Looking good! Remember the examples in ESB were hardly perfect. They slapped the paint on there and started filming!

Praetorian Blasters makes a good blaster. A little more expensive but on par with hyperfirm.

These should work pretty good for you and they are pretty affordable. Man there are a lot more options for women than there are for men!!

Last post of the day. Trimmed the biceps (usual comparison photos below) My brother is playing video games in the basement so I'll have to save the very loud fine-tuning with the Dremel for tomorrow.
Lastly, I put what I /think/ is the right pairings of biceps next to each other. If they are labelled 1-4 top to bottom, then the pairings would be 1/2 and 3/4.
It's so hard to tell. The biceps sort of have this outward curve that makes it somewhat better to tell which is which but also the edges don't line up very nicely... I'll have to do what I can with the dremel tomorrow and then pray that cover strips will mend all. Surely I'll get better at this as time goes on? One can hope...

The one with the “thumb print” is the left side. (Top:left, bottom:right) mines a 4 year old WTF kit too.

Well it's pretty cool to be back My first question is, it's been awhile since I've done any of this. I've done drop boxes, thermal detonator, most of the helmet (but I'll come back to it because I left off on the ears). I started trimming shins but stopped there. What's a good place to pick back up that's small and doable? Any recommendations (links to sources are also useful)?
I’d work on the arms (forearms, biceps and shoulder bells) that’s where I started after doing my helmet.- 1

For Centurion it’s “in addition” to the other requirements. Also during submission it’s submit for basic. Get approval. Submit for EIB. Get approved. Submit for Cent. Get approved
As for the other 3, I’d personally go for the lower grit so that you aren’t removing too much material at a time. Your hobby store should be able to tell you what brush will work best with an enamel paint, probably a synthetic bristle would work best. I found having a good liner brush works well for most of the required painting on the TK as it not too much. I used a technique that I came up with for painting my stripes as I never have good luck with templates.
Here’s a link to my thread if you want to check it out. http://bit.ly/jimsstormtrooperbuild

Good morning! For all things Sandy you’ll want to head over to http://forum.mepd.net. RS is a great choice no matter what version of trooper you are doing. Good luck!

This is the best place to go for that advice. The vetted maker post is constantly updated so all are good choices. Keep in mind some are suited to specific body types and versions of trooper armor. All the info is in this thread and although it’s a lot of info I highly suggest you take in as much as possible.
Have Fun!

No need to post a picture. If you’re looking into becoming a scout trooper you’ll want to head over to the pathfinder detachment. https://www.501stpathfinders.com there will be helpful folks just like here on the FISD to help get you squared away! If someday you want a full plastic spaceman you know where to find us!
Take care and enjoy your journey!

So I didn't know where to post this but introductions first. I am a 21 year old fan who grew up with the prequels. as a child I always wanted to wear trooper armor but I had my own personal insecurities. Nonetheless I collected everything Star Wars growing up until 12 and was obsessed with the Galactic Empire. I remember I always had them as my main characters when I would mess around with my toys as a child. More info though about why I joined... I am very short (5'00) and afflicted with moderate scoliosis and pigeon chest. I just wanted to know if it's possible if there is a class of trooper armor (like Scout/Storm/Cold/etc) that experienced troopers would recommend that I could fit in or I could modify it to fit. I will post pictures of my torso if the moderation approves. I do plan on joining my local garrison but only until I can know for certain that realistically it is possible to don those buckets.
Good news! We can assist in guiding you through fitting into whatever armor you choose! If it’s outside of the armor we support we can link you up with the correct detachment. We accept troopers of all shapes and sizes! You just need to figure out what you’d like to do (That’s the trickiest part)

Thank you Jim! I’ll be looking at doing some hot water bathing for my shoulders, and maybe kidney and butt plates soon. Might need your help for this.
I’ve got a big canning pot that works great for this!

This build was over three years ago and I don’t remember where I got the reference from. The amount of information on this site has grown exponentially since that time and when I get a moment I will correct it.
By the way it’s also possible to private message me so that I can correct it.

After you wear this armor you will start to understand why we take off as much as return edge as we can! If you are needing some help we are having an armor party here in Portland on the 20th. We’d love to help you get this closer to being ready for submission.
Here are the details from our forum:

Just my two cents here but I have had a WTF (Walt’s Trooper Factory) for the past three years and it has held up great. The pricing is pretty decent and his turn around times and customer service are fantastic. Also the details are good on mine and they have only gotten better in the past three years. I’m 5’9” and about 165 lbs and there was plenty to work with. I believe he now also has some options for folks that are bigger than me in the legs and arms department.
