Which way does the forearm armor go?
themaninthesuitcase replied to TK11057's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I'd say it's half way between both A and B. Run the edge of the 2" elastic along the cover strip with the body of the elastic on the inside of the arm. So approx 1 o'clock ish if the cover strip is noon. -
A Fubar'd Doopy's E-11 Build.
themaninthesuitcase replied to MisterFubar's topic in ANH BlasTech E11
It's literally about 10 minutes with a hack saw and some files. Give it a go your self first, you'll be surprised how much you can do when you try. -
Abs paste isn't structural. I'd probably be looking at using washers and painting them after the fact, though most will be covered by the trim.

One of these days I'm going to pull my finger out and get one of these!

Choices choices which Armour
themaninthesuitcase replied to Chelseablue's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
Welcome to FISD. If you start by reading these two posts it should get you 90% of the way there. Once you've done that if you have any specific questions people will be more than willing to help out. -
For the nozzle screws I had this issue on one side. I ended up using a Dremel with a diamond bit to enlarge the hole and then filled it with green stuff. I then redrilled the hole which came out better. As for the battery, you'll need to do that maths. Find the current use for the components in mA, sum them and compare to the battery. The draw on the LEDs and sound will be high but being as they won't be in use all that often, I'd probably factor in a 5-10% duty cycle on them as generous. It might be worth adding a battery meter in the scope display, but either way a bench test before fitting is certainly a smart move.

Having seen both many times, and often next to each other, neither is a bad pick. A lot of it comes down to the decision of bumps or no? TM also offers a bit more in the way of material options as he does Acrylic Capped (I think in 2mm) which is a much brighter white, but I prefer the look of plain ABS. TM is also very approachable and does post on here if you have any questions. I haven't spoken to RS so I can't comment on that one.

The 2018 What OT armor are you wearing poll
themaninthesuitcase replied to Daetrin's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
For the most part, your a minority at least as far as these stats go. I have a few that I've mixed labels for but that's not overly practical and I will probably go back and update them. In the end I went with "what armour are they using" as the majority part. If they have a kit more like your's, or it's not mentioned in some older ones, I leave it blank. Ideally I would like a better break down of armour and helmet as it's becoming more common again in the FO troopers but I'd say around 90% of troopers do use a matching set. -
The 2018 What OT armor are you wearing poll
themaninthesuitcase replied to Daetrin's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Ask and ye shall receive. This is as at this morning for EIB and just now for Centurion. It includes people with multiple awards*, and all kinds inc TFA, TLJ etc. Bare this in mind for Anovos where it's not strictly OT but there's a few TFA/TLJs in there, often pulling double duty I am sure. Also remember this is all time data, which is why FX has such a strong showing. Also at 1.03% is MFX but below that everything less than 1%. * The current EIB number is 809 but thats 809 people with EIB. So people like Joseph, Tony and Glen only count once in the EIB number not many, many times each. -

If they donāt I do. Though Iām a bit out of date now, Iāve not updated since September. -
Not overly keen on the blue border, I'd probably go with gold frame and keeping the writing silver for all EIB awards. The 5 clusters above look messy, looks much better on the ribbons.

CableGuy's DoopyDoos (feat. T-Jay kit) ANH E-11 WIP
themaninthesuitcase replied to CableGuy's topic in ANH BlasTech E11
I have a Gaz mag on my doopy and did pretty much what you plan on doing. Cut it shorter minimise how much needed to be ground out. I also trimmed the release latch bit on the mag to where it butted up against the body. Then I did the bare minimum of grinding to get it to fit in to keep the strength. Been fine so far Shame it needed fixing. I keep thinking I should buy and make a mold my self but I don't really have the time at the moment. -
CRL change regarding overlap construction?
themaninthesuitcase replied to bobafret's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Just seen this pop up on a new build so good to see its in hand. Just to throw in my two penneth, I'd like to see overlap gone period. There's no real reason for it anymore and any vendor worth their salt wouldn't supply armour like it. That said above some fair points are made, how much do you penalise some one for either old armour or a bad choice when purchasing. -
My first build
themaninthesuitcase replied to Sprocket's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Hi Dave, You haven't filled in your profile so I don't know where you're based, if you update this then you might be able to get some more localised help. As for stuff you have already I'll add some quick comments below, some are already covered. Do not cut off the cod, it should remain 1 piece. Whilst some people do this, its generally more experienced people with a good reason to do so. You have a fairly large side gap, any way you can get the Ab plate and kidney closer together at all? Belt you do with being a little higher up. If you look at this image you'll see the top of the belt it roughly level with bottom of the button plate. Whilst overlap is acceptable in the CRL for ANH Stunt most/all will build with butt connection an cover strips. You may well need to change this.] The hand plates look enormous, probably a good opportunity to swap to more accurate versions. Drop boxes are a touch low, the top shoul butt up to the belt. As far as I can see the blaster looks like it might be a doopy doo? Some better images will be useful here as well as closer ones of the armour. None of this is meant as a criticism, we just want you to have the best suit you can. -
I actually prefer the square, with slightly rounded a close 2nd. Very round looks bad. Other comments: Admin might be a tad dark but I don't know how much more you can bring it up with out getting to close to chief admin. Also that shield with helmet is the old one, there is a newer version available. Other than that top work, well done sir.

Looks like you're making great progress. I like how you plan to use real hardware, always bugs me when people model in screws when real ones aren't that expensive.

Sorry you got bitten, sounds like exactly what we were worried about. As far as I can work out the only thing UK about this company is an address in Cornwall, which is just an accountancy firm so would be a registered business address. Not uncommon for people who work from home. Everything else doesn't seem to add up. As you say $ for the transactions, all the photos on the site are clearly from Asia etc. You haven't actually said where you are, I am guessing the UK? If so we have a lot of very good options if you wanted a second go. If so either post here or pm me and I can walk you through them.
