Great work on tackling your issues. You will be at the finish line in no time.

Hi. I'm new too and also looking at the AP commissioned build. I'm in the middle of no where so it's hard for me to determine how much use I'm going to get from the armor. I'd hate for it to be sitting in a box for a year at a time.

Not to hijack the original posters thread, but perhaps if you get a set of armor you should attempt to assemble it yourself. Look up the Garrison that would be in your area and ask for help. It not only would save you money, but it would be an icebreaker to get to know future fellow garrison members as well. That is if you are looking to join the 501st. It is a fun experience. I just finished my second stormtrooper, doing 99% of the work by myself. On my first one, I had help from various sources, both virtually and physically, and that is what helped me build my second. I still needed guidance but I was more comfortable doing it on my own this time around.

Welcome to the FISD. There are many great people and lots of information here that will get you to the finish line. Have fun building your armor.

How's that sniper knee coming along Mark?
Good. Here are the pictures I took of it for my Expert Infantry submission that I be turning in soon..m

I’m very pleased at how the belt looks now that the drop boxes are tacked down with glue.
Painted the screws on my thermal detonator.
…..and I filled the backs of my thighs with Sugru.

I guess I will keep this thread going as I reach for Expert Infantry and Centurion. I have since fixed my sniper knee issue by removing it and gluing it on the correct shin. For my submission photos, I adjusted my straps so things align better. Tonight, I glued the straps on my drop boxes to hold them in place. on my belt. I will attempt to put velcro to hold the belt up closer to the bottom of my ab plates. If that doesn't work, I will remove the snaps on my belt and replace them at different spots to get it to sit right. Thinking ahead for Centurion, I have ordered and received Sugru and will glue scrap behind the back ridges of my thighs to fill the gaps. Pictures will be incoming soon.

Great news, congratulations trooper and welcome to the ranks (just watch those drop box positions )
Looking forward to seeing your EIB application soon
Thanks Glen. I will be gluing down the elastic on the drop boxes to the belt to keep them in place.

After making some adjustments, I sent photos in to my GML. I found out today I was approved for basic. Last night, I began taking some of the necessary photos to submit for Expert Infantry. I ordered Sugru to close the small gaps at the back of my thighs. Hoping to reach higher levels soon.

Great work a few tweaks and you should breeze right through.
It is hard when you can't be in two places at once to check for gaps and positions, I ended up getting a full length mirror just so I can check how I look in approval photos
My wife kept getting irritated when she was helping me, as I was looking at my reflection in the windows. LOL Thanks for all your advice @gmrhodes13. You are a legend.

Hi there. I have finally finished my helmet (what a relief). I realized after posting a Pre-Approval thread, thanks to Glenn, I found that I had mistakingly glued my sniper knee on the wrong shin. I since then have removed it and reapplied it onto the correct shin. I also made a block of scrap plastic and glued it to the back with the hope that it will help kick it forward a bit, so it doesn't catch the bottom of my thigh armor. Just waiting for it to dry so I can retake the photos. I will have some minor tweaks to make along the way, but I am considering my armor complete. Here are the photos I took last night for my Pre-Approval thread. Not to knock her, but my wife took the photos, and there are some discrepancies. When I take my actual submission photos, I aim to correct them.

@gmrhodes13I believe I glued the sniper knee on the wrong leg, by accident. Looks like I’ll be taking it off and switching it.

Hello everyone. This will be the second kit I have built, and I am hoping to go for Centurion this time around. Thanks in advance, for any tips and guidance. My wife helped my take photos so there are some discrepancies. LOL

Getting around to using my tube stripe templates from Trooperbay. I’m going to need to do a little clean up, but I think the side I’ve done so far turned out okay.

Thanks for the advice Q. I’ve been plugging away at sanding things down and it does seem to be getting better. I’ll take it off for some more work on it. Hopefully I’ll be done soon.

Ughhh. The right one still need some work. I think the left is okay. I’ll let you guys guide me on this.

Back at working on the helmet. Dave at Dave’s Darkside Depot was gracious enough to do a video chat to help me with my ears. Here’s my left one.
I’m getting ready to attach the right one and put the bottom screws in. Hopefully I’ll be able to send pictures in a bit.

Hello everyone. I glued my shoulder bridges to my chest plate last night.
All that is left, with my body armor, is having to make the bicep to forearm connections. A friend is trying to help me with the construction of my helmet (a whole other story). Updates on that coming soon.

Good afternoon. Well, I started making the strapping system.
Here’s what will hold my thighs up.
I connected the kidney and an plates with the split rivets.
I covered them with the loop side of Industrial strength velcro. But for some reason I used white, I’ll have to switch it to black.
So I did an initial test fitting, and I came up with an obstacle. It seems that the chest and back plates do not line up properly. Here’s what it looks like. These are off my back side.

Right side:
After I lined the chest plate up different, the met up like this.

I would like to make the shoulder straps, but this kinda threw me off. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
