I ended up sanding the top part of the ear to shorten it which helped pull the ear in closer, and I did some sanding along the rest to help match the curve better. It also helped to push the ear tight into the bucket and drill a new hole on the bottom, but be careful when I did that I cracked the ear and had to take it off a 3rd time and fix itI also have the AM 2.0 and am really struggling with closing the ear gap.
If I squeeze the face and back together at the curves and squeeze the war, I can get them to fit really well, but when I install the screws the plastic isn't strong enough to keep it in place so the huge gap comes back.
It looks like if I were to trim the top (circle) of the ears to be shorter it might line up but I'd have to trim quite a bit. I'm not sure if this is the right way to do it.
Do you have any more detailed suggestions on how you closed that gap?

Those are my prescription lenses, the dark green lenses work great in the sunlight. And you'll see it soon enough I'll be in the parade next Saturday if your going and I'll be at the owls game that same nightLooking awesome Jason. Hope to see it in real life one day. I like the idea with the sunglass lenses behind the green lenses. I will have to try that out.

Now that I got those last few pictures posted here are the real pictures we all want to see. Here are my approved submission photos. I was approved this morning by my GML I'm just waiting on the email from the 501st to make it official and get my TKID #.
These are the additional photos that my GML wanted, which include the gap on the side between the kidney and abdomen pieces. She wanted little to no gap, which is technically a level 2 detail, I had already built my armor to level 3 so it was just a matter of suiting back up and taking these photos. Lastly she wanted a picture without the pauldron on too.
Lastly these are the pictures we took in case I needed any detail photos, These were not asked for but I'm including them here just the same.
Its been a long time to get here, even though its really only been 6 months, and it feels amazing to finally be approved. I cant wait till I get that email with my TKID # and its truly official and I get to join the 9500 brothers and sisters worldwide and help do my part in the 501st.

Well after quite some time I figured I needed to add some missing pictures of things I did to my build like how we painted it and the inside of my bucket and how I mounted the fans.
My bucket looks so photo-shopped in this picture. Just goes to show how white it originally was.
I need to be able to transport my gear so I picked this up at Walmart for about 30.00. I plan to upgrade to a husky bin later but I needed something to get my armor to the armor parties and once I got approved to be able to take it to troops.
Last was the upgrades to my bucket. I took an old pair of eye glass frames I had and took the lenses out and tapped them to the inside of the green lenses so I could see. I also installed the 4 fans with an Anker battery pack.

Oh the joys of sanding and trimming. Thankfully the AM kit comes mostly trimmed so I didn't have nearly as much work as you do.

No that one got cancelled, but I'm doing the parade and the owls game that same weekendWill do good sir. Are you going to the air show at the end of the month?
-
Yay let the fun begin! If you need help just pm me here or holler on the Alpine boards

I appreciate the feedback brother thank you. Hopefully it won't be an issue when I submit but if it does then at least I'll have a place to start.I think it would look more defined if you adjust or pad the chest armour to make a more vertical line with the ab plate. Most of us with the over 40 yr old belly have that issue.

Thanks airborne I can't wait to be out there with you guys and gals.See you in the dunes soon!

Thanks!Looking good.

Its been awhile I know but here's the latest. I finally managed to get it dirty with help from a fellow garrison member, Mark. I cannot begin to thank him enough for his help I think it looks amazing.
The green lenses are not in the bucket due to us painting it but it doesn't matter till I submit. Just waiting on my pauldron still and I can submit for approval.

I can fully understand not wanting to weather them, he's done some amazing craftsmanship and it's a shame we have to do it.I absolutely love my Blaster pouches. It killed me when I had to take some sandpaper to scuff and weather them up. Just did a little sanding on the edges. I used brown acrylic paint and also kicked them around in a dirt patch for weathering.
-
pouches arrived today from Blaster8266 on the MEPD boards. Amazing craftsmanship just waiting on my pauldron now
-
Hopefully I'll be able to submit for approval soon. My pouches should arrive today so the only thing I'm waiting on is my pauldron which I'll have to weather later once it arrives.Just need Jason to get his approval and need Kirk to get his PO status!
Kirk should be able to get PO status easy with just those couple minor corrections too. I'm planning to submit for PO as well and I've been looking at SWAT but that will be down the road a little bit if I decide to do it.
-
Thank you? I love you for all the harassing it seriously was the best decision I could've made! hahahaYou can thank me later.

Take that pauldron off until you dirty that armor! It's like staring into the sun it's so bright.
lol I completely agree that's why that will be the last picture I post of my armor till I get it dirty this Sunday. Once I finish weathering I'll post more pictures once I get my own pauldron and pouches too. I still like the look of the original TK's but the more I work towards and build the TD the happier I get. I love how much different each TD is compared to the TK's.

It will come sooner than you think trust me.Looking good Jason. Maybe one day mine will come.<br>
Thanks again for letting me hang out with you guys at the library. I had alot of fun. Next time I will be prepared to spot for you guys.
The pleasure is all ours kaar, even though I haven't been involved for much more than 5 months now I've loved every bit of it even as a spotter.

Ok finally a real update to my build thread. LoveMonkey was gracious enough to help me out this morning and take a good look at my armor and take a couple pictures for me. The orange pauldron and shoulder pouch are also his, and we put them on me so we could get a better idea of what my costume could look like.
I need to add more foam to my shins to keep them from spinning, especially the left shin with the sniper plate. I'm probably also going to trim about 1/2" off the bottom of my shins asas well so I can get them to sit a little lower on my boots so I can walk, and I need to trim my forearms more as I'm getting a nasty bit of armor bite on my right forearm.
In the home stretch now, hopefully not too much longer before I can finally do my submission photos. I've sent these pictures to my GML for her to review as I've done periodically throughout my build so shes current with my progress and so she can have me make any changes that need to be done so I can make my approval that much easier.

In order to reach higher levels of accuracy I removed the nylon shoulder straps and replaced them with elastic. I did double check to ensure what I was using was accepted at the higher levels first.
I measured the nylon and cut the elastic the same length and then placed them on top of each other and marked the sew on snap location with a pencil. Then one side at a time I removed the snap and sewed it back onto the new shoulder straps. Once both sides were complete I pulled off the nylon and glued the elastic back on.
Still need to do the female snap at the end which I'll do tonight.
About the only thing left I need to do in order to reach PO (level 2) is add the chest original strapping screws and get my pack built.
-
Simple update tonight as the only few things I completed was to clean up the glue from the snap covers on the belt, painted the 6 rivets on the abdomen and kidney pieces as well as the 2 snap rivets on the thigh ammo belt white and placed some velcro on the top of my boots to help hold down my shins

Thanks airborne, I have the elastic and I'm wanting to go for at least PO so I need to switch it I just havent had the ambition to do so with just wanting to be finished. But now that I'm done I need to revisit them and actually do it.Shims look good. You may want to go back and consider swapping the shoulder straps to elastic instead of nylon. It's ok for basic approval though if that's all you're aiming for. Gap from the shoulder bell to shoulder straps are fine.... only TKs need to be touching. Once you have a pack and pauldron on, it's hard to tell let alone try to get them touching. For your knee plate issue, put a piece of foam on the top of the shin and put another on the back of your thigh.
As far as the foam I already did exactly what you said I just havent put my armor on yet to confirm I used the right thickness yet but I plan to this week as I eliminate some armor bite.
Thanks for the other feedback that's good to know and helps. I'm glad I'm on the right path.

Thanks man I'm trying. It feels good to finally be done though other than the adjustments now and the fun part of getting it dirty. I already have the paints just need to wait till Mark is available.Stay on target, almost there
