difference really.
If anyone can post or PM me how the heck I can post pictures from my android phone on this thread, I would like to share my progress with everyone. As much as this is my build, it also belongs to all of you here at the FISD. Because without your help and guidance, this would pro never have began.
Let's get our ESB trooper on!!
9. Thank you and I very much look forward to joining the ranks!
10. What I ended up doing is I got some Picture repair putty. Mixed it up and spread it around the area. I pretty happy with how it turned out and it seems to have worked out great. I will still make some circular disc as ukswrath suggested and install those when I put my tips on. Thanks for the suggestions!
I'd post a picture, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it with my phone.
11. After being here and some other related forums, I have a better understanding of this whole recast discussion.
Let me share my personal incident.
I recently bought a AM 2.0 kit. I haven't unpacked everything, as I'm only pulling out and unwrapping parts as I work on my build. But as I look at the parts and learn more of what it takes to create this work of art, I'm left very impressed with the work and skill involved in creating this piece of art.
A person I know, found out I got this kit. This person asked me if he could copy the parts before I assembled it, so he could make his own kit.
I unfortunately had to tell him, "absolutely hell no". He was puzzled at my response, so I explained it to him or at least tried to explain. Not really sure if I got through to him. I have alot of respect for the person or persons who created this armor. If I allowed someone to copy my armor, I think I would not only be helping in a theft, but I would be totally disrespecting the artist or artists. I'm not going to have a part in that.
I do want to thank everyone here who helped educate me. Thanks everyone!!
12. For a screen accurate set, ready to wear out of the box and less than $500??Not going to happen unfortunately. Save your $500, have patience and save more money to buy a good recommended armor set. I promise it will work out for you better in the end. I bought one of those under $500, ready to wear out of box armor sets many years ago and was more than disappointed. Please learn from my mistake. Get the DIY kit. There is plenty of enough help here and probably at your closest garrison to help you assemble a kit that you will be proud to own. I'm assembling my first kit now. I'm not rushing anything, reading and asking questions, looking at pictures and watching YouTube videos. So far all has been well. If I can do it, I'm sure you and anyone else who puts their mind to it can do it as well. Hope this helps!
13. I haven't tried this myself, but I've read people using a heatgun to accomplish this. But be careful as to not burn the lens. If you had some scrap lens material to learn with would probably be best.
14. I wonder if you washed and dried it a couple times before wearing if it would still bleed?
15. "Accidentally" Lol, I have to use that next time my wife questions one of my purchases! It might save me some grief! Lol
16. Has anyone tried the speakers in the hovi mics? I was curious as how loud they were and if they had any problems with feedback.
17. I'm by far no expert and I'm sure many others would know more than myself. But for your size I'd think most any armor would fit you OK. Your still going to need to trim to tailor it to your body.

I ended up buying a AM 2.0, mostly because it fit a very wide range of bodies.
18. Geez oh pete, crooks will make fakes of anything. Pathetic really. I was wondering if anyone has ever used Liquid Nails for glue? Has plenty of work time and cures to a super strong bond. It will also adhere to most anything. It's readily available here in the states, I would think it would be overseas as well.
19. That is exactly what I thought too! Lol!!
20. I didn't know about the ROTJ armor requiring this. I've never read the CRL for ROTJ and I'm also a noob.
I need to pull my original trilogy set out and rewatch them. With some of the new knowledge I've gained here, I think it be interesting to watch and pay attention to some of the subtle details with new eyes.
21. Has anyone used white rubber trim around the edges of their armor?
I saw some for sale and was curious if anyone has used it. I don't think you could meet CRL standards with it, but correct my if I'm wrong.
22. Congrats!! I am building my first armor now and I'm also grateful for the help I'm receiving from everyone here. Hopefully I too will be joining the 501st ranks in the near future as well.
23. I am assembling my AM 2.0 helmet and have a question. The area where you mount the Hovi mics is really thin and I would like to reinforce that area to add strength. I'm looking for ideas on how to accomplish this. Also, should I reinforce this area before or after I've installed my hovi mics? Thanks!
24. I was thinking of using a pair of heavy duty snap pliers. I figured it be less of a chance of messing up.
