So Beautiful!

Love it! Question about the back armour, are you going to be doing the inset details asymmetrically like the shore troopers at the star wars celebration? Interested in a kit if you end up makimg them :-)

<img src="http://woondu.com/images/celebrity/star-wars-rogue-one-shore/shore-trooper12.jpg"alt="shore-trooper12.jpg">

Reelprops from the RPF makes a lot of helmets.
Sometimes his helmets lack in the nitpicky 100% details depending on when and how much details he has when he starts (reference materials), but over all decent gear.
Yeah looks like the Rocketeer is the one that actually modeled the reel props helmet as well - his quality is good but his accuracy can sometimes leave something to be desired. He takes constructive criticism very poorly, I've also talked to a couple people that were former business partners with him, both said he screwed them over. That being said I own a helmet from the rocketeer and I like it, but he is a very cocky very rude individual I try to avoid dealing with lol.

Ouuuuu, looking good - cant wait for more shore trooper updates

Ouuuuu... So pretty - Also looking forward to building a shoretrooper

Go to amazon and search gopro chesty. There are some after market makers that are very similar and as low as $7.
Haha Thanks! Ordered one off Ebay for 7.09 USD, with upgraded shipping lolz. Going be much better then having it slung around my neck like my old one!!
-
Ordered an Aker amp, the Neck mic, and an iCOMM . Was getting lots of feedback when I tilted my head using a random amp I bought years ago slung around my neck. What I'm wondering is did you have to modify the GoPro mount you use? If so can you post a pic?

BTW, I trooped about 90 days in the suit yesterday, and nearly 4.5 hours straight today. I have a few issues that can be fixed with better strapping, but otherwise the suit for me at least was more comfortable than a regular TK. The helmet has more visibility front/peripheral but you lose being able to see out of the "teeth", which is harder around kids. It will really benefit from a fan.
Can you sit in it? :-p

you guys are giving my an anxiety attack! That black one with the cape

*gasp* Sexy!

Having my own AP/AM Frankenstein this suit doesn't tempt me too much, the only temping part for me would be if their strapping system works well. That's the main thing I'm constantly tweaking on my own suit to increase its ease of use and confidence while wearing. Other then that I think I'll keep an eye on how the quality turns out the products people have been pre ordering (Snowtrooper, Stormtrooper, Vader, Tie Pilot). If wall goes well maybe I'll pick up their Episode 7 trooper when its announced ;-).
-
Yep not gonna lie pretty excited for that suit *drool* Although indie revolver says that the hood wont be in the movie.

Right on guys, thanks for the recommendations and a good ol' boost in confidence! Hope to be able to start posting pictures soon.
Its daunting at first, but once you get going its hard to stop ;-p

Exciting!! Take your time, cant wait to see your progress

My suggestion is to NOT buy armor right away. Wait a bit, and research. There's a lot of options available. I myself haven't bought a set yet, but I'm playing with helmets to get used to how the hobby works.
Play around, read, and figure out what works for you. Before I started reading, I didn't know an FX from an AP, from an ATA. Learn, absorb.
Welcome by the way.
And even after you order, keep researching ;-p. Once you decide on your armour watch videos or read build threads so you know what you are doing, you can learn all sorts of tricks that make life a lot easier haha.
-
Yup go to that getting started link, there's a list of reputable venders and wether the sets are fan sculpted or have movie origins. Also gives you a rough idea of what body type they are good for!
-
How do I get ahold of ATA? What's the pricing?

I direly hope so! I think the design is made to have two separated eyes and not a single visor and a eyedistance such as this would ruin not only the looks but also be totally unpractical to wear.
My wife suggested maybe those are mere sensors and not lenses, so the operator sees his surroundings by incorporated displays, but from a costume point of view this would still be unpractical for the bearer. Also I doubt such big lenses were necessary at all with the display solution. Of course this is all mere speculation.
The guy updated his model, the eyes are closer but i still think they are the wrong shape
-----------------
Here's what i saw by brightening / sharpening the image, and how I think the eyes should be roughly shaped:
-
At first I quite liked the look of the new lid, but this new pic is not to my liking at all. The distance between the eyes seems to be much bigger than on the ANH lid. So you could only have a sideway glimpse of your surroundings. Also the face now has the look of a badger or Disney's Beagle Boys.
When looking at the "evolution" of helmets this one brings us back to the Phase I Clone trooper design, resembling a bucket with no eyecatching features only that its top is flatted out like the ANH. The RMQ had much more features and greeblies on it, so I do not see much of a resemblance.
if you are referring to the pic I posted it is fan made, pretty sure the eyes are wrong
-
Pfff, it'd be much cooler to have an original set of armour displayed next to the modern set ;-). I'm just hoping the new set is friendlier on the body haha.
