Has anyone looked into sluice matting? This is used for gold mining to help trap the gold. I've talked to 2 sellers and explained our application, they both said the "rubber is flexible." I have one seller sending me a sample.
Maybe if not better than Anovos, it could be used for other TFA TK kits.

Has anyone found corrugated rubber sheets that would work? Most seem too thick.

....a single source....who currently can't keep up with demand...
That could be said about the Anovos TFA kit and their bubbled lenses. If the current TFA troopers can use non-screen accurate boots, why couldn't I use flat lenses? The supplier of bubbled lenses is a single source who can't keep up with demand. The classic TK boots are simply not screen accurate, just as flat lenses are not screen accurate. I'm not trying to convince anyone to allow flat lenses, I'm just working through the flawed reasoning.
I get that folks with the Anovos kit want to troop, but I have a hard time feeling bad that they didn't sign up in time for Francois' boots or have to wait just a little longer to receive their boots. I also don't see anything wrong with his boots, if at least for level 1.
If the CRL is based off the only current available kit (Anovos), then why not the boots? Sure, there might be some delays with Francois' boots, but there's even more delays with the Anovos TFA kit.

Have all the trailer shots proved they all have bubbled lenses? Unless the classic TK bubbled lenses fit, this will be a pain point for fan-made helmets. Maybe we could also use the term "Flat lenses are acceptable until reliable sources for bubbled lenses become available." ?
For the boots, shouldn't this be removed? We already have several suppliers for boots. Personally it makes me cringe when I see a TFA trooper with classic TK boots. The TFA trooper overall looks chunky which looks great with the new boots. The classic TK is more slender so narrow boots fit perfect. Swapping these look terrible (IMHO).

Where did you find the harness? Or did you make the whole thing?
-
Forgive me if it was already mentioned, I searched and didn't find it. Does "rubber like material" for the gaskets mean we could use fabric?
-
I confirmed with a fellow trooper the TFA helmet has bubbled lenses, the one from Anovos at least. Can anyone advise if these can easily be made or if you've seen some for sale? Asking Anovos is not an option as this is for a helmet that will be offered in runs. Also couldn't be sure the Anovos lenses would even fit.

Hey Mike, I live in Sandy Springs. Definitely join the GA 501st board and request cadet status. You should come out to one of our troops as a handler. That would be a good time to ask questions and see how other kits are made.

Maybe I missed it, what is your new method of sewing gaskets? I can't tell by your picture. Fantastic build thread btw!

I guess I meant fan made armor that isn't licensed.

Are there vendors who sell directly off their websites? For example, with the biker scout armor I was able to purchase directly from SC's website using Paypal and he had it to me in a couple of weeks. With the TK it seems like you need to send someone an email and knock 3 times on a back door. It's also not 24/7/365, you have to get word they are doing a run and then make contact.

I know a lot of people have already requested these gloves. I'm one of the 30 for the boots (Joe M) so I'm hoping I can snag these gloves at the same time to save on shipping. Size XL. I will look out for the sales thread.

Yeah I knew that. This is the same helmet I'm looking at. I was trying to see if you were also buying this in hopes that an armor kit comes out or if you just wanted to collect the helmet.

Are there any solid leads on armor? I see helmets, boots, gloves, but no armor or under suit. This is my next build so long as I can get my hands on parts.
-
As mentioned, you'll find everything you need on bikerscout.net. I just finished my TB so if you have questions you can PM me.
-
Steve, Are you planning to build the entire suit or are you just building the helmet?
-
Krista - that makes sense, however, I'm hoping that's not the case. Thanks for the input.

You mentioned the kit would be from "whomever" then you mentioned the bondo stuff. Do you anticipate that fan-made armor would require bondo? Not just a trim/paint/glue? I know it's all speculation..
I would also add to go ahead and acquire ANY parts you can. I'm ordering my shoes soon, followed by helmet and maybe gloves. This is all in hopes that fan-made armor comes out.

I spoke with Artisan FX props and the V3 version will be better. I believe they will be adding the netting in the mouth area. It's still being designed so no timing as of yet.
I'll be picking one up as soon they become available so I'll post detailed pictures. If for some reason it doesn't meet 501st requirements down the road then I'll sell it. It will be a start to my build.
-
Not sure if the chrome trooper has the same armor. Definitely a different helmet.
-
Hopefully the v3 version will add the mesh to the mouth area. I'm still waiting on the armor.. does anyone have any leads on fan made armor??

When you want $2500 for yours ping me 😄

Me and you both.
Seriously though, you'll have to wait until what looks like next year to purchase an Anovos kit. I do know of a couple people building kits, one of which might be offered for sale in the next month or two.
I would recommend going to therpf.com for fan made armor. Both this forum and the RPF are useful, but the RPF has build threads of fan made armor.
Good luck!
