  1. Hi all,

Quick update here - Super excited to have received my BlastFX - Essentially my electronic module that will enable sound, lights and rumble action to my Blaster! I am a proud owner of one as it is compact and meets my every need. Paul is a great guy to deal with and always at the ready to answer any questions you may have. I actually received it a while back but did a terrible blunder; I short circuited the module and likely burnt out the speaker rendering the module without sound. As he provides battery hook-up instructions, I recommend heeding to the direction provided closely. I ended up commissioning him for my battery and switch install as I proved myself a novice blundering the way I did. Paul was very accommodating and got me on my way with a fully operational BlastFX in record speed! Furthermore, it comes standard with a good amount of wiring which comes in handy during the installation stage; I don't forsee any significant challenges when I get to this step.

As for my battery source; I chose the recommended Li-Po type and choose out at 3.7 volts. It is recharged via USB charger and attaches / detaches via JST 2 Connector. Mine will take upwards of 2 to 2-1/2 hours to fully charge from zero.

As for what I think if it; superb. It's compact, loaded with features, lights are bright enough(red for blaster bolt/ blue for stun), and sound quality is good. The Stun mode is very vivid sounding; likely to give you goosebumps as it gave me. Rifling through options in blaster types and displays gives you control over how you particularly want to operate it - great fun! Oh, there's also a 'soon to run out of ammo' sound and a 'out of ammo' sound as well during operation, which plays to kind of the realism of the whole thing. Oh yeah, and there's a mute operation as well which reveals lights only at trigger pull, which may come in handy based on the scope of a given troop.

Apart from a slight electrical hum when the module is turned on, I give it two thumbs up! I did attempt to channel the possible electronic hobbyist in me over the course of three months by doing a ton of research into Arduino Boards / Sound Boards and electrical know-how on experimenting with bread boards etc. but honestly concluded it was too much time/energy/money overhead for me for even to get anything working so I went with the quick and easy route of getting this ready-to-install module and I am not regretting it one bit. Again, given that it's compact and loaded with features, it's one of my treasured components for my e-11 build.

  2. This is really cool and shaping up well.

I created a product called BlastFX earlier in the year that is available as kit, and can be coupled with an animated mini display. More information is here: https://facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1753634708009867&id=964476920258987

What you've done here is not far off what I did, including the logo at start up and site display.

Would love to see a video of yours working?

  3.  Nope,not a hijacking.

Your Tramp is simply amazing.  I will be buying your blast fx and scope reticle to put in Chris’s  (Fieldmarshall) kit when it is in production. I had the pleasure of visiting Chris at his shop in South Carolina.  Super nice dude.

The work you did with Brian (bullhdogProps) on fitting the scope OLED in the hollow resin  M38. Wow!!!!   I was following the progress.

I am glad to support you and your products.
Thanks for the kind words bro, it's always nice to be appreciated ;)

  5. Thanks! I'm slowly getting closer to the end. Finished sanding the counter pieces and assembling the unit. Just need to paint remaining small parts and give it a clear coat.

I tried to click the link but tells me the page is not available
Oh that's odd. You can go to the main page facebook.com/trooperamp and look at the recent posts bud, it's about 3 down I think.
  6. So potentially could I power the two units from a recchargable USB power source? One power source and a splitter? I just received my hasbro blaster in the mail today and I already have my Doopy Doos mod kit. I had been watching Hyperdyne for electronics mods but they have been sold out. Then ta-da you deliver this option. I'm going to open the blaster up tonight and see what room I have to work with.
Yes bud you can power them in that way if you wished.

  7. This looks really awesome. Both the sounds/counter and the scope. I see you had a sample wired to accept a usb power source. Does it come that way or was that just for demonstration?
Thanks bud. The port is always on the board as it's also used to program it. You can power it from there but the module does come with power wires soldered to it. I simply used the USB port during the video as I didn't have a spare battery to hand.

  8. Hot off the press and using the newest TINY display and driver board, Bulldog's M38 scope kit fitted with custom electronics. Everything fits inside the main front collars including a convex lens, red acrylic cover and the display itself.

  9. You said it. I'm actually afraid to calculate how much I've spent on blasters in the past 18 months since I bought my first doopydoo kit.

I will eventually document all the parts and prices and sellers for all the parts I've bought and make sure the wife doesn't see it

I have one more set of t-tracks to order for my sterling and maybe a completion kit from Toni just in case. Then that's it ........ maybe

  10. Wow, that is very cool indeed. The graphics look so cool and sounds are great too. My ipad keeps crashing trying to view more on your Facebook page so I will try to check it out on another PC soon. What is the needed diameter for the smaller graphic window to fit in the scope?

Thanks bud. The smaller display is approximately 20 x 20 x  5 mm, so should fit well. There is an arduino too which is 33 x 18 x 3.5 mm. Would love to see if it fits, especially with battery and switch, and perhaps work an exchange?

  11. Be aware that several of these in a group of you can cause cross talk issues (one of the reasons I stopped selling them with the TRamp units). I have tried many different mics and by far the best I've found is this one:

    ----------

A little more expensive but no cross talk issues.
