  1. You gave two choices: replacement or if the ears sits a little high, you could drop it and re mount it. The holes will be hidden under the ear
  2. If you are indeed going to try to pinstripe the outline, paint the grey first. That contrast between the gray and the white is a good line for the eye to follow
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0CblUa6FO4 this is not the whole clip. Very poor quality. It is from Disney's A.N.T. farm
  4. Sometimesit is about the brush you use and not the steady hand( though a steady hand does make it easier) Anyway, if you find a brush with 3/4 to1 inch bristles this will help you maintain that pinstripe effect. Practice following a line on scrap abs. With longer bristles, they tend to stay in formation better even if your hand pressure wavers a bit.
  5. My daughter calls me into the room the other day yo see R2 and Threepio on one of her Disney channel shows. Next thing you know, laser blasts start across the screen and a TK is there blasting away. Anyone know who this was? It was not one of Disney's costumes.
  6. Welcome to your new world! RS is a great suit and I am pleased to hear you are considering buying from the sellers list here. Most every set of armor uses similar methods for assembly. Studying build threads will show you what tools and supplies you will need then you can look up build threads that are specific to RS. Take your time. Patience is one of the greatest tools you can have on your side.
  7. Hey Tom, Thank you for providing the necessary pics and I will clear you for EIB. Congratulations!!!! Centurion Suggestions: You mentioned that you were going to shoot for Cneturion and I am glad to hear that with all the work you have done so far. A few things you will need to look into. I can;t tell if you have rubber hand guards yet. some pictures look like it and others definitely are not. Scuff up those pretty white shoes a little, the overlap of your back and kidney needs to be addressed. You should be able to make a snap adjustment on your shoulder straps to pull your back up just a bit so that it sits on top of the kidney rather than overlapping. Lastly, I know you did all that trim work to your holster. The connecting straps are very, very short. Typically there is about an inch between the belt and the holster. I would increase the gap you have just a bit so it doesn't appear to be so close to the belt. Congrats again on the EIB!!!!
  8. What is the current width of the strips on the calf closure now?
  9. I just wish the RS butt plate would be re molded to not hang down so low and better contour to the body. Troopermasters butt is awesome! Wait..........
  10. that's more like it. Make sure you are not too close to the seam. The rivets should sit 10 MM from the seam.
  11. The CRL does mention 6 split rivets on the wearers left side. The rivet locations as you have them, Chase, are too far apart stemming from the lowest rivet location. We have so many photo resources here and so many build threads that rivet locations should be accurate with general research. The armor you have is going to need to be painted and a couple small rivet holes are an easy fix. Glue a piece of scrap styrene to the back and fill the hole with body filler or abs paste and sand smooth.
  12. Scott! This is some of the nicest fitting AP armor I have seen. You have done a heck of a job on your build and the fit on you is stellar!! I like your attention to detail by upgrading your mic tips, aligning the slots on your ear screws and nailing that sniper plate. CRL requirements: All requirements for EIB application have been met and will be granted! Well done!! Armor Fit/Assembly Suggestions: IF you were to put a gun to my head to make a suggestion, it would be to knock down the tops of the finish strips on your forearms and thigh tops. These really should not extend past the armor edge. Centurion Suggestions: I would hope that with the amount of effort and upgrades you have done that you intend on shooting for Centurion. You are so close already. With additions like rubber gloves/hand guards, snap/rivet placements, scuffed shoes, and mini straps over your shoulder bridges, you are there. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding this. Congratulations, Scott!
  13. You are just as well to properly hydrate the night before a troop. You are less likely to need to use the facilities
  14. Not just any glue will work for the hanguards. Karin herself has suggested Loctite for plastics available at Home Depot. It comes with a primer pen that supercleans the two surfaces. The adhesive is actually just superglue.
  15. NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM
  16. The interior is on the list of required shots for the EIB application. It is there mainly as a helping tool for other troopers, especially new, so that they can gather ideas in making their own strapping/harness system.
  17. Wow, Leonard! Well done! It is always a pleasure to see a build with that amount of attention to detail. CRL related: all EIB requirements have been met Other-Armor Fit and Assembly: Although neither of these suggestions will effect your EIB application, you might want to look into them. If you make a few more turns on the ear screws on YOUR left side it may tighten up the fit of the ear against the face. I looked at your build thread to confirm something regarding your sniper plate on your left knee. You seem to have left a little too much on the ends and this is causing it to flare out. The ends of the sniper really should not go past the corner of the top ridge of the shin.If you trim this down just a bit, it will probably eliminate that flare a lead to a better fit against the grieve itself. Centurion Suggestions: As Brenton mentioned above, it looks like the elastic is hitting the snap on the inside of your belt and preventing the drop box from aligning to the end. Notch out the elastic and that should solve that issue. This was a pleasure to view! A great job that deserves an easy pass. Welcome to EIB!!!
  18. Thank you all!!! I will do the best job I know how to honor my Legion!!
  19. Thank you, Tom, for updating the "D" ring and getting that holster trimmed up. Being a trooper who's body dimensions are more or in your case less than the original body type can come with its challenges. You have done nice work to meet that challenge. I do need two additional pics before I can fully pass this. I need a shot of the armor's interior and a full body action shot. You have waited long enough! Hopefully, you have already taken these pics and just forgot to post them. Let's get you EIB already!!!
  20. This is the charging handle Mathias was referring to. He is correct regarding the required "D" ring attached to the rear butt cap and the EIB application. If one is not present, could you please install it then provide a pic.
  21. Hey Chris Thank you on the congrats! Let's see if we can;t work out something here. I was thrilled to see the improvement you made with the thinner strip and how good it looks. I also appreciate your willingness to work with this. I think you will find that the vast majority of troopers will favor the thigh on the right, but let's focus on your concern. We are dealing with a couple issues here. You had mentioned about the raised areas on the armor and their intentions to be covered. I agree with that......on the raised areas that are supposed to be there. I speak mainly about the top of the forearms and the fronts of the thighs and shins. Now, if you were 5' 11" and 165 with bird-like legs we wouldn't even be having this discussion because the ridges in question on the back of YOUR legs (ATA) would have been cut away and/or completely covered. However, Like many troopers with larger legs (including myself who also own ATA) this just isn't the case. Why these raised areas are even present on the backs of these parts is still a mystery to me but they are and there isn't much we can do about that. However, do I believe that just because there is a raised area it is meant to be covered regardless of the width? No. I am willing to meet you in the middle here. 7/8" as you have it, is actually a little short of what is typically applied for the rear cover strips(15/16" or 25MM) . There has always been a plus/minus factor here. I am wiling to "plus" this by suggesting a 1 1/8" (30MM) strip. That should make things more symmetrical between your calf cover strip and the back of your thighs while covering up more of the ridge that concerns you. Nick's illustration above is close to the way that would look. When it comes down to it, Centurion is awarded for ultimate accuracy. Although raised ridges on the rear of the thighs and grieves were never there and something we just need to deal with, the cover strips are documented and need to come as close to originals as possible. I hope we can meet on this compromise and get you that badge!!!
  22. Hey Frederic. Sorry if this has been delayed a bit. We are snowed in here in the midwest US, and I did something silly yesterday; I dressed up like a Stormtrooper for some kids! WHO DOES THAT???! Oh....WE DO!!!! So let's get to it!!! Thank you for providing the pictures. Those interior shots really clear up a lot of questions for new troopers building their strapping systems. CRL Requirements All your CRL requirements have been met for basic 501st approval. EIB Requirements There is only one thing that I would like to see improved on your armor before I pass you. The ab buttons are too small. This seems to be a resurfacing subject with RS. The paint on the ab buttons, as seen in the archive photo, needs to come close to covering all the raised surface of the button itself. On an all white suit from the neck down, this is a feature that the eye moves to. We need to remain consistent on this. Post a pic of this easy improvement and this will go through no problem. Armor fit/assembly suggestions This wonderful armor is always a pleasure to see. Along your side seam you have some considerable overlap. There is a lot of extra material here. Although not an EIB requirement, your side rivets on your left side should be 10MM in from this seam. If you trim the ab back a bit on both right and left sides, you will find an improvement in both fit and the overall look of your armor. Also you should probably make a few more turns on the ear screws of your helmet to pull the tops in and make a better fit against the helmet face. Centurion suggestions Hopefully you will eventually apply for Centurion! Along with the required photos for your application, There are a couple things to look for: Your blaster photos, as you have them above ,fit the requirements but do not show the D ring. Second, the counter sits a little high and a little too far back. Here is a reference photo to compare to. On the armor side of things, Check to make sure your drop boxes can align with the belt end and look into trimming up those sides and you should be there with no problems!! Great looking armor!!
  23. Insert Jeopardy music here
  24. Hey Frederic. RS sets are definitely helping the Legion to look more and more incredible. In regards to your EIB application, I need you to provide a few more additional required pictures, please. Close up of your left and right sides, Cod to butt plate attachment, interior strapping, and your Holster attachment. Thank you.
  25. We need more builds like this. This is so cool!
