  1. I was just using that as an example of how your helmet vents can be centurion approved.
  2. Yes, there is still lots of tweaking going on. Have no fear, Lucas is here!
  3. No problem. They last a long time. I've had mine for well over a year with plenty of trooping added to that, and even some casual wear too. Only recently has the glue for a heel started to come undone, but that's an easy $2 fix.
  4. Same reason that original strapping system is not required. If it looks the part, it's fine with me.
  5. Got any specifications on those capacitors? Maybe the K stands for something. Like what kind of electrolyte is used inside or something. Might make it easier finding the right kind of capacitor.
  6. Great application! I would suggest though looking over the side strapping a little bit to even out the amount of gap between ab and kidney. Looking at picture 2 & 3 there's a clear difference in gap width. You are pretty much centurion ready, but I'd recommend trying to adjust that before applying for centurion. For EI however, it could not be easier to approve you!
  7. Yes, it's still a countersunk flat head screw, in brass. So the overall appearance is indeed not in question. I'm just adding additional info on the matter for everyone's benefit.
  8. Well, according to RS their original helmet has some old brass screws of some imperial measure. Hard to find these days. M3 is probably the closest match that is easy to find off the shelf.
  9. I hope that you like the modifications you've made - Because I sure like 'em. I agree with Sven that you would benefit from lowering your biceps a little bit, but that's not stopping me from approving you. Just an idea! Welcome to the Centurions, Steve! You make your Garrison proud! Edit: Looks like the forum upgrade temporarily makes me unable to pin a medal to your chest, but it'll come!
  10. Have you checked ebay? And if you can, get them in brass.
  11. Awesome stuff John!
  12. Nice! You sound well prepared, and if you even use half the talent I've seen on your hasbro frankenstein conversion then this is going to be awesome. Don't worry too much, TM is quite easy to build contrary to popular belief. The parts to together like a dream!
  13. Sell it as spares. People are always asking for spare parts to their FX.
  14. It's one of these http://www.imperialsurplus.com/helmets.html
  15. I should be fixed by now. It was intentionally turned off before. I have it now though. Try logging in and out and refresh the page.
  16. Now that you have your membership confirmed I can safely say that that this is no doubt approved! I do highly suggest you attach a strap across your shoulder bells to keep them snug against your bicep if you haven't already. Pictures are inconclusive. If this was a centurion request I'd ask you to raise you drop boxes a little, and fix the knee belt curve, as well as maybe take some more (flashing) off the top and bottom of it as well as the ab belt. But since this is not I leave that entirely up to you. Good job trooper. This is a great looking armor and only by nit-picking could I ever say anything but wow! Head down to the hangar bay, we have captured a blockade runner we need searched.
  17. Most impressive!
  18. Yes, CABoots are good for EIB. If you already have a pair you can use those, but I wouldn't bother paying for a new pair.
  19. Yes, ObiHahn pretty much sums it up for me. I would like to see the vent slots you have cut out be painted black on the inside edges, and add some back screen behind them so they stand out a bit less. Same thing with the forearms. Not much left to remove there, just a liittle more and you are there! As for the counter, I agree that it sits a bit too high. It reminds me of a doopydoo hasbro conversion and how the hengstler sits on those. All in all however, you have a very nice armour and with these minor fixes I'll gladly approve you.
  20. Much better! I think, if you want to you could cut away one "wall" of the brow trim, that normally goes behind the forehead for your casted brow-line. (if you look at it from the top you see the brow is doubled up) Here's a rough illustration of where I think the eyes could be trimmed out a little more. Of course, it's important to go slowly and look at it regularly from a distance to see how it's progressing, whilst you're trimming. I am however approving you for EIB. Your armor is up to spec and looking great, and your helmet is within acceptable levels, and I think you'll make it even better in no time at all. Good job trooper!
  21. I have no fans in my helmet. As long as I'm able to move around and not just stand still that's no problem for me. Not having hot glued my lenses in it leaves a small crack around the eyes that hot air ventilates from. If you haven't don this I highly recommend it. Nobody sees it's not air-tight around your eyes, and the original helmets were not either. If you wear rubber gloves you "have to" wear inner cotton/lycra gloves. It makes everything so much better. It's better than nomex gloves for me. DO IT!
  22. Yeah, that brow trim is upside down. I cannot approve that. Sorry. While we're at it, I would recommend trimming the eyes out some more on your new helmet. It looks more confused than menacing right now. Unless that is the look you're going for. You're doing good work though. Keep it up!
