1. From what I read some people have difficulty taking the assembled Anovos belt appart including possibly damaging certain parts. Would it be recommended to get the new unassembled kit to avoid that issue? Obviously it costs more than just taking the assembled one apart.

  2. I'm mostly interested in the helmet. It looks very good.

The tube stripes don't look quite right to me. They look a little too long, not deep enough, and possibly too far down the tube. In the length and position, I am referring to the direction wrapping around the tube.

  3. See I don't understand how anyone can hate a precursor. It's not anh armor. It's just a concept that won't survive past rogue one. Look at concept cars. A company comes out with a goofy design in 2017. Nine of those designs will see a car until 2021 or so. Look at a 2017 sports car and go back to 2013 for their concept. Most people say ' oh I'm glad they didn't use that feature' . Which is what were saying about RO tk suits. Did they evolve from clones? Yes. Can you see remnants in anh tks? Yes.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see the R1 style stormtroopers in the Han Solo film. Any new film with OT stormtroopers will probably be this design.

I don't think they are implying the OT armor evolves from the R1 armor. It is just a different representation of the same armor.

  4. Wonder if we will be able to get it before 2018.

    :laugh1:

Actually it probably will be scheduled to ship late 2017 if it is a premier line helmet. Any delay could push it into 2018.

The premier Kylo helmet went on sale late 2015. It is scheduled for delivery starting Q4 2016. These take about a year to be delivered from when they are initially offered.

If it is a standard line helmet, it could be available around Dec 2016/Jan 2017.

  5. Truthfully? I hope no one is working on a Stromtrooper R1 armor and that no one will ever be, considering how awful it is. About the helmet, someone started an interest thread over the RPF but interest was kinda low. I think the member was Reelprops in collab with TheRocketeer.

I mainly like the additional details of the new helmet and armor. I can understand some of the concerns with the basic shapes changing too much.

The Black Series helmet may be reducing some interest in a higher priced helmet?

I want a higher quality replica, but had some concerns with the helmet being offered. The brow strip should be a separate rubber piece.

I still expect Anovos or efx to offer a helmet.

Everyone doesn't need to like every product that is offered. There are plenty of replicas sold that I have no interest in. That doesn't mean I feel they should not be sold at all.

  6. I'm interested in a helmet. Maybe a suit depending on price. I'm afraid the suits will be much more expensive than the OT suits because of how they are made. I assume they will be injection molded instead of vacuformed.

Anovos will have some R1 items but they have not been announced yet.

  7. Mainly because I like the little details of the R1 helmet. But if those details keep it from being compatible with the OT suit, then it wouldn't work.

I guess it depends which details you plan on keeping and what you will change. I would imagine no details that are only on the R1 helmets would be allowed on a ANH/ESB/ROTJ costume.

  8. From what I'veheard from adam savage's experience with the black series hasbro helmets is that they're extremely accurate, he said around 98%. i believe... which is good, since he compared it to his " Prop Shop kylo ren helmet.... If it's that accurate, i trust them with this rogue one tk..

Adam said that about the BS Kylo helmet. It remains to be seen how accurate the BS stormtrooper is. I suspect it will need more mods to be 501st acceptable. Patching unwanted seems for one thing. Some feel the stormtrooper helmet may be a little too small. I wonder about the accuracy of the vocoder as well.

They may have needed to make more compromises with this helmet to stay at the price they wanted.

  9. I wonder how these can compare to molds and kits like ATA. Our kits have a lot of detail and are 501 approved already as long as we stay true to the build. I know the kylo helmet has been liked and some have modified it some what. The common knocks have been the voice changer and inside harness.

If you mean OT kits, those will not work for R1. This is a different design and will eventually have it's own CRL.

  10. We know. Things change. It's all good, we are just discussing the new things in the armor. :)

Discussing the differences is great. I don't understand why some appear to want 1976 low budget level armor in a 2016 film.

Does anyone think the empire would issue thigh pieces which are two thin pieces of curved plastic with a strip glued to the front? I don't think they would.

What is the purpose of the indistinct bumps on the ab? They are just suggestions of detail, not distinct parts.

  11. When the rebooted Star Trek films were made, should they have made everything look exactly like 60s era TV props? I certainly don't think so. The designs should be inspired by the original concepts, but not be an exact copy in most cases. The old designs were not meant to be seen in high def and Blu ray. That is a problem when making a big budget film so long after the original designs were done.

The new designs are just more modern interpretations of the same concept. They are making a film for 2016 so it needs to appeal to movie goers in 2016.

  12. The original costumes were never meant to be the ultimate representation of what stormtroopers look like. They were just quickly made props for a pretty low budget film. They even had two different versions (hero and stunt) in ANH. I don't believe for a second that those were actually supposed to be two different types of Stormtrooper armor. I bet the original makers would say they could have done a much better job with more time and budget.

The R1 suits are just a bigger budget and 40 year in the future representation of the same armor.

I think they look much more realistic than molded thin plastic with a little paint. The new ones have things that look like functional parts instead of shaky hand painted colors that don't have any obvious purpose. I don't have any issues with those changes.
