  1. It depends on how much you're using, but it is a solvent and it does soften up ABS. Try it on some scraps if you're curious. It's how we make ABS paste for repairs.
  2. You can pry apart pieces with a knife if it's CA glue, but you must go slowly and carefully.
  3. There used to be this until photobucket lost their mind. Maybe you can ask him about it?
  4. Yes you can. And don't worry too much about the colour. The ANH suits weren't matching either.
  5. It's mostly about personal preference. Both are really nice. If you don't like the "warts 'n all" (which comes from being cast from an original suit that had the same "issues") look of RS, go with TM.
  6. It's hard to be specific in your case, but make it look nice. Worry less about specific numbers.
  7. Yes. Or slightly wider still if you need to. Normally you'd make the rear thigh 20 mm, and the rear shin 25 mm. The extra width here helps hiding the shin closure system (velcro or hooks).
  8. On it.
  9. I think a mid-tier server at digital ocean would work fine enough. They cost $20 per month.
  10. FISD, SLD, IOC, BHG and MEPD are all served from the same server.
  11. We've had a host of issues lately. The server load has been insanely high at times, and been very taxing on the database. It might come to the point where we have to move FISD hosting to a dedicated server (right now several detachments share the same VPS).
  12. GF, he sculpted the original FX kit, and later on sold TE derivatives in a deal he made with TE back in the day. One of the first guys to sell TK kits. He went on to sell his moulds to AP I think. He was also as far as I know the only maker to get a cease and desist order from LFL.
  13. I'm all for blaster accuracy, but I'm opposed to a new set of CRL's and awards. Blaster accuracy is inherent in EIB and Centurion. And for those that value accuracy and have the means to go above and beyond, they will do so regardless of any awards. Let those who know appreciate it for themselves. My personal trooping E-11 is all metal, a mix of aluminium and steel with a (un-)folding stock, moving trigger, safety selector, charging handle, etc, and disassembles like the real deal. I don't need an award for that. I know it's a good blaster, and so does everyone who sees it.
  14. In that case you might as well require the ear screws to be brass painted white if you're going to require RD screws to be anodised black. But I feel that's going overboard.
  15. At the end of the day, approval for 501st membership comes down to the GML, who more often than not are not members of FISD and they judge costumes by their own heart and the CRL. The CRL tries to be balanced between accurate and uniform across the whole club. That also goes for the higher levels, although those emphasise accuracy, uniformity is still key. That being said, sometimes our members here do go a bit overboard with what they think should be "required". I think a lot of us are guilty of that, myself included. The key think to remember is that most of us have no real influence on who's approved and not. Personally I don't have any issue at all about the amount of teeth cut out of a helmet as long as it's done for the right reasons, like having studied real helmets and choosing to emulate a specific one due to personal preference.
  16. Hello everyone! We on staff have decided to require the corners of the TK knee belt on applicable variations of the costume to be squared on the top, and rounded on the bottom corner, as most of us have already taken for granted, since it's quite obvious from looking at screen captures. So we hope that this change is a non-issue for most of you, and an easy fix for anyone who've missed it. Our gallery highlighting this detail is over 5 years old by now, so we think it's about time to put it to print. BR Locitus, the command staff, and the DO's
  17. TM has some XL shins for the taller troopers. Should be enough for you if you're "only" 190 cm.
  18. Good to know!
  19. We may have lost the tapatalk API key setting during some upgrade, but it's back in place now. Hopefully your notifications come back now.
  20. Did you turn them off? For what it's worth, tapatalk is not something we spend a lot of time supporting, because this forum is intended primarily to be used with a browser. Tapatalk is more on a convenience we provide because people kept asking for it.
  21. Not reading previous posts on the subject before posting. Facepalm.
