I'm not 100% clear on whether he's referring to the helmet, the armor, or both, with that comment. I can't speak to the helmet.

Jim's armor is definitely built to accomodate a larger body. Anovos is definitely on the small side, by comparison. I've also personally been in touch with KB, who confirmed his armor has a larger size capacity than Anovos. (I'm too big for Anovos, so I've been looking at options for larger troopers)

I'll contact Daetrin about clarifying his text.

Bear in mind: Jim's kit may still fit you. It's a lot easier to cut armor down than it is to add to it to make it larger. My personal focus is on armor that will fit larger troopers, like myself, so I've focused less on smaller armor that won't work for me.

Here's the actual sales thread where Jim's armor comes from:

Note the following in the first post:

    Also note:

(In the more recent pages of that thread, Jim has been telling people who are 6'2" that the armor should fit them)

See also steamboatphan's build thread, one of the first builds for this type of armor:

    http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/36799-jimmiraquois-first-order-stormtrooper-build/?p=486096

    In it, he writes:

And another quote from TheRPF thread:

What I can assure you is that no one who is 210-220 lbs is going to stuff themselves into Anovos armor. So again, I'm comfortable with my statement that Jim's kit is bigger than Anovos.

BUT, perhaps due to the different material, it may be possible to cut it down smaller than with the Anovos plastic. So I wouldn't necessarily rule it out. If I were you, I'd contact Jim with more information about your specific size stats, and see what he thinks.

hey, that's me! Jim has an amazing kit. it's very easy to modify for different trooper sizes

  2. Hey Evin,

Great build mate...I've followed it closely...I'm working on my V3 kit from Jim.

Can I ask how you assembled your shins and what method you used to close them!

Did you use magnets or velcro to close the outer and inner seams or are there other ways?

    Cheers

I used CA glue for the outer part of the shins and velcro on the insides.

  3. The DL has spoken. I've had to hide the off-topic posts. I'll start suspensions next. Stay on target peeps...it's a build thread. Any other comments, create a new thread.

I've decided to hand off this FNarmour kit to Blair to build on her own, as i have a Premier Anovos Kit on the way and will have my hands full with other projects at the moment as well.  Not to mention, Blair lives really far from me and it's been hard for us to collaborate together on this.  She may start her own thread on here though... Feel free to delete this thread Paul... or whatever it is you admins do in this situation  :salute:

  4. I am building an FNArmour kit for a a female friend.  This kit has had a lot of discussion around it and as far as I know this is the first kit to come to the US for review.  Peter Quigley has graciously given me a kit for evaluation purposes.   From what I can tell so far the armor is of decent quality but will require some modifications to make it more accurate.  One of my first impressions about this armor is that it is very large.  Since I'm building this for a female, the size will make this build more challenging.

As we go through the build I will be updating this thread with as much information and pictures as I can.  Any feedback will be welcomed since we are looking at this from an evaluation standpoint.

Today we started initial fitting of the armor to get an idea of how complicated the modifications will need to be to get the armor to fit a smaller frame.  We used a hot water bath to reshape the upper back and the chest so we could start getting an idea of how everything will eventually fit together and the consensus we came to is it will be very challenging.

  5. Hey, a new post! Glad u like those gaskets. They've been working awesome for me. Couple of things I did that helped: sew or use snaps to connect the elbow gaskets to the shoulder gaskets so it makes one long sleeve on each side. Also, add adjustable buckle straps to the chest area to pull the gaskets tighter together
