  1. Fellow TKs,

I'm the trooper in the video and it's been an entertaining few days since being informed about the video.  The event was at the end of the Course of the Force Relay in downtown San Diego.  There were spotters and security at the event.  The three guys ran across the street like tons of others when they saw us and were lining up to take a pic.  Totally looked legit and there were soft costumers close by.  I felt something at my back leg then a hard shove on the chest plate.  My chest plate pushed my bucket up out of eye line so I couldn't see.  I was able to catch myself thank goodness and when I stood up they were gone.  I was very upset for about twenty minutes but figured I couldn't ID them and we still had an event to do.  I had others check over my armor and I was relieved that there was no damage.

On Sunday, one of my fellow Garrison members sent me a msg about the video.  Then I wanted to press charges thanks to the evidence these guys plastered on the net.  The entire legion has been very supportive in finding tweets and names of those involved.  The video was removed shortly after it went viral but several members were able to save it including my son.  I have filed a courtesy report with my local law enforcement because I'm 3 1/2 hours from San Diego.  It will be faxed to SDPD and a detective there is waiting for it to move forward.

Thank you again for all of your concern and support.  Could have been a heck of a lot worse, but the two of them couldn't bring this trooper down!\

You have a pretty level head, my man! I haven't seen it but I can only imagine. I still say it's a lack of discipline these days. lol I'm 34, I remember when there was paddling still in school! :)

  2. *sigh* Drama, drama, drama. I won't complain about it because I know it's realistically unavoidable but I will say I would like to know if there is any concern on the staff's part about this. Whether Karin is too nice to make a formal complaint or not her wanting to leave the community should be a red flag that there is an issue that deserves attention of the people who allow membership. That being said on the other hand I know that not everyone is going to like what is said to them on here and sure some will leave but I'd like to believe that if a member such as Karin is leaving then this is something more than just an issue of being thin skinned.

Hopefully we can discuss this in a civil manner without direct finger pointing because obviously there are people who are concerned.

  3. Hey everyone! I would love to find a kind soul from the US that is going to Celebration Europe who would be willing to pick up a couple pieces of exclusive merchandise for me while you are there. :) I am a huge collector of Funko's line of Star Wars POP! vinyl figures and they put out show exclusive figures for the big events and this year for Celebration Europe that are doing a Boba Fett variant from his appearance on the Droids cartoon.

I might also ask for a tshirt as well but that can be discussed. lol I would of course be willing to pay a couple extra bucks for the trouble if you wanted?

  4. Call me obsessed, ambitious or psychotic, but I hate to do things wrong. So I know I would have lost sleep if I had not corrected the returned edges I accidentally left on the front of the forearms. Fix was easy using some sandpaper, circular motions and a dremel sanding bit to get those hard to reach areas.

To get an even edge I tried to work with gravity and essentially use my work table as a sanding block. I used slow circular motions to remove the return edge by putting gentle pressure downward at first and then increasing pressure as needed. I used fine grit sandpaper (sorry I don't know the #) so I wouldn't take off too much. Thankfully I lined things up pretty good initially, so I got what I think is a nice clean edge with no return.

Looks great! It had to have helped with the scraping of the hands as well, right? :D

  5. Sorry about the blurry pics, but the originals I took are no different.  I'll get to work on the return edges since I do want to go for Centurion eventually when I am done.  I will certainly post the correction once I make the correction.  It is my first build, so forgive me all, I hope I didn't mislead anyone.  I love the feedback!  Thanks guys!

Misleading? How so? Noooooooo my post was only meant to lend a hand on how I cut down on scraping our hands while also pointing out the benefit of trimming the return edge to get a jump on Centurion. :duim:  We are all learning here, sir! This is my first build as well! You have some fantastic looking progress and I'll be referencing your thread when I move further on my armor!

  6. Looks like you just used the trim job Rob did, which has a slight return edge. I literally could not get my hands in and out without trimming mine back, so yeah it will be more comfortable.

Fitting my forearms was hilarious. I would tape them on to a proper fit not leaving gap on the upper forearm and then just laugh thinking to myself, "How in the **** am I supposed to get my hands in and out??" Then I remembered the Centurion level calling to trim the return edge and well, that was actually my first big cutting job EVER on a kit. That kind of took the edge off the nerves. Xacto knife, sanding block and dremel sanding drum.

  7. Thanks for the feedback Tony and Sean.  I was under the impression that I didn't have any return edge on my forearms and Rob had said he would take care of that upon trimming my kit.  It is always easier to trim back then add, but before I start breaking out the sanding block (I'm sure I can slowly sandy it down even though it is complete)  I'll post a picture of both forearms to get more opinions.  Strangely I only scrape my left hand getting it out of the forearm.

If you compare the "front end" (the part of the forearm piece that touches your wrist) pieces in your photos and mine you will see a slight "lip" on yours, that's what a return edge is and what scrapes you.

  8. Honestly? lol I have only completed my forearms and next I will be working on my biceps. I posted a tip on JMM7375's thread about the issue with scraping hands when fitting the forearms, whether you're going Centurion or not I found it best to trim and sand the return edge down. Here is what mine looks like:

  9. Ask and you shall receive...Here is a pic of the inner shim I used for the forearm.  Basically the small piece that I cut off of the overlap was used after trimming the ends.  May not look pretty, but it works.  I included a bicep shot too.  These were larger shims since I trimmed more bicep to fit my body.

Hey there! I wanted to jump in and actually lend a hand here. I don't know if you are going Centurion or not but one thing that will help IMMENSELY with the scraping of the hand is removing the return edge on the front of the forearm like it calls for in the CRL. Once I did that and sanded it down it was amazing the difference.  :smiley-sw013:  Here are pictures:

Now, I did this with an Xacto knife and a sanding block BEFORE they were assembled but with some careful work I'm sure you can still make it happen.

  10. For a new person hitting Centurion isn't much more than EI. However the reason I created EI was more as a guide and encouragement for existing members to upgrade their suits, and to set a bar that new people would hit out of the gate, thus creating for new people a higher bar than base.

33% of MEPD is deployed. Only what - 15% of FISD is EI? When we have 800 EIB then yeah perhaps it's time to increase the standards, but until then it's pretty silly really. Yes, there are places like the UKG and perhaps Nordic which do better than average, but that's not helping the other 500 TK's worldwide get to EI.

I always interpreted EIB as just that, a way to encourage old suits of armor to be upgraded to keep up with the improved versions. I'm still expanding my knowledge of the various makers but I know my RT came pretty much EIB ready. It just doesn't make sense for me not to go Centurion. Lol I would be only the second to have Centurion in my Garrison though which really blows me away.
