  2. IMPERIAL BOOTS VS TK BOOTS

    I have both TK Boots and Imperial Boots and replaced the insoles of both. I found the original insoles for both to be pretty thin and uncomfortable.

     

    I much prefer the TK Boots as they are wider and fit better for me. Both pairs are size 12 (I wear size 11 but have wide feet) and although the length of both boots are fine, the Imperial Boots are narrower and squeeze my toes. I have other boots from Imperial Boots - TIE pilot and Tank Trooper (also size 12) - and they are fine in the width, but the TK version are much narrower. Here's a picture of the TK Boots (on the left side) and Imperial Boots (on the right side) right shoe. The front of the boot is much tighter, as is the opening at the top down to the ankle.

Applied the two to pretty much the only available area, inside the chest plate. The only fear I have is the audio being muffled by the velcro. We'll just have to see I guess. One thing I do need to pick up is a substatially reduced Output/Line in wire. I will inquire with Icomm to find if there is a reduced section available. The only wire left is going up into my lid for the mic. Untested for muffle as the speaker faces the plate/velcro.

     

    Another option in case you need more: I made a little bracket from ABS which I bent on both sides and glued inside the ab section. The speaker then clips onto the middle section. There is also room in there for the extra cabling. When I had an icomm, it was velcroed onto a part of the bracket that was glued down.

It could work for an entire troop no problem. size on the helmet would be minimal depending on the camera used because lcd shutters are extremely thin.

    A prototype would be awesome. Ideally it would be small enough to be contained within the helmet, but I don't know if that would be possible. 

     

    My coworker has been playing around with a lot of VR headsets and one of them has several cameras on it so when you wear it, you are still able to see the environment around you (although it was in black and white). I wonder if something like that would be possible (if so I can't imagine it being cheap).

    This would be very cool to have - how many times have you been at a troop looking for a particular trooper or trying to organize the troopers for a picture, but people can't hear you or are too far away.

    So I think about 4 or 5 months after I posted this, I decided to start collecting coins. My case on the wall soon lost the patches and pins and became dedicated to coins. Then I had to add another case, and a few months later, a third. My wife won't let me put any more cases on the wall, so everything else is in a binder. I mostly display Detachment and Garrison coins (and anything to do with my Garrison's squads) as well as one case dedicated to mostly Disney.

  22. Bucket lens mounting.

    I made my own template by putting a piece of paper inside the helmet covering the eye holes, then use a pencil to trace the eye holes from the outside. Then you will have the shape of your eye holes on the paper. Just cut those out - you'll want to cut out a larger size than what you traced so that they will cover the eye holes and there will be enough room for screws. Test the cut out paper in the helmet to check the size. Then tape them to the lens and cut them out. I used tin snips which worked well to cut the lens.

    I got one of the Wireless Trooping Systems mics when they were selling them on the forums a couple years ago. I don't think they sell them anymore. The only issue I've ever had with it was accidentally pairing it with another trooper's mic when we apparently both turned them on at about the same time. I was just about to get on an elevator to the troop when I heard someone else talking through my speaker. Luckily it happened before getting on the elevator and not after I got off. :)
