Here's a thought( more an academic query as it's not gonna affect anything anyways)...putting aside the real world reasons for the different knee,ab, etc...were Sandies originally intended to just be Stormies with mission specific gear? IE..not specialised environment troopers like Snowies. I know the toys came up with the name Sandtrooper and the old EU made up stuff about specislised armour with built in cooling systems etc..but my head canon slways maintained Sandies are just Regular TKs who are stationed on a butthole planet with specisl gear..not a specialised trooper at all. Just to confuse matters further..the Kyber Pack trooper is also seen( albeit fleetingly) on the asteroid trading outpost at the start of the movie...so even though pack,pauldron and a non clean appearence are great indications of classing them as Sandies....does the fact they are deployed on non desert worlds or environments not dismiss them as such? Without wishing to ruffle feathers...MEPD(of which I am also a member) isn't exactly keen on housing the Spec Edition Sandie( for the uninitiated..its a repurposed ROTJ TK). If the Sandie det( or a significant portion of its membership) doesn't even want a bonafide actual Sandie variation...why do they want the R1 versions?! Sent from my R4 unit using Tapatalk

Personally speaking..I wouldn't. I troop as a hobby. As soon as cash enters the equation..it becomes a job. And I don't wanna think of trooping as work. It'd change the dynamic too much for me..don't think I'd enjoy it as much. Sent from my R4 unit using Tapatalk

If it isn't visible..but still gets results you can use whatever you want really. I used velcro on my Sandie belt and haven't had an issue yet..even with a couple ammo pouches hung from it. Dunno if it'd be strong enough to hold up a holstered E-11 though... Sent from my R4 unit using Tapatalk

Re: the no holster and/or Thermal det issue. While I agree their exclusion are most likely the result of the stunt guys not wanting to huirt themselves, the same can be said of the Sandies who are packless in the Docking Bay scene in ANH. And we still allow packless Sandies. IMO,..if it's seen on screen,it should be considered as a clearable option.

Not to mention...I think once the initial buzz around the film dies down..these guys won't be half as "in fashion" as they are now. I can't see them being a big enough deal to need their own det. Sent from my R4 unit using Tapatalk

As a ROTJ TK..(and owner of one of Marks suits for the last 5 years)..I wholeheartenly agree. Yeah..the ROTJ is the "runt" of the litter...the "least desirable" to some..but thats still no excuse for the CRL to be so...wrong. Ot's a totally valid cossie..yet seems to be treated a bit like a second class citizen. I don't have a holster. Cleared ok like that..but I was told I need the TD. Its a little thing..but I'd habe preferred none, if only to make the ROTJ stand out a little more from my ANH brethren. The CRL model isn't even a ROTJ kit for griefs sake..it's a modified ANH. Iirc..Anovos recommended the rustoleum to match the fiberglass lid. I ended up having to spray my abs lid after i got it because I had mayched my armour to the premium lid. Its not a huge difference..but was enough to annoy me.. Sent from my R4 unit using Tapatalk

To be fair though..isn't it more accurate to "mishandle" an E-11 than to act as though it really is a heavy functional weapon? The extras in the movies didn't always "do it right"...plenty of instances of poor trigger disipline, one handed firing etc..etc.... Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

I was actually thinking about this cossie for my partner. She is too short for standard TK gear( she is currently approved in both Legions as a Jawa and Ewok!)..so its good to hear a CRL is in the works. Just curious why it's gonna go to IOC? Yeah..was gonna ask that myself. Being that Ireland has been linked to this kit..we have had a few members and new recruits of the IG inquiring about this. I am lucky in that I have virtually no neck! Which means I can get away without one on my ROTJ.I wear a 'clava with my TI or IG so don't find it uncomfortable. Might start using onebwith the FO because of the way it rides up at the back.

If the differences are driving folks so crazy,..it's actually quite easy to 'head canon' the discrepancies away using in universe logic.. Just think of the RO armour as the standard,base TK,..say the Phase 1 TK. The guys we see in ANH,seeing as they are all based on the Deathstar(or are Vaders personal troopers on the Tantive) are rocking the brand new and improved Phase2, straight off the asssembly line.(We could say the Hero lid is an upgrade,Phase 2.1) Following this train of thought, ESB guys are rocking Phase 2.5, ROTJ Phase 3. Course,..that all falls apart when you take into consideration the ROTJ guys in ANH SE Deathstar scenes... OR,..using real world logic,..just accept that 95% of the audience will not notice anything different and at the end of the day,..it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. What actually bothers me more,is these new trooper varients we are seeing,..all of which conveniently were just off screen during the OT-the scarab trooper,deathtrooper,..whatever Felicity Jones is disguised as...

I don't mind the new look troopers. In fact,as a ROTJ TK,..I'm happy that we are no longer gonna be the 'Ugly Ducklings' of the Imperial Forces!

Didn't happen to me..but two of my garrison mates, on seperate occasions got shot in the eye during Blast a Trooper. Both wear RS..so the Nerf dart went straight through the flimsy lense material and struck them in the face!
