  1. Some fitment photos.  I'm going to trim some of the return on the abs, it was cutting into my lower ribs - as well as the butt piece that goes under the crotch.  It was clipping me right in the back of my thigh and it did NOT feel nice :laugh1: .

You can see in these photos how the abs overlap the kidney - but the kidney is almost perfectly aligned with the butt plate.  This is where I need some advice on what part(s) to trim.

My black underarmor was dirty, so the white will have to do for now!

  2. Thank you for the input.  Good to know on the asymmetric nature.

I've had a couple people help me try it on and attempt to mark it... but it's been difficult to determine what I should be trimming once I put the belt on and tighten it to my body.

There is significant overlap on both sides when I get the belt tightened around me.  Far more on the left side where the rivets are supposed to go.  I *think* I should be cutting the ab plate, since the butt lines up so nicely with the kidney, but I'm just not certain.  I'll try to get photos tomorrow since we're snowpacalypsed here in Atlanta.

  3. I have a few questions and seeking advice on trimming and strapping the torso together.

First photo: the abs have a slight indentation.  My assumption is I should be trimming the abs instead of the kidneys.  The kidneys line up almost perfectly with the butt plate.

Second photo is top down of the kidneys (pulled the back underneath to show the return).  I'm thinking that I need to trim along the pencil lines.  Next photo shows closeup of proposed trim line - with no return along my ribs.  Thoughts?

These final photos show discrepancies of the length of the kidney on each side.  Should I make the sides of the kidneys match lengths?  Strangely, the butt lines up well with it, so if I trim one side down, I'll need to trim the butt, too:

    Thanks in advance!

  4. Screwed in the top two screws.  Have to really squeeze the bottom to get it this flush.

If I don't squeeze it, it looks like this:

Is it correct to squeeze it before drilling the bottom hole?  My concern would certainly be the screw digging into the ABS over time.  Or should it lay flat?

  5. Haha, yes, mirror pic.

Appreciate it, it's even the little guy's actual birthday today - suck!

Making some great progress there, paint job on the boots look awesome.

I've gotta ask, is your "selfie" pic flipped somehow, or are your sniper plate and ammo pack on the wrong legs??

Hope your son gets to feeling better.

  6. So my son got sick today and I had to come home to pick him up  :(  While sitting on conference calls, I ended up painting my Chelseas.

I opted for brush instead of the HVLP gun... because it's more accurate.  (By "it's more accurate" I mean it's too friggin cold to do anything outside, so I'll be damned if I'm breaking out the spray gun   )

Angelus Paint in white.  4oz is way more than I need for two boots, but 1oz wouldn't be enough.

First coat, very light.  Cut in the edges with a flat brush, rest with a round.

    Second coat.

Third coat.  Looks like these won't be dress shoes for work anymore.

Just finished one last coat on both boots.  I'll be letting them dry for about 5 hours.  Then I'll coat with the acrylic finisher with a rag.

Finally, I'll finish off the mesh with a fabric paint I picked up at Hobby Lobby.  Supposedly that will coat it far better than the Angelus (which just soaks right in).

  7. Some minor progress on my lid.  Still got some toofeses trimming to do.

Got my son's birthday party coming on Sunday, so I gotta take a break to finish up the Harry Potter stuff.  I've been making wands and scarves for the kids goody bags.

But I'll be back at it next week.  Still got a lot of work on this, but there is a a faint glow at the end of this tunnel.

  8. Torso strapped together, using Mr. No Stripes strapping kit.  Everything is trimmed except the sides of the abdomen and kidney - need to get a little assistance to get the measurements correct, so it'll have to wait until probably this weekend.

  9. After suiting up the legs and taking a terrible quality mirror selfie, I think my wife is wanting a costume of some sort... she sure had a lot of questions!

The torso is trimmed at the joining lines, but I'm trying to determine how much of a return edge I want on the chest and upper back pieces.  Any advice?
