  1. Before you cut the back of the knees, try just removing the return edge from the back. I was having a little bit of discomfort from the back of the knees and removed the return edges on the back of the thighs only. Now I'm able to climb stairs with no pain. And if removing the return edge isn't enough, then you can trim the back of the knee.
  2. How do you organize everything inside? Do you use the tray that comes with the bin with all of your armor inside? I'm still trying to find the best way to store everything in mine.
  3. Thank you, and I appreciate you sending those newer hand guards! You rock!
  4. Thank you Tony! I'm so excited to be among the Centurions! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. The scope rail seems to be pretty sturdy at the bend even with those little stress cracks. Luckily I'm using this blaster as a display piece, so it shouldn't break due to manhandling it. I set a goal to have this blaster completed by the end of May. That should give me plenty of time, but I think a deadline will help force me to finish rather than set it aside again. It's also been kind of fun getting back at it.
  7. I got a little more work done on the E11 this week. I wanted to get a lot more details, but I think the time I have is limiting me and I want to get the blaster done before I fall into another lull. I was able to finish the power cylinders but forgot to take a picture of the finished result (still unpainted). The last picture I have is before adding the anything to the rear. After looking at that picture I think I made the strip in front too big. It should probably be about half the size. I don't think I'm going to take it off and cut it as there are other items I'd rather get to and finish. The little "wings" on the sides wouldn't stay put (I think my CA glue is getting old) so I put notches where the wings would go. The wings then just slid into the notches and are snug enough to not fall out, but I did add some glue anyways to be safe. I then started adding pins to the smaller items like the bayonet lug, charging handle, etc. I used a small rod that came with the cheap counter set I got. I also added a screw to the inside of the magazine. Since this picture, I also drilled out the spot where the grub screw will go and used some carving tools to clean up the crevices. Then I decided to shape the scope rail from T-Jay's kit. I used a cutting wheel on the rotary tool to cut the rail, and it took a while. I'm not sure what you're supposed to use, but it worked well enough. I also wasn't sure how to bend the rail, but eventually I stuck it in a portable workbench's vice and went at it. It was a bit scary as it sounded like wood cracking when I started. When finished, there was a good bend but one side showed stress cracks. Hopefully it won't be a problem. I also made the small bracket that will hold the counter using the same bending process and coming up with the same result. I still need to drill the holes for the scope and counter and I think the counter is the last item to work on before I start painting everything. Opening up that hole on the counter has been time consuming and every time I look at it I tell myself I'll finish that later. Hopefully later doesn't turn out to be 6 months down the road!
  8. After taking photos for EIB I realized the left thigh was being pushed in from the holster, and since my legs are skinny and the thighs are pretty loose, a gap was showing on the inner side. I put some padding on the outer half which stopped the thigh from being pushed over. A suggestion on my EIB app was to bring in the shoulder bells by trimming the return edge on the bells as well as tightening the straps. I did both - I didn't realize how loose the straps were on the bells. I pulled off one side on each and reglued them tighter, bringing in the sides slightly. I also decided to add bicep to shoulder bell straps as this was on my to do list but I never got around to it. I'm using this to experiment with double snaps on elastic since I think I'm going to do something like this on the chest to ab strap. Currently my single chest to ab strap will pop apart if I try to bend over or look down to see in front of me, so adding either a double snap or maybe two straps instead of one will prevent that.
  9. Thanks! There are so many build threads it's easy to miss. I just got EIB approval this morning too! So happy. Now I need to make a few adjustments and I will apply for Centurion.
  10. Yep, I also used the washers and nuts that were on the screws from the helmet. The screws were slightly smaller than the holes in the belt clips, but with the washers and nuts they hold fine. Make sure to put the screws in before putting on the end caps, otherwise you'll have to take the end caps off to get the washers and nuts on the inside. I only made that mistake twice Here is a picture with them installed:
  11. That was something I wanted to do before (for all of the ab buttons) but I just don't have the know-how to do it. One thing I was thinking was hooking up the iComm's push to talk button to one of them.
  12. Thanks Tony! I'll get to work on those items soon and then submit for Centurion. Thanks for your Anovos build thread too, it was a great resource while I was building mine!
  13. Mine is a little weird - I'm also a railfan (I like watching trains and modelling them) and I live across the street from the tracks, so I see a lot of trains go by. One of the more unique engines that I enjoy seeing is numbered 7695. I just stuck a 1 in front for no real reason.
  14. Thanks guys! I have a new "to do" list and I added trimming more on the eyes to it. My first trim on the eyes didn't take off nearly enough since I was scared I'd mess up and take off too much, but I think I'm more comfortable with the armor now and can do a better job. I will also add a drop of glue to the thigh ammo pack to keep it in place. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  16. I checked on the hand guards on the Nomex gloves today, and they seem to be holding. However, I tugged a little on one corner and it peeled up a bit from the glove. I did use a little pressure, but I wanted to make sure that it wouldn't tear off during a troop if I caught it on something. So I'm not sure if that is going to work. But since I got my Anovos gloves, I CA glued the justjoseph hand guards to those. So if I can't get the Trooperbay hand guards to stay put on the Nomex gloves, I can always wear the rubber gloves and get some thinner cloth gloves for lining so my hands don't sweat like crazy. I also decided to try redoing the bracket for the electronics as one piece with bends rather than gluing pieces together since gluing the parts together didn't seem very strong, especially with electronics strapped to them. So I grabbed a large leftover piece from my armor and cut out a rectangle. This time I used the soldering iron to heat the spots where I would need to bend the plastic to 90 degree angles (I held the soldering iron parallel to the plastic several millimeters above the platic to heat it). I read someone else using this method, and it worked pretty well. I glued the bracket onto the ab plate so that the Aker speaker sits behind the large button plate. Once the glue cures I'll add the vecro to iComm and Memorex box and wire it up.
  17. "Stick figure" trooper actually looks pretty cool - I would be tempted to leave it like that with just the bucket, gloves and boots!
  18. I've been approved and I'm officially TK-17695! Now I need to take some pictures this weekend and submit for EIB!
  19. Wow it's been a long time since I've updated this thread! I haven't actually done any work on my Doopy's since my last update in October. I think after I finished the scope and grip I kind of lost focus and moved on to other hobbies (mostly my HO train table). But then towards the end of January I got my Anovos TK kit and after a month and a half I mostly finished it which really made me want to work on my blaster again. So today I finally jumped back into it. I had the day off from work and after doing a few other tasks, I took the box of Doopy parts to the garage and got to down to business. Folding stock first. I found some small rivets that looked like the right size for the ones in the middle of the folding stock, so I drilled out the resin and they fit perfectly. Then the domes were sanded off from the hinge part and holes drilled for a screw which is about the right size. The screws are also a good length so I don't need to cut them, I can just screw them both in to hold the folding stock on. Next up I needed a screw to hold the front of the folding stock to the barrel. I had a lot of left over screws that I bought for the helmet ears, so I used one of them on the front. The head is on the inside of the barrel with the screw going down - you can kind of see it in this picture looking down the front of the barrel. It took a few minutes to get the screw in from the inside - it involved tweezers and a little swearing. Once I got it in I applied some CA glue so it doesn't fall back into the barrel (I had to make the hole a little larger than the screw so that I was able to get it in). The screw will go into a hole in the folding stock where it will be glued. Folding stock done, I moved on to the power cylinders. I cleaned out the inside, shaved off the resin nut from the front tubes and basically started following Tino's tutorial. After I made the capacitors, I had some green stuff left over, so I decided to add some to the front sight and used a carving tool to add the texture. I might have added a little too much on the front side, but it looks pretty good. I'm waiting for the green stuff to cure on the capacitors before I finish the power cylinders. So I switched to the magazine receiver and magazine. I hollowed out the receiver more to fit Gazmosis's magazine. I had to trim a little from the bottom of the magazine since I didn't hollow out the receiver deep enough. I then made a front sight pin using a screw. I cut off a piece and used a cutting disk on the rotary tool to make it look like the pictures on the blaster reference thread. After cutting it to size it fit perfectly in the front sight that Thrawn's guard sent me months ago. I also started hollowing out the hengstler counter since I bought a cheap counter from Amazon. I didn't get very far with that before calling it a day. Hopefully this weekend I can do more work.

  21. I had today off from work so I had a lot of time to work on stuff. After working on my wife's armor for most of the morning, I went back to the bracket I'm making for the electronics that will go in the ab plate. I've seen other people do this and it seems like a good way to hold everything. The Aker will be clipped to the middle, and the iComm and Memorex receiver will be velcroed to the two wings. I haven't glued it on or added velcro yet, but it looks like it will work. I also re-glued the latex handguards from Trooperbay onto my Nomex gloves using CA glue this time. After a couple hours I checked on one and it seemed to be stuck on pretty well. I'll check again tomorrow and see how they are. Then I spent the rest of the day working on my Doopydoo's E11 which I haven't touched since....oh....September or October last year? I made some really good progress, but I'll update my Doopydoo's thread in the next couple of days with that.
