About Me

I am honorably discharged from the US Marines. I have worked in nuclear power since 1983 specializing in health physics, which deal with ionizing radiation and the effects it has on the human body. I spend much of my work time maximizing worker and public safety, and calculation of radiation exposure to workers.

I have been a 501st Member since 2009. My son Alex, 12 at the time wanted me to join the 501st Legion. I told him that I would need his assistance in getting the application filled out, locate a source for the customer, and that I was all in. He wanted to troop together. One day while at work Alex called me at work to tell me my application had been accepted and that he found someone that would help me put my first costume together. He continued to tell me that it was only 1695 and everything was included and I didn't need to worry about a thing, because the individual had a credit card application on their website and he had filled that out too. He went on to tell me that the credit card was approved. I was with a group of co-workers at the time, and told I was looking forward to hearing all about that evening when I got off work. The group I was with started back on our discussion, and suddenly I remember saying to myself, did he say 1695?

I got home that night and asked him to tell me all that happened and in more detail, and I was really interested in the credit card. He explained in detail all the details. I asked where did you get the information for filling out a credit card application, and he told me off my tax return! I remember telling him to never do that again, as you have to be careful exactly who you give sensitive details like contained on a credit card application, as if those details get into the wrong hands it can cause get harm. He understood and we came to an agreement. I remember finishing up with: son you just proved to me today that you can accomplish anything you want to do. That means you are capable of bringing home straight As!

That $1695 was money well spent! He brought home reports with mostly A's. Additionally, we created many memories of trooping together!  Weird Al, Star Wars in Concert, Celebration V, etc.  He is 19 now and attending UTK. I now am bugging him to join the 501st, so we can continue trooping!
