    Not with a ruler. I attached large shims to the kidney plate on either side then put the armor on and held it all together. Then I marked where the shims overlapped the ab plate and did score-snap to remove the excess. Maybe not the easiest way (I needed a helper), but that's how my mind works sometimes and it ended up working well for sizing.

    Do you have pictures of both shims in more detail? I see the one with the notch in question, but the other side is hard to see. Sorry for all the questions.

    Thanks for the compliment! I have seen that graphic floating around on FISD somewhere and just saved the picture months ago. I also saw it on one of the armor Facebook pages, WTF: Walt's Trooper Factory, I think. I just want to make sure its actually accurate before I make that cut!

    One more thing before bed. I know it's not required anymore, but I'd like to do the kidney notch. Does this look correct? Also, here's the guide I found for cutting it. Not going to cut until I know it's correct

    I did have a question, where did you find the guide/template for the plus sized armor shims? I tried locating it, but came up empty handed. I'm going to have to do the same to mine and want to see how to do it.

    Marvin did we add you to the Academy yet? or Epic? I am so behind. Also PM me your IP address and I'll see if Victor can fix your access. We had a big attack from Russia or something and lots of people had to be re-added manually, so it's probably just that.

    Hi! I think we've both been busy with lifein general :) I wastalking with Vince and Scott at ACG and I have been able to login and browse/post through my phone. As far as settings and groups I am not sure about that as I use TAPATALK since I can't use my laptop.

     

    As far as armor goes, I have reached out to Trooper Gear ad will be on their next run :) I'm one step closer! I'm excited and super anxious right now! I can't wait to get started. I've been doing some reading the last couple days so I'm prepping myself for the challenge!

    Sorry I am computer challenged lately so I have been slow to get on and greet new folks!

     

    LA! YAY! More min--I mean, uh, awesome shiny whites for Ingrid's Arm.... uh, I mean, the EMPIRE!!!

     

    It's kind of a long process -- mostly waiting -- to get that TK up and running, so meanwhile I think everyone has told you where to go to get to know your local shinies, online and off, and of course this is still and will always be the best place to get everything you need and learn all you need to know to build it!

Look forward to the experience, blood, sweat and tears :D  For some reason the Southern California Garrison site gives me an error when I use my laptop, but I can view it with no problem on my phone.

We currently have about 4 people in progress with their TK and despite LA being huge there's is always a trooper nearby to help out. We are also have an armor party going on soon on the 28th.

    I just recently "finished" my TK and got accepted into the 501st, It took me a long time to finish my TK but learned a lot from this experience. If you need any help I live in the whittier area surrounding la habra, la mirada, norwalk area. Send me a shout and ill gladly help you out the best I can. Once again welcome! can't wait to see your build :).

    Greetings Marvin, and welcome to the FISD!!!

     

    There are plenty of troopers out in SoCal. They're quite active here usually, too. I'm sure one or two of them will be along shortly to introduce themselves and drag you to the Garrison site.

    I keep getting a forbidden message on their site. I'm sure they'll point me in the right direction :) I took a few minutes to look at the location map and there are quite a few troopers near me! Thanks for the welcome!

    Hello everyone! So I decided to finally get an armor for my helmet and eventually join the 501st! I've done some volunteer work using my TK bucket and decided why not dive in 100%!

     

    There is soooo much information out there that I think i popped a blood vessel with all the information! I look interacting with many of you and having your guidance during my build :)

     

    Thanks inadvance for the great forum full of information and helpful members! Anyone else out here in my neck of the woods?
