  1. Troopers,

As you know, the Kyber and Jedha Rogue 1 troopers are going to be calling the MEPD home.  We are working on the CRL now.  If anyone here has either of the packs and armor and is willing to be our models, please let me know ASAP.  We'd love to get this done soon.

I'll check back on this thread, so post here and we'll be in touch.

  2. We come to a different conclusion, is all. I don't think the MEPD should get the Jedha CRL for the same reason (I assume) they don't acknowledge the Special Edition sandtrooper in their CRL and didn't want the HWT: these three are clearly just stormtroopers with accessories, and not the very unique '76 Tunisia armor.

I think this comment again goes back to several years ago and what I'm assuming was the mindset back then.  We are very keen on expanding our CRLs.

Just so everyone is aware, MEPD is working on a CRL for the Special Edition trooper.  How do I know? I'm the command staff member working on the initial draft and the wording while we get pictures to make it official.  So keep an eye out for at least a partial draft coming soon.

  3. I can see where both sides can lay claim. I don't have a TD but have visited over there many times. It does seem a little stale, but compared to FISD all the other detachments seem to move a bit slower.

After reading the discussion I have kind of changed my outlook. Some new blood and new costumes would give them a shot in the arm. If I have a vote I would sat the Jedha trooper w/ pack goes to MEPD and FISD her the other pack. This seems like the "fairest" option and could possibly build up the ranks of MEPD.

This to me seems to be the easiest way for both detachments to get some of the new Rogue One goodness.  I really think it could bolster the MEPD with some new costumes, much like the Shoretrooper at Pathfinders (not looking to stir up that debate here, just saying).  I also think the SE Sandtrooper could be a nice addition as well.  Of course, it's all moot until the LMO decides.

I can see where dutchy comes from though, in that we'd love to have all the pack troopers over at MEPD, but that's not going to happen realistically after all the love FISD has given the HWT.

I'm really looking forward to the decision being made so we can get some CRLs done.

  4. This is a fascinating discussion.  As a Sandtrooper myself and part of the MEPD command staff, I would love to see some expansion of our CRLs.  I agree with one point raised above, there should probably be a CRL for the Special Edition trooper for anyone who may be interested.  I'm not keen on the look myself as the weathering is very heavy, but why should I prevent someone else from doing it if that's what they want.

That being said, I would love to see the Jedha trooper in the MEPD.  I know there are some small pieces that make it fit with the OT TK, but the overall look to me says Sandtrooper.  And for the comment above about MEPD being a ghost town, we've had an increase in traffic since the last election and I think having the Jedha trooper could help increase our traffic even more.

I also think it's interesting that the official movie book called the Jedha troopers sandtroopers.  I would think that anyone who buys that book and sees that pictures would think to look at MEPD for that CRL.  Wouldn't want to confuse new recruits more than they already can be with the wealth of information.

I understand you're love here for the HWT.  I don't know that we could take that from you, but I personally think the Jedha trooper is a natural fit for us.

  5. This was posted over on MEPD today.  Thought I would share it here with you guys, especially those who are making those Jedha backpacks.  If you are making one of these new packs, come join us over at MEPD.

The OP got this picture from the new book "STAR WARS Rogue One: The Complete Visual Guide".

  6. One thing I've heard from members in my own Garrison who have Anovos kits is that the plastic is very thin in some areas.  One member completed his kit only a few months ago and already has cracks in the plastic in the helmet and another area (and I don't think he's been rough on it).  Not trying to persuade you away from Anovos, but something to consider.

Does anyone have one these that would be willing to trade 1 for 1? I have an Alpine Garrison patch that I'd be willing to trade for one.

PM me if you're willing. Thanks in advance.

  8. For my HyperFirm D-ring installation, I drilled the hole as Joseph indicated above, then cut a small section of the D-Ring out. Use 2 pairs of pliers to bend the d-ring open (offset the two sides), which allows you to slide it into the new hole. Twist it back closed, and done. :)

I did this with mine. Mine was scratch built from a coat hanger though

  9. Now that I've finally finished my Sandtrooper pack (and after searching over at MEPD), I thought I'd ask you guys as well.  What do you use to transport/store your pack?  After all the time and money I spent making mine, I want to protect it and keep it as nice as can be.  Just curious what you guys are using.
