  1. One of these days, I'm gonna need a TM ROTJ in black. I *really* want to do that new Battlefront Shadowtrooper.
  2. Just a quick progress shot on the helmet for those who haven't seen the separate thread. It's still far from done - the left ear still needs to be fitted, and weathering/fine detail will need to be added.
  3. Helmet masked off for spray paint. Toothpaste dabbed on for the paint chip effect (hard to see in the photo) Success! And a comparison to a CAP-W ANH helmet, just to show how radically different the TM ROTJ is in its shape. Using an ANH helmet for a Shock Trooper just isn't going to cut it for me, accuracy-wise - this makes me much happier than my MTK Shock. The left ear will be shaped and fitted on a different day. Weathering and fine details will be added later tonight after class. This bucket is far from done ~
  4. Imgur is just as easy to use if Photobucket doesn't work out. Just sign up, upload your images, and copy+paste the BBCode of the images in your forum post. Example:
  5. I've yet to find the correct ratio of acetone to ABS scrap to make a good enough paste, but that's just me. Silicone caulk is easy to work with and it does the job for me. I'm sure someone could make ABS paste work, but it would be much easier to just not cut the holes out to begin with
  6. The CRLs make no mention of it on the thighs, so it's up to you really. I've seen some troopers with, and some without.
  7. Incorrect, return edges are supposed to be there to give depth to the armor. Some places are supposed to have it, some aren't. The thighs should have some return edge, but I think you can get approved without them. My Death Trooper currently does not have them, and I plan to change that before my first troop.
  8. No need to worry. You can create a new return edge with a heat sealing iron. http://www.walmart.com/ip/37286757?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227025019252&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=52456884735&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=79534071975&veh=sem There's a few threads around here on this topic.
  9. It's a comfort issue. Some folks are going to want those holes cut out for ventilation, so I think it's fair to give them that option. People who change their mind and want to upgrade to Centurion can do so easily without buying a replacement helmet. All you have to do is glue some sign plastic behind the holes, fill them in with silicone caulk, and paint over it in black once it's dry. That MTK helmet in my first post has silicone in its frown. Sent from my SCH-R530U using Tapatalk
  10. Also, I will NOT be cutting the teeth out. The Battlefront troopers don't have them cut out, and it will likely be a Centurion requirement once the CRL is live.
  11. Got a lot done with this after work tonight. The left ear has been giving me some grief, so that's not on there yet. The neck trim slides on like a dream, but I won't be fitting that on again until after the left ear is glued. The grey paint is drying on the right ear - after that's dry I'll be doing the rank bars and outline with the black Testors paint marker. Does everything look right so far? Is it acceptable for a little bit of hot glue to be showing? Assembled with screws and nuts instead of rivets. I'll have to cut the size of these screws down a bit. TM lenses are held in with some scotch tape for now, just to get an idea of what they look like in the helmet
  12. I'll be documenting my TM helmet build in a separate thread. Feel free to follow along. The final result will be posted here! http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35656-tm-rotj-helmet-build-15mm/
  13. Got a bunch of stuff in the mail for my ROTJ-based Shock Trooper. In this thread, I'll be documenting the build of my Troopermaster ROTJ helmet kit. I've built a couple ANH helmets, and after looking this kit over, it seems like it'll go together much the same way. Only major difference being that the ear caps are glued instead of screwed. Rubber trim and TK-4510 ROTJ decals Pre-assembled mic tips. I'm relieved I don't have to cut and install the mesh myself. Bubble lenses. Top set is TM, bottom is AM 2.0. I'm leaning towards the AM lenses for this helmet because I like the shape of them a bit more. But we'll see what each set looks like in the lid once I cut out the eye holes. I have Testors #1138 for the ears, and a Testors gloss black enamel paint marker for the frown and vocoder. Rivets are supplied with the kit, but I'll probably use screws and nuts instead, as I prefer a less permanent method of assembly. Let me know if there's anything in particular I'll be needing that I don't already have. The end goal will be a helmet that will be worn as part of the first 501st approved Imperial Shock Trooper costume. As pretty as this shiny white plastic is to look at, it's gonna need to be scuffed up a little and take some red spray paint and some black+brown acrylic wash. I will never be seen wearing a clean white TK Hoping to achieve a result that looks like my MTK Shock Trooper helmet, which is now in someone else's hands.
  14. Troopermaster ROTJ stuff, all laid out. Helmet kit, kidney/butt, belt, and in the bag: ROTJ decals, neck and brow trim, assembly hardware, bubble lenses and (I think) mic tips Friggin' sweet. 20160213_130040
  15. Came home for my lunch break and found a lovely FedEx slip on my door. ... NOOOOO
  16. I got my PVC U-trim from GreatLakesSkipper.com. ---------- Cover strips appear to be acceptable for EIB, so you're good there. Remember to glue your ab button panel upside down, like the ROTJ armor. I assembled ATA, CAP-W, and MonCal armor pieces with overlaps no problem, but I haven't seen an Anovos kit in person so I can't speak for that.
  17. My Troopermaster ROTJ helmet kit, kidney/butt, and belt fabric are FINALLY in the United States. No progress to show tonight, just coming here to vent my excitement. I just might have a finished level 1-approvable Shock Trooper by the end of the month. Just need to order a new neckseal from Darman. I've decided the backpack and weapon will happen a bit later on, maybe this summer.
  18. It should be an easy fix - I've seen it done well by plenty of people here. Not worth losing any sleep over I was never able to figure out the correct ABS to acetone ratio to make a good paste myself (otherwise I wouldn't have had to take the Death Trooper route), but you could definitely take Joseph up on his offer to help you out. Good luck with the rest of your build man.
  19. Good start, but I'm not sure if it's okay to have 10 teeth cut out. I just looked at the ANH Stunt CRL and it calls for only 8 cut out. You could definitely fix that with some ABS paste if it's a roadblock to getting approved. http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt
  20. I'm using PVC u-trim from Greatlakesskipper. http://greatlakesskipper.com/four-winns-033-0890-white-3-16-inch-channel-pvc-boat-edge-trim-u-molding-10-ft Here's what it looks like on my CAP-W chest armor. But since you're in the UK, you should contact Troopermaster here on the forum and order from him.
  21. There isn't a whole lot you will have to do to modify your ANH kit to make it passable. If you can fuse your kidney and butt plates together, you'll be golden. The rest is easy - just glue the ab button panel upside down, build with overlaps, and make sure you're gluing your ear covers on instead of using screws. I will be subscribed and watching as soon as your thread goes up!
  22. Thanks for the comments everyone! Despite how short the event was, it was well worth the drive to and back. Looking forward to my next outing with the white armor of NEG!
  23. Yesterday, we welcomed Wish Kid Nolan at the Portland International Jetport from his Jedi training at Disney World. We had three TKs, an Obi-Wan, and a Mando Merc in attendance, plus myself and one of our TK's sons as wranglers/photographers. Nolan got to show off his newly acquired Jedi talents to our costumers. We presented gift bags full of Star Wars toys to Nolan and his little brother. Smiles and laughs were had all around and it was a good, short event. The Make-A-Wish staff helped make things very easy for us, and things couldn't have gone more smoothly. This was the first time I got to see an event like this first hand, and I couldn't have wiped the grin off my face if I tried. The overall reactions of everyone looking on, especially the two younglings, is what makes me so excited to be part of this group! Now I just need to finish my non-Death Trooper costume, and I can suit up myself for events like this
  24. You might have better luck posting this question on the RPF or bikerscout.net. Good luck!
