  1. Good evening members of the FISD, I'd like to thank you for having the confidence in me to fill the role of Detachment Leader. This is not the way any of us would want to be taking this station. Joseph has been an important part of this detachment for as long as I have been here. He embodies Troopers Helping Troopers, and has never shied away from helping others. He was a natural choice for DL. Sadly personal circumstances have made that impossible for him. I wish him the best in this difficult time he finds him self in. Andrew Franke @Sly11 has agreed to step in as XO. His experience is undeniable, and will be a welcome boost as I catch up with this term. Other positions will remain unchanged at this time. Having been thrown in at the deep end my priority is to get a plan for the term up and running. Wheels had already started to turn on a number of projects, though most of which are not ready to share yet. This said I do want to take a fresh look at the year, looking at any carry over from the last term and coming up with a final plan for the year. With unquestioned loyalty. Chris Detachment Leader

  2. As many of you may now be aware, yesterday evening justjoseph63 tendered his resignation as detachment leader to the FISD staff. The Legion COG team was then notified of this, who today accepted this resignation and have now begun to take the appropriate actions as defined by the Operations Protocols. What does this mean for the detachment? The OP provides for 2 options: The XO may step up and assume the DL position, subject to a confidence vote by the detachment membership. Should the XO not be willing, and emergency election will be held. As XO I have informed the LCOG team that I am willing to assume the DL role. Details of the confidence vote can be found in this detachment members only post: At this time I would like to request you honour Josephs request for privacy in this matter. This was not a decision that he came to lightly. I am sure you will all join me in wishing Joseph the best in what must be difficult times.

  3. I just wanted everybody to know that being a Stormtrooper really makes me smile. I've got an official LFL event to go to soon and I feel like "I'm the real deal" now that I've been approved as an official 501st member. I've wanted to be a stormtrooper for almost 48 years, My wife doesn't understand it, but you people do. I personally feel honored to be representing Star Wars in all of its glory. And will never forget this memory I'm about to create.

  4. and at last.... 100!!!! 3/2/24 - Destination Imagination State Tournament 100th!!!! TK TROOP!!!!!! And 5th for 2024. 100!!! It seems a little silly but my feeling of accomplishment for this is huge right now. I've been thinking about this since last December, but couldn't make that many troops due to life reasons. It had to wait till March. Five days after surgery to remove one of my balls due to testicular cancer. The extra room in my cod piece is very noticeable! I couldn't troop more than about 90 minutes but it still counted and I'm so proud. Less proud of how I held my little sign... fingers over the P and S... but you can't win them all and we TKs don't have legendary aim anyway. With Brandon and Ben. Brandon was there at my first troop. I bet we'll be together for 200. Group selfie! This was a big STEM tournament at a school and the kids LOVED having us there. No way to stop taking group pix with them. We'd be clear for like 5 seconds and then another bunch would gather us up for another group pic. Which was great! I just wanted one with our group tho. Heidi debuted her Nihilus today, which was awesome. Her very first 501st troop! She's the lady Jedi (Master Kai) who's in so many selfies above. And Mabel. Little Mabel absolutely loved all of the attention. Very rarely was she able to walk anywhere. Mostly it was just kids rubbing her belly and giving her love. She's very good at her job. This was the end of my VERY FIRST troop so many light years and parsecs ago. Froyo with my buddy Gus. And the end of Troop 100 - Froyo with my darling wife Sarah. Same froyo, same armor, just a whole lot more light years on it. 100 troops. More room in my codpiece. Life is good.

  5. Greetings troopers! For a while now FISD has been hosted on the Legion web servers who cover our hosting costs along side those of the Legion. We do still have costs we cover ourselves, the big one being the email service. Over the last few years this has been generously paid for by members of staff, who have already covered a chunk of this year. In order to fully fund the email service we need to raise $150 to keep the emails going until the end of the term. We would like to let as many of you contribute as possible, so we are asking for a $2 donation towards the running costs from any members who are in a position to do so. Now you might be asking what do I get out of this? First we all get emails! You also get the warm feeling of knowing you are a trooper helping troopers. All members who donate will also have the 2024 supporter banner added to their profile. We are now funded, thank you to all of you who donated. With Unquestioned Loyalty, Your FISD staff team

  6. We are now funded through into the next term, so this funding drive is now closed. Thank you to all of you who donated and have kept the Imperial engine turning. Supporter badges have been applied to all of you. As a reminder the majority of our costs are picked up by the Legion, who are currently having a drive to cover those pretty substantial costs. If you have not yet done so, even $1 will help. https://www.501st.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=113646

  7. To echo what Chris said, a big THANK YOU to each and every one of you who donated. I've PMed or emailed most of you confirming receipt of your support, and the remainder of you will receive confirmation from me by tomorrow. For now, the easiest way to confirm your gift was received is to check your profile for the Supporter badge. Forthcoming will be receipts showing how and when the funds are applied to our forum/email expenses.

  8. 2/9/24 - National Pizza Day 2024 98th TK troop, 3rd for the year. National Pizza day? Apparently a thing. We had a troop at a local shop that does board games and pizza. Good times!! I wore my HWT. Chris, our 2024 GCO, is inside that wampa. It was my first wampa troop. I expected it to be outside. Very much the reverse of the Haven House troop. I was like "how could they have room for everyone inside??" and it was huuuuuge in there. So I wore the HWT and the thermal undies and an undershirt and hand warmers taped to my chest. I was boiling. Chris was also boiling. Neither of us lasted extremely long that night. Master Kai with a board game suggestion! Try to take a nice pic and an ACD just jumps right in the back, lol I love these Good times and good pizza. Would troop this one every year. 2/24/24 - UNM Children's Hospital Visit 99th TK troop, 4th for 2024 An emergency, last minute hospital troop requested by the parents and care-givers of a small warrior with an inoperable brain tumor. I have ball cancer. It's not a huge deal. It's been described to me as "the best cancer you can get if you have to have any." It's super treatable even in the latest stages. I'm in the very earliest stage. My outlook is extremely good. The young patient we were there to see had no such prognosis. He's fighting hard and was an incredible person to meet. He was having a great day when we visited and was so full of life. Full of questions. Full of imagination. If I live 2 more days or 20,000 more, he'll be an inspiration to me for the rest of them. He requested Kylo Ren and Rey. We supplied them. Only one Mando signed up and I was able to take the extra troop slot that the Mercs had for the event. I'm grateful for the experience. I'm a little less grateful for THIS shot. But I love all of my friends who demanded I pose for it. I was in the hospital 2 days after this troop having my right nut removed. And as of now there's at least 99% less cancer in my body than in the above cone-of-shame photo. MAYBE 100% less! I'll know in a few weeks.

  9. #2. Event: Atlanta Brick Con Date: Sunday, 11 February, 2024 Host unit: Georgia Garrison Kit: ANH-Stunt (LEGO) I recently doubled my official troop count at a LEGO convention in Atlanta, and I'm finally recording it here on the last day of the month (thank you leap year for the bonus day). This was an exciting event for me not only because it was a crossover of two hobbies, but it also represented my first official troop with my own garrison. I live a couple hours away from the heart of our trooping action, so I began the morning with a two hour solo drive down to Atlanta. I had convinced my closest squad member (an hour from me) to join me on the troop and we met there. After months of anticipation, and assembly as I'll later explain, I was super excited to finally troop with my garrison and show off the AMAZING blaster that @revlimiter had printed. Needless to say I think it was quite a crowd-pleaser, though twice I got asked "Does that make your aim better?" Based on the comments, kids only recognized the blaster from recent Star Wars LEGO video games, not the original 20-year-old sets, but I'm sure the many adults present felt the nostalgia. It turns out that this troop was more of a photo op for us Legion members there, rather than a traditional con with a table and personal fan interactions. We were situated in a corner of the con floor dedicated to Star Wars MOCs (My Own Creation), and essentially had a line non-stop for the two hours I was there. When I first arrived we had a Vader and Jedi, but then us Devin and I took over with TK duty. Check us out! TK-47501 & TK-73692 | Photo by James Clarke @thereallucasmccoy Also, lefty grip. While at our post we came across two princesses, but unfortunately they were not the one we were looking for. Seems they were from a different star system. TK-73692 & TK-47501 with @thepartypalacealabama | Photo by @bricksnaps / @thebeautifulbrick If you hadn't already noticed, in addition to the LEGO style blaster I carried, I had made some modifications to my actual armor loadout. After all, when in LEGO Rome, you play the part! What started off as originally just constructing a LEGO thermal detonator morphed into a larger belt project. I was extremely happy with the final result, with a nearly 1:1 scale LEGO replica of the normal plastic belt parts! In fact, I daresay did such a good job at the reproduction that NOT A SINGLE PERSON mentioned the LEGO parts I was wearing for the entirety of the troop (other than my garrison mates who knew my plans in advance). They were booty blinded by the blaster I guess, and didn't even notice the RS style creamy white LEGO plastic against my cooler white ATA armor. Haha. In the future I'll post a separate thread to document the full extend of this LEGO belt build, but for now here is a peak. The TD has 20mm "end caps" (yay CRL) and proper dimensions over all, other than the fact that is the smaller 2" North American variant rather than the more screen accurate 68mm version. Don't worry, a larger version is in the works. At the conclusion of the photo session, I made a quick round on the con floor in civilian cloths (actually my HKG Star Destroyer racing shirt!), and snapped a few photos. This Death Star hanger was particularly impressive, and I'm bummed I didn't immediately notice all the intricate scenes shown on the outside due to my rush to get home. Otherwise I would have taken additional close-up images. My favorite is what appears to be a unit of TKs taking instructions with modeling of ANH TKs on the TV. Of course, there were many MANY other MOCs, and I recorded a few Disney ones to show my daughters. Star Wars > other IPs. Overall I think it was a successful troop, and I learned a lessons and have a few kit adjustments to make. I experienced some feedback with my voice system which I hadn't in the past, so I need to better dial in the volume, and perhaps add some insulation in my chest piece above my speaker (that I wear with a GoPro chest harness). I also had a shoulder bell-bicep snap failure, which is one of the only two places I have single snaps on my kit. Seems I'll be implementing at least some version of Adam's shoulder snaps solution. He goes hard with them! All-in-all, a fun troop, and one that I will plan to attend annually despite being posted at a photo booth the entire time. I'll likely modify my belt to have some exposed studs to make the LEGO fun more obvious, and perhaps even add some lettering. L E G O T K the cartridges? Who knows, perhaps I'll continue to add LEGO armor parts to my armor and become a true LEGO TK.

  10. Hello! My name is Jason, I am 48-years-old, and I just started trooping. I am a huge fan of Star Wars since A New Hope so I have chosen a stunt stormtrooper as my first costume. That opening battle aboard the Tantive IV is forever imprinted on my mind. My father was in the U. S. Air Force and we were stationed in Sembach, Germany, when I was very young. Even though I was born in 1975, it took years for A New Hope to make it to the theater on our base in Sembach so I got to see it as a young child in the theater. I ordered my costume from Dave's Darkside Depot and received it in January. I have joined the 501st Legion and received my Legion ID (21137). I have joined the Diamond Garrison in Arkansas and attended my first troop this past Sunday for a Make A Wish fundraiser and had a great time. I look forward to being a productive member of our garrison, our local squad (the Womp Rat Pack Squad), and these forums. Thanks!

I am excited to show mine off but I am putting off sewing that big back patch! Whilst there have been some changes over the last week, the team had already been hard at work for the new term. We are also happy to allow appearances at theaters screening The Phantom Menace during this time. All fans, costumed or otherwise, can participate with venues of their choice within this window with the restriction that costumed appearances must not be used in the advertising for the event. Although these appearances will be treated like an open invite, we’ll leave it to the fan groups to independently organize around these events as they see fit. LFL will not need to approve or coordinate these. Please note that retail locations should not include restaurants, bars, or venues with no apparent reason to feature Star Wars characters. In the coming weeks, we may send out a list of ‘preferred’ retailers and theaters who would welcome fans to participate at their venues within these event windows, but you are all still welcome to make plans with appropriate retailers or venue hosts of your choice regardless of whether or not they appear on the list. *REMEMBER* Always follow your garrison/squad/outpost guidelines when in comes to organizing Disney/LFL promotional troops, only command staff should deal directly with LFL. 14. Hello! Just wanted to share my progress on my Enoch build. This build has been completely homegrown except for the boots. From all of the printing, to all of the sewing of undersuit and leather pieces, to the fabrication of the blaster. I am nearly done. All of the armor were files from Galactic Armory. I decided to give resin printing a shot on all of my armor. I have made several kits using FDM but just loved the detail of resin. So decided to give it a shot and I am very happy with it. https://imgur.com/a/iKabdej

  15. Troop #4 Indiana Comic Convention marks the beginning of a busy couple of months for the Bloodfin Garrison, and what a way to kick off this busier season! As usual, Bloodfin joined the Mos Espa base of the Rebel Legion and the Taakure Klan of the Mando Mercs as our Star Wars Indiana umbrella group to have a presence at all 3 days of the con! I was only able to attend on Saturday, March 23rd, but it was a jam packed and amazing day! Highlights of the day include us all making an appearance on the local morning news, witnessing a marriage proposal between cosplayers dressed as Padme and Anakin (they were non-members, and it was gladly agreed to when the Padme cosplayer asked a few days beforehand, so we were ready to celebrate and take many photos of the happy couple), enjoyed a visit from Bad Batch voice actress Vanessa Marshall, and just had a fabulous time with fellow fans! Shortly before doors opened, I was able to pose like an action figure in our specially made box! The box was a hit with just about everyone, so there's was almost always a line of at least a few people wanting photos! Much of my day was spent taking lots, and lots, and lots of photos with people visiting the booth and passing by. I also had opportunities to patrol the vendor hall with other troopers and were frequently stopped for photos (thanks to TK-5961 for letting me use an extra blaster he brought)! I think a couple hundred photos were taken through my estimation of just how frequently people asked to get photos! As many here have probably experienced, once one person asks for photos, those around them see that they can get photos and then ask as well! It helped that we have 4 TKs at one point, so many people congregated around us! I don't have any photos that I have permission to show from all the picture taking, but I have seen myself appear in different Instagram and Facebook posts when searching the comic con tags on social media! I was able to take some brief rest breaks in our Cantina scene that we had set up. We had a lot of fun doing different poses our group photographers asked us to do. One fun photo was of stormtroopers and Mandos hating each other (Edit, March 24: The other TKs in this photo are TK-5961 and TK-4408 @Hyper and it was an absolute pleasure trooping with them): We then put aside our hatred to play rock, paper, scissors (it's a video, so I can only post the link): https://i.imgur.com/DZ5665x.mp4 I also posed for a photo of 5 different types of troopers: I also had a brief, peaceful encounter with a droid and a Jedi (I dubbed this photo 'Larry, Curly, and Moe go to Indiana Comic Con'): In all, I spent about 8 hours in armor! I was able to go about 6 hours until my back gave too many warning signs to take a break (yay chronic back pain), so I rested in civilian clothes for about an hour before getting back in armor for 2 more hours. Despite this, I have to say this was the best troop yet, and I am so excited that my next troop is only a couple weeks away and will be part of the couple of days of local celebration around the upcoming solar eclipse! I am really happy that trooping season is here!

  19. 46. 2024-03-03, SciFi World 2024, Stockholm (Hero, with DLT-19) The last day of SciFi World 2024 in Stockholm! It was a success, and the Children's Cancer Fund are happy to get yet another donation! I love what we do, and how we do it, and why we do it! During these 2 days we had about 50 troopers, so about 1/4th of all troopers in Sweden! SciFi World isn't the most popular event for us by far, so that number was most impressive! This day was also my 3rd time sporting the DLT-19 and I love it! We never miss a high five! A picture with my favorite Vader and fellow TK @Coil (also Andreas, please come to the forum more often and update your troop logs! We often use pictures for our Social Media and you always take a lot of good ones! ) "Stay Classy" - The Emperor (a future TK right here) Here's me and Pontus (TK-92152), the two OG's of "Scary Looking Nerd Herders" Video proving we can hit our targets! https://i.imgur.com/Yrj50gJ.mp4

  21. 45. 2024-03-02, SciFi World 2024, Stockholm (Hero, with DLT-19) Finally time for a convention again! We've had a ton of fun today, joked around all day. At the beginning of the day I was like: "Today I'm going to be an annoying Stormtrooper", and had the best time ever! They have a super cool trench run simulator here! A good old Snowspeeder We met Joonas Suotamo (the new Chewie). Such a sweet sweet dude! Met an adorable little Vader that liked to choke out our Officers a little too much! You gotta start somewhere!

  22. I was talking with my family the other day about how happy I am to be part of the Legion. It is wonderful that we can all be part of something that transcends our backgrounds, cultures, and generations! Few organizations are like this, and I am happy to be part of such an amazing group and community!

  26. 47. 2024-03-14, Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset Huddinge (Karolinska University Hospital Huddinge), Stockholm (Hero) Then it was time for another hospital visit! These troops... always hit hard! First time wearing a mask as a TK! We had to wear them as we visited a certain section of the hospital with people getting stem cells. The crew! This adorable little one liked me the most out of everyone (I'm not surprised), and after the high five she couldn't contain her happiness so she was running away from her intravenous drip! Her father had a hard time keeping up with the rolling stand for the drip! Then we went to a play section of the hospital and played some air hockey, pool and piano! Stormtroopers are vain! Of course I wanted to take a look! That's it for this time! On to troop 48 (Star Wars in Concert, Return of the Jedi)!

  29. Wow it's been a while since my last update. 10 more troops and a couple months. Spoilers: Mabel finished her chemo and is a happy hero pup. She's doing great and living life! I got diagnosed with cancer the same week Mabel was cleared. Stage 1 testicular cancer. I'm dealing with that now. Onto the troops. 12/9/23 - Cottonwood Classical Make a Wish Winter Stroll 90th TK troop, 45th for 2023. CREB 5435 - 28th troop and 13th for the year This one was a troop at a nearby charter school for Make A Wish. They do a silent auction every year to help one of the local MAW kids. It was their first year requesting the 501st and it was also the same night as a big Christmas Parade troop. Having this big a turnout was a huge win. Soos and Mabel got their very first troop together! I need to get Soos a costume. There's just not many for big dogs... The Mando turn out. Soos might need a little rocket pack... hmm. In the back they had RC balloon launches. Very cool and totally run by the high schoolers. Mabel wasn't the biggest fan of them but she didn't mind so much either. 12/10/23 - Holiday Car Show for Big Brothers Big Sisters 91st troop as a TK, 46 for 2023. This one was the next morning and it was COOOLD. Oh em gee. Super cold. Everyone was still all jolly from the previous night's parade troop, so I cuddled up under my jedi blankie and pauldron. The look was honestly good! Dirty armor would have improved it. Too cold for Mabel to troop that morning. She got to stay home where it was toasty. Gotta pose with Santa... Especially when he has a ride like this! Yeah, this vintage red Mustang was the above Santa's car in the show. He graciously let me plop my plastic butt down and get this shot. Worth the effort! And one with the event organizers. Hopefully we get to come back the next year and we get a little larger turnout. Why only three of us? Because another troop was happening concurrently. I removed my torso and drove over. 12/10/23 - 2nd Annual Toy Drive for Haven House (8 of 8) 92nd TK troop, 47th for 2023. The last toy drive troop (8 of 8!) for Haven House. This one is in the shadows in the cold... it was cold. That cloak may seem kinda dumb but it truly helps. And I feel less bad about the lack of screen accuracy thanks to Santa Maul and Santa Vader. Two troops on the same freezing morning. Good times! As we were packing up, literally every police officer arrived at this parking lot. A few mounted but mostly on cars and bikes. Each officer had a kid with them and those kids all got shopping sprees at the nearby Walmart. Brandon and I walked over and welcomed them inside. We posed for several hundred pix. We had a blast. We were just in the right place at the right time.

  31. I'm so happy for you! I still feel the same as when I started! I've never clung so hard to a hobby or community before, I'm here to stay! Can't see how my life would look like without it now that I have it! Crazy! Everyone on here becomes almost like an extended family, and it really shows when we go through tough times together, we are always there for each other! For the Empire!

  33. Hello, Kevin here from Imperial Surplus. I just wanted to let you know Option B version (back plate cover) is available when asked for at time or ordering the kit. I honestly have not had the option B requested in a long time (a few years) until just last week. I will continue to also provide some extra ABS with the armor kit to help with assembly needs. Any questions or want to order the Armor or Helmet kit please use the email on the Imperial Surplus website.

  34. Greetings Troopers, I have wanted to be a stormtrooper since I was 10, and I am starting my journey. I met some troopers from the Dune Sea Garrison, including the commander last weekend in Phoenix and I think now is the time to do it. I have a million questions, but I also want to set my expectations. For example, this is my first costume and my first armor, but I really want to shoot for Centurion Armor. There's nothing obvious in the requirements to steer me to the lower levels, but it does seem like you need to make that decision on day 1. Would I be crazy to try? Pros: I am a fairly handy person in general, and I am a lifelong maker of things. I am pretty good with 3D modeling, and I have a Prusa MK4. So I do have the ability to make my own small parts. I have made a Han Solo Blaster and Marvin the Martian's blaster. Both are fully finished props. I am working on Hellboy's gun, the Good Samaritan. My intent is to make that one fully realistic gun metal colored, so it's a good test for an E-11. I am an avid woodworker. I'm pretty good with a Dremel. (clamps people, the secret is clamps) I have built many small things, such as a set of steampunk goggles. That project included leatherwork, which I enjoyed. Cons: Uh, none of those things seem to have anything to do with the skills I need here. Also, I can't sew. (yet?) That would seem like a pretty huge liability. I understand that I will be purchasing the molded parts from someone, so I guess I don't need to build a vacuum form machine just yet; so that's good. Yeah, the con is that I don't know what I am doing. The Dune Sea Garrison does seem to have regular build parties, so I should be able to get some in-person help. Anyway, based on the resume above, should I shoot for centurion, or am I kidding myself?

  40. Hi Tim, I will be the Deployment Officer overseeing your application. Your application looks great and you have an amazing set of armour. Before we go ahead with the approval however, I just need a couple of things from you. 1. Could you please send another photo of the right side of the helmet? The one you have does not clearly show all 3 screws as the bottom screw is not visible. You just need to grab the photo at a slightly lower angle. There are a couple of minor fixes that we will need you to do as well before we can move ahead with the approval. With respect to the thermal detonator, Your control panel is sitting a bit too high and the round disk is pointing upwards. The CRL for the control panel is as follows: Basic CRL: The white control panel raised ribbed pad faces the rear, with the controls/round washer style detail closest to the right end cap. This is a fairly simple fix. All you need to do to correct this is open up the clip a bit to allow the thermal detonator to roll down a bit. Reference Images The second fix we will need on the thermal detonator is with respect to the placement of the clips. They should be up against the white end caps. You will just need to move them over slightly. If the black paint on the screws gets chipped off while doing this, its a simple touch up with a dab of paint. L2 CRL: Thermal detonator belt clips are positioned with little to no gap between the clips and the end caps. Reference Images

  45. 1/6/24 - Yo! Toys troop for ACC 96th TK troop, 1st for 2024. I believe we had no less than SIXTEEN of these promo troops for Albuquerque Comic Con. I only made one and this is the only pic I have. At least it was warm that day. Just a little snow. I also didn't make the con or any other troops in January. Life been hectic. 2/8/24 - Clone Wars Week @ Pres Hospital 97th TK troop, 2nd for the year This was my first time trooping at Presbyterian hospital and I believe it's their first event request since 2019. This wasn't one to miss. And the above pic got into the Legion and 501st instagram accounts I believe! Gotta love a good elevator selfie. (I'm all the way in the back) Our group. They allowed blasters! I brought my Leia Leveller and made kids smile with pew-pew-pew noises. There were many fun things at this hospital, like this wall of bubble mirrors. We took a TON of pix with kids and the hospital released all of them on social media. I added the sticker here because I don't believe in showing a kid's face in my troop log. The mood was extremely light around the hospital. Everyone was overjoyed to have us, doctors and patients alike. Some hospital troops really tug at your heart. This one filled it up. I was very happy to attend. I'd also just learned I had cancer. It was important to me to attend this one.

  46. Mabel deserved her own post at the end of 2023. She was diagnosed with TVT, Transmissible Venereal Tumor, in December. She had a HUGE tumor growing in her nasal cavity. It had completely shut it off and made it so she couldn't smell or breathe out her nose. The tumor ate away a lot of bone in her snoot and it was very very close to the thin wall between the sinuses and her brain. She didn't have more than 2 weeks of life left. Maybe 1 week. TVT is one of three transmissible cancers in mammals. It can't pass to humans. It's found on their genitals in 99.9% of cases and is passed through doggy sex. It's not common in the US due to our spay and neuter programs. Mabel's was in her snoot, so she was almost certainly born with it. The tumors grow like fire (like cancer) but don't spread throughout the body. They're super super responsive to chemo but not to surgery or radiation. Mabel got diagnosed and had her first chemo that same week. Some amazing doctors rushed her into a treatment program. The tumor started to shrink immediately. By the 2nd week, she could breathe out her nose again. And by the 4th week, she was a happy little Cattle-Pom again. She was very much my little wish kid during that first week of treatment. No one expected her to survive. I took her everywhere she enjoyed going. We said goodbye to all her friends at service dog class. She went on one last troop with me (the school one with her brother). I even let her have some chocolate. Not a lot, of course. But when a dog is near the end of their lives, they are often rewarded with a little chocolate. They love it as you might imagine. A small amount isn't enough to make them sick. Mabel was at the chocolate part of her life. And then she lived. She had 8 chemo treatments and was pronounced clear. She'll get a CT scan in about 2 months to see if anything has regrown. Then she's scanned at 6 and then yearly. She's my little miracle.
