  1. Hi Mike and welcome to the FISD! I was just visiting Bar Harbor and Ogunquit this past week. Beautiful up there along the coast. There are many helpful members around here with a bunch of knowledge on Phasma. Enjoy the build!
  2. JR's post is perfect. It hits the nail on the head. The only thing I may add is that this bit of information has been lost as the last 5 years or so have gone on. People don't think about it. I don't know why. We don't want to put too much info out there about armor because we do have to keep in mind that copyright infringement still does exist. Again, it seems like that more people worried about that 5 or so years ago then currently. But our armor makers do put their neck out there because they could potentially feel the wrath of the mouse if they ever really wanted to. Research is key.
  3. Hi Rose and welcome to the FISD! Glen has given you most of the information you need. Take some time to research those build threads and then make sure you check out the getting started sections.
  4. Well thanks for making this a lot easier on me!
  5. Hi Matt and welcome to the FISD! Congratulations on your purchase! This is going to be an amazing time ahead of you. There is nothing like building a set of armor. Just take it slow and measure twice cut once. Have fun!
  6. Hi Alexander and welcome to the FISD! Congratulations on your approval and welcome to the 501st legion! Enjoy your time.
  7. Congratulations Natalie! Welcome to the 501st Legion and the FISD! Check out this thread and post your details so you can become an complete FISD member: Have fun trooping!
  8. Hello and welcome to the FISD! This will be an exciting time for you. Building a set of armor is an amazing time. Like Dan said you should reach out to the Japanese Garrison. Someone there may also be able to give you some hands on assistance. Also, please check out our Getting Started threads. Have fun!
  9. Well if you were given a new set of MTK armor then the armor itself is just fine. Now it will come down to how you build it and how the final product looks. The best thing I can tell you is to look through some of the build threads. Study some of them. Then you should start your own. Also, there are some build Videos on trooperbay.com you can look at. Also some videos on YouTube with our friend CableGuy.
  10. Hi Chris and welcome to the FISD! I will tell you that research is key here. The more you read then the more you learn. I will tell you with your measurements you should be looking hard at AM armor. You can contact Dave's Darkside Depot on facebook. If you don't have facebook then you can PM Dave here on the forums under the name Triple D. He is an awesome guy. AM Armor is geared more towards the heavier trooper. The set of armor gives you plenty of extra added plastic in the areas that you may need most. Most sets of armor will fit anywhere between 34-36 inch waist but AM fits a much larger waist size. If you have any other questions then don't be afraid to ask.
  11. Hi Robin and welcome to the FISD! Check out the getting started section. There you will find all of the information you need to begin your journey.
  12. I agree with Paul. I donā€™t see any reason why someone who is not an approved member couldnā€™t submit a design for the context. The only thing that would be a bummer if that person did win would be that they couldnā€™t purchase their coin. However, there would be no reason why that person couldnā€™t be gifted one for their efforts.
  13. Eric - Does your cutout design feature what I guess you could call a monetary edge like the first design? Or is it a solid edge?
  14. Hi CJ and welcome to the FISD! Good luck with your build. Enjoy it!
  15. As Mark has said Nick, Jedi Robe should be a no go. They are recasters and their sets are very inaccurate which would require a ton of work to gain 501st approval. You would be spending a lot of money and time on a Jedi Robe. Out of the suits you have mentioned RS Props would be the best option. Or check out the vetted armor list and contact a few of the vendors. Some of them offer built suits as well. They just don't have the websites that you are looking at so far.
  16. I am loving the back of this coin. Did he hear me say in staff area that I think we should put tube stripes somewhere on the coin? Pretty much looks like there are on the sides lol. Very nice job.
  17. Greg thank you for jumping in on the competition right away and showing us your amazing ideas. There are some other great ideas that have been suggested so far. However, instead of attempting to change Greg's design how about taking some of the ideas mentioned and submitting new designs? I'm sure Greg could play around with his designs if he so chooses based upon recommendations but for the purposes of a competition it would be nice to see other submitted designs as well.
  18. Hi Rob and welcome to the FISD! Where in NY are you located? What are your plans?
  19. Well it just so happens that I guess I would be his "armorer" LOL. There is certainly no better place then here! And yes unfortunately we haven't had any in person armor parties in a few years.
  20. Hi Cory welcome to the FISD. So I am Steve and I just commented on your post over on the Empire City Garrison forum. I'm glad you found it here. Everyone here will be extremely helpful with your build.
  21. Hi DJ and welcome to the FISD! Congrats on your purchase. As you said I have numerous 501st approved costumes currently and my TK is my go to and what I feel most comfortable in. You will love it! Also, don't forget to request 501st status here: Good Luck!
