  1. You need a steady hand with the cutting disk or drum sander For getting straight edges I use blocks of wood with sandpaper stapled to them, some are straight, some with a curve.
  2. Congratulations trooper and welcome to the ranks, that extra work was worthwhile, looking forward to seeing you at EIB, good luck.
  3. Having some pictures of what you are talking about would help. For all my trimming I use a rotary cutting tool, has swappable heads, I use a fine cutting disk and drum sandpaper roller.
  4. Velcro may work but the issue is your kidney/butt is angled in (as is your back plate) and you have a triangle gap on the sides, these really needs to be straightened. You could put some padding behind the kidney plate, that would push it backwards but the downside is it would make a larger opening at the sides. I'd probably stick with Velcro on the belt and then see what the DO's say about your side gaps.
  5. Forgot to mention earlier that I have had dye from an Aker amp mic bleed on to boots, wouldn't come out and had to use a boot whitener, glad they where an old pair I was going to use for a Sandy.
  6. Nice work on the helmet, just watch the pain on the teeth, from the CRL: Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area You may just want to remove any excess paint from the gums, this can be easily done with toothpicks
  7. Your belt is a little high at the back, also take not of the gap in the sides, it's quite big at the bottom, you may want to even this out so the sides match.
  8. Hello once again and welcome to the legion. In regards to images on armor the only garrison which is allowed to do so is the UKG, if you aspire to higher level approval EIB or Centurion you will have to remove those stickers. Welcome again to the ranks.
  9. Great work, very similar to what I do but I stop the extra plastic before the backplate so it's not seen on the rear. Thanks for the share, another great tip for addition to the longevity of armor
  10. I'm not going to go through all your links, basically you only have to generally resemble the CRL, does not need to be exact so you can use on areas not seen on the CRL It's mainly the look after you have finished weathering it which will probably be more crucial
  11. Looks good to me, but for piece of mind and a definitive answer for higher level approval I suggest perhaps PM'ing the DO's: Joseph @justjoseph63 Daniel @TheSwede Sha Sha @shashachu Mike @msouza
  12. Actually from painting plastic for props I find industrial enamel the best, has a little more flex and it's a little thicker. I've tried acrylic but it cracks easily as does cheap enamel paint.
  13. Nice work there, just a couple of things. Just watch bunching with your undersuit, there a bulge coming out on your right side chest to arm gap. Your boots look very grey compared to the armor, did you paint/dye yourself, if so I'd suggest going over with another coat. Thigh cover strips should not go all the way to the bottom, should stop above the lower ridge, same on the back, stop above the lower ridge. With the shins the coverstrips go all the way up on the shin fronts, but on the back they should stop below the top ridge. Did you need the extra size on your cover strips for room? If not they are a little big. You may want to try bringing up your ab plate a little more, would give you a bit more room at the top of the thighs, make it easier to move about. You trimmed the AB plate buttons a little too far, not sure if your GML will pick up on that. Holster looks very wrinkly, I would perhaps look for a stiffer one, again it's up to your GML. Drop boxes should align with the end of the plastic belt, a dab of E6000 can stop them moving You could take a little more out of the corners of the teeth I would try to clean up some of your tube stripes, tooth picks are great for getting rid of any excess, also ideally the correct fall is Back ////////// Front, but again not an issue for basic approval If you want to make your black stripes a little straighter you can go over them with a permanent black marker You could also get rid of the extra fabric on the belt, they also normally go right side over left but not a biggy for base approval Belt could come up a bit but again not a base requirement. All in all nice work and good luck with approval.
  14. Can tale up to a week or two, please standby the DO's will be here in due course
  15. I found ATA are on the smaller side compared to others. You could purchase shoulder bells from another maker but the problem there is that the colors may not match. From memory RS have some pretty big shoulder bells but I'm not sure about there color match to SDS. Have a look through some of the build threads, will give you an idea of different armor pieces sizing. Also looking through your pre approval thread the bells look like they could come in more by bringing the shoulder bell strap further forward on your shoulder strapping, it that makes sense. Something like this, closer to the front so they want to pull inwards.
  16. Hello and welcome aboard, for scout trooper head over to the Pathfinder Detachment here http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php
  17. You will find that the crack will be covered mostly with the ears. You can have any cracks/pieces missing and exposed prosthetics behind, you don't have to follow the CRL image they are there as a guide, just don't go overboard, a nice tips thread here https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/16595-death-trooper-tips/ One thing to also bare in mind is: This particular costume may not be welcome at all 501st events. This is not recommended as a primary Legion membership costume, for which events you would have to contact your GCO and GML. Looking at your images some of the details are quite soft and pieces that should be separate are molded to the armor, personally I would go for a Death Trooper build but entirely up to you.
  18. Same as Andrew, suitcase and helmet bag, works well.
  19. If you could sit at all after wearing a rocket pack and burning your a very impolite person
  20. I've also seen the interior images and it is definitely different to the standard line, but that may be because the are asking over $6000 for the whole package
  21. Hi and welcome aboard, unfortunate that you discovered the forum too late but it does happen. If it were me I'd probably look at a death trooper build, but having some photos of your kit would definitely help us help you. Post up some images, a lot of us use Imgur a free photo host, once upload you can copy the image links directly into your post. Make sure you check the CRL's (costume reference library) for base requirements of a TK death trooper https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_deathtrooper Looking forward to seeing some images, good luck what ever you decide.
  22. Congratulations trooper and welcome to the ranks, it was worth the extra effort. Hope to see you at EIB in the not too distant future
  23. You can request 501st/Stormtrooper access here Appears your shoulder bells have a big gap between them and the shoulder straps, the elastic is being pulled outwards, perhaps tighten the shoulder strap elastic, doubled over can help, then see if this reduces the gap at the top.
