  1. Good evening members of the FISD, I'd like to thank you for having the confidence in me to fill the role of Detachment Leader. This is not the way any of us would want to be taking this station. Joseph has been an important part of this detachment for as long as I have been here. He embodies Troopers Helping Troopers, and has never shied away from helping others. He was a natural choice for DL. Sadly personal circumstances have made that impossible for him. I wish him the best in this difficult time he finds him self in. Andrew Franke @Sly11 has agreed to step in as XO. His experience is undeniable, and will be a welcome boost as I catch up with this term. Other positions will remain unchanged at this time. Having been thrown in at the deep end my priority is to get a plan for the term up and running. Wheels had already started to turn on a number of projects, though most of which are not ready to share yet. This said I do want to take a fresh look at the year, looking at any carry over from the last term and coming up with a final plan for the year. With unquestioned loyalty. Chris Detachment Leader

  2. As many of you may now be aware, yesterday evening justjoseph63 tendered his resignation as detachment leader to the FISD staff. The Legion COG team was then notified of this, who today accepted this resignation and have now begun to take the appropriate actions as defined by the Operations Protocols. What does this mean for the detachment? The OP provides for 2 options: The XO may step up and assume the DL position, subject to a confidence vote by the detachment membership. Should the XO not be willing, and emergency election will be held. As XO I have informed the LCOG team that I am willing to assume the DL role. Details of the confidence vote can be found in this detachment members only post: At this time I would like to request you honour Josephs request for privacy in this matter. This was not a decision that he came to lightly. I am sure you will all join me in wishing Joseph the best in what must be difficult times.

  3. Please everyone join me in congratulating Joseph as the incoming DL of our fine Detachment. Congratulations, Joseph, I look forward to seeing what the next chapter for FISD will be under your direction. The membership is in good hands, and I am here to support you with what ever you need, as I am positive any of the staff existing and new into the future will. Once again, congratulations

  4. OK all you awesome white armor types, I am officially back, and so DANGED happy to say that! As a few of you may know, I went through some health and personal issues over the last few months which has precluded me from being around, but thanks to lots of physical therapy and just plain refusing to give up I am back in the saddle and ready to take on the world! Although I won't be able to wear the HWT pack any longer I should be able to suit up in my regular armor within a few weeks. That being said, I signed up for a troop in Nov. so that gives me a goal to get my Stunt polished up so I can get back to putting some smiles on some faces and meet some of more of my new Squad members! My apologies for not getting back to you (yet) if you have PM'd me. I have a lot of catching up to do, so thanks for your patience! Also, a big THANKS to all those (especially Andrew, Paul, Mario, Chemi and Caleb) who went above and beyond. Now that things are back to normal I will be here 7 days a week as I have for 7 years until this setback. Please feel free to hit me up with any questions about armor or builds or just say hello. I love you guys and gals of the FISD... my second family. It's good to be back home here.

  5. Greetings fellow members, It is my pleasure to announce the two newest recipients of our Imperial Attaché Outstanding Achievement Award. This honor is bestowed on Attachés who go above and beyond the call of duty in their role as an Imperial Attaché, and both of these troopers have consistently exemplified the qualities warranting recognition. Arthur @giskard8 - TK39093, Hong Kong Garrison A seasoned veteran of the Detachment, when Arthur is not trooping he can be found welcoming new members to the forum and congratulating our new and higher level approvals. His actions contribute to the long tradition of FISD being the friendliest forum in the Legion, and no doubt Arthur will continue to consistently be at his Attaché post! Today we salute your unquestioned loyalty, Arthur! Gerald @Doggydoc - TK96004, Canadian Garrison It's nearly impossible to sneak in a new member introduction or special approval post without Gerald jumping in and welcoming the aspiring builder or joining the celebration of the new approval. He is also known to provide valuable input and helpful feedback throughout the forum. Today we salute your unquestioned loyalty, Gerald! Please join me in congratulating these two troopers!

  10. I just wanted everybody to know that being a Stormtrooper really makes me smile. I've got an official LFL event to go to soon and I feel like "I'm the real deal" now that I've been approved as an official 501st member. I've wanted to be a stormtrooper for almost 48 years, My wife doesn't understand it, but you people do. I personally feel honored to be representing Star Wars in all of its glory. And will never forget this memory I'm about to create.

  11. Thank you for this award, it is a true honor. I certainly have no idea why on the Death Star I deserved this, but I will take this as an encouragement and continue to server our community with pride. One thing I like to report on a project I am currently working on; I am making a series of video guide, localized in Cantonese about DIY a Stromtrooper. This project is inspired by our late FISD member CableGuy (Dan), I hope to follow his footsteps on documenting the building process and introduce the collective wisdom of FISD to Cantonese speaking Star Wars fans in Hong Kong, UK, Canada and other countries (yes, we are now scattered all over the world), hoping to make a connection and keep the Cantonese language alive at the same time. I planned six 25mins episodes of A-Z introduction and will move on to do a new kit TK/TD after that, the series is now into its 2nd episode and I am currently making the 3rd one. I will make a thread and report on the progress in the Chinese section under "Imperial Embassies".

  14. Those posting the negative comments online obviously have no idea what we represent. If they would bother to dig a little deeper into our organization, they would find that we have raised over $360,000.00 for the "Make-A-Wish" foundation and many, many thousands more for local charities. We spend crazy amounts of money building our costume(s) and then drive countless miles to appear (for free) at the events we attend on our own time. Remember, we only show up when we are invited, and this includes children's hospitals, police community events, parades, etc. We are asked back to these events year after year for a reason. Yes, we are the "bad guys", but what kid wouldn't want to meet a "real life" Stormtrooper who gives them a high-five? We don't do this for notoriety. We do it because we care. Yeah, it's fun to dress up as your favorite SW character, but when you see a giant ear-to-ear smile on a kid (or adult) at a troop it makes all the time (and money) you spent building that costume worthwhile. "Bad guys doing good". Side note: I have been on more troops than I can count, and I have noticed that the vast majority of those wanting photos with members of the 501st (especially TKs) FAR outweighs those wanting a pic with a Jedi. No offense to you Rebel Legion types, lol.

  15. Greetings to all Troopers (and future troopers)! On behalf of the staff, I would like to be the first to announce that we have now completed the next CRL to be added to our roster of approved FISD costumes (making a total of twenty)! As a bonus, a new weapon (the Ascension pistol) has been approved for this ensemble. A link will be added to the existing 501st FISD CRL site on 4/3/23 at 09:00 GMT. As with all costumes, please note that requirements are subject to minor updates. Those aiming for Basic 501st approval are urged to review this CRL for any such changes before submitting to their GML. Requirements for Expert Infantry (listed in blue) and Centurion (listed in red) have been included for those wishing to attain higher levels of approval, and may be submitted to the the D.O. department only after Basic approval is granted. Any questions for the staff or comments can be made on this thread. An announcement (as seen below) will be made on all of our social media platforms: SO, without further ado, we present the newest addition to our approved costumes:

I just wanted to share this, at one of my troops recently I got 3D scanned, and I'm going to get a 3D printed copy of this very soon that I'm going to paint and have as a statue at home! If I get ahold of the file, maybe I could make it available to everyone if you want to print a screen accurate TK and have at home? Edit: File here Height of model: 180,79cm || 71,1771654 inches

  18. #1. Event: Chattanooga Comic Con Date: Saturday, 21 October, 2023 Host unit: Midsouth Garrison, Mos Nooga Squad Kit: ANH-Stunt The day started out with my daughter's soccer game followed by our small town's Fall Festival, and due to the presence of bouncy-house inflatables, it looked like I might not event make it to the convention. We made a last-minute decision to bring the entire family so we rushed home, dressed up my 4YO, then made the 30-minute drive into the city. Not only was this my first ever troop, but it was also my first ever convention to attend in general, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. After picking up our badges we found our way to the Legions area, where I met the city's local unit, the Mos Nooga Squad of the Midsouth Garrison (TN), for the first time. Note that I live across the state line in GA and am a member of the Venator Squad of its Garrison. So yes, this first official troop wasn't even with my own Garrison. Making our way to the changing room, my wife helped me kit up (only the third time she'd ever seen me as a TK), and at one point the spitting image (face, hair, glasses, etc.) of Iron Man waddled through the dressing area. Catching sight of my daughter, he exclaimed "Earth is closed," to a young Vader. We should have nabbed a picture with him. After 30-45 minutes of dressing due to disassembled armor for transport, I headed out onto the con floor for Blast-A-Trooper. Apparently there had been a TK there earlier in the day (his FX kit made it onto the news lol), but the squad was short on hard armor, so they were eager to have me. I heckled the nerf shooters with galactic jargon, and probably used "move along" far too many times. Unfortunately, no photos were taken, but since the nerf rounds had rounded tips rather than suction tips, none of them stuck to me anyway. Some kids had a blast. After a bit I decided to walk the con floor to drum up some additional Blast-A-Trooper attention, but was quickly and continually stopped by children and adults alike wanting photos. Apparently my area is short on TKs, with the local squad only have 10 squad members to begin with. The convention hall next door was hosting an IFBB body building competition, and while I was in the corridor one of the contestants exclaimed that getting a photo with me was really why he was there. While roaming around I ran into Scout @Pugs501, from my actual Squad, in her Jawa, and it was a cool moment of meeting for the first time after interacting online for 2+ years. Needless to say I felt extremely short. Scout also introduced me to Ashe of Bad Ashe Design, and we educated her on the green lenses of TK buckets after I explained that I couldn't tell the color of any of her pins and stickers for sale. I also spotted Jorge's @zv288bot meilooruns, but unfortunately he wasn't going to make the con until the next day, and with his Chopper too! Bummed I missed them. On our way back to the Legion area I called out "Hello there!" to James Arnold Taylor, who immediately ran out from behind his table to engage my daughter. I wonder how often he's heard a "Hello there" from a TK in full kit with voice amp. Haha. Though she's never seen any Star Wars on screen other than Young Jedi Adventures, she held her own in the conversation, and JAT was quite gracious. We ended with me telling him "You can go about your business" to which he responded "Move along, move along." I was giddy. Ironically, we did also find the droid I was looking for, and had to snag a photo. Pic or it didn't happen right? The pesky goldie still seems to be illusive... Back at the Legion corner I had to get some photos with the hover tank that had previously made an appearance at ICCC Nashville. Apparently the Mercs bought it off the builder, and if I'd have had more time I would have climbed up onto it, and maybe even poked out of the hatch. Next time. Finally, before heading home I made one last patrol down the celebrity row and saw that Emily Swallow had nobody in line so I approached and greeted her. Really I just wanted to welcome her to town and thank her, but I was a bit star struck and bumbled through my words. Haha. I even forgot to tell her "This is the way" when ending our conversation. Do I even Star Wars?!?! So in review: First official troop Blast-A-Trooper Escorted mini Vader daughter Finally met Scout "Hello there" with Obi-Wan (JAT) Met Emily Swallow All in all I had a pretty good time. The clubs booth with a bit disorganized, and most members were in racing shirts rather than kits, but perhaps 3:00pm was too late in the day. I'm not sure if I'll go to the next cons in January and February, but I definitely want to get in on some charity action, and some troops with my own Georgia Garrison! But I have one in the books, and I can now fill out my census!

  21. and at last.... 100!!!! 3/2/24 - Destination Imagination State Tournament 100th!!!! TK TROOP!!!!!! And 5th for 2024. 100!!! It seems a little silly but my feeling of accomplishment for this is huge right now. I've been thinking about this since last December, but couldn't make that many troops due to life reasons. It had to wait till March. Five days after surgery to remove one of my balls due to testicular cancer. The extra room in my cod piece is very noticeable! I couldn't troop more than about 90 minutes but it still counted and I'm so proud. Less proud of how I held my little sign... fingers over the P and S... but you can't win them all and we TKs don't have legendary aim anyway. With Brandon and Ben. Brandon was there at my first troop. I bet we'll be together for 200. Group selfie! This was a big STEM tournament at a school and the kids LOVED having us there. No way to stop taking group pix with them. We'd be clear for like 5 seconds and then another bunch would gather us up for another group pic. Which was great! I just wanted one with our group tho. Heidi debuted her Nihilus today, which was awesome. Her very first 501st troop! She's the lady Jedi (Master Kai) who's in so many selfies above. And Mabel. Little Mabel absolutely loved all of the attention. Very rarely was she able to walk anywhere. Mostly it was just kids rubbing her belly and giving her love. She's very good at her job. This was the end of my VERY FIRST troop so many light years and parsecs ago. Froyo with my buddy Gus. And the end of Troop 100 - Froyo with my darling wife Sarah. Same froyo, same armor, just a whole lot more light years on it. 100 troops. More room in my codpiece. Life is good.

Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advance to 1500 Advanced Tactics Awards Newsletter Editor Staff List 2024 Follow FISD From our legion founder, Albin Johnson (TK-210) It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of TK/TD124, the legendary George "Old Sarge Oberon" of Garrison Carida. The oldest active Stormtrooper in the Legion, Sarge was there at the very beginning of Vader's Fist. His list of troops reads like a history book of the club. For decades he could be found at all the biggest Legion events, always in armor and always working the booth or a droid hunt or just on patrol. But always with a grin and a kind word for everyone. The 501st did not have a flashy start. It took volunteers doing hard work at events that no one had heard of. But Sarge was there, laying the very foundation blocks of the Empire. He was even at one of the earliest commanders' meetings. His advice was practical, even-handed. He wasn't there to impress. He was always there to serve. Most of all, he was a good friend. Whenever we met in our years of Star Wars adventures, he'd pat me on the back and tell me what a great time he was having. It is no exaggeration to say he was the epitome of the Legion spirit. I wish all the new kids in the Legion could know what a goat really is - Oberon was it. He was legend. I'm honored to have known him. Rest well, Sarge. Your patrol is done. May we always live up to your example. To learn more about the man and his exploits, check out this lovely page made in his honor: https://www.legionxxiv.org/trooper124/ Condolences to his family, friends and garrison "Buckets Off" Carl Weathers, forever a member of the Lucasfilm family, past away on 1st February 2024, he was 76. With the launch of The Mandalorian on Disney+, Weathers joined the galaxy far, far away as Greef Karga — an expeditor for the Bounty Hunter Guild who rises to become Magistrate of Nevarro, and ally to the Mandalorian and Grogu. He would receive an Emmy Award nomination for his efforts. In addition, Weathers stepped into the director’s chair for the critically-acclaimed episodes “Chapter 12: The Siege” and “Chapter 20: The Foundling." We’ll miss you, Carl. Be at peace. Condolences to his family, friends and the whole Star Wars community "Buckets Off" Greetings fellow members Elections are in full swing and once again FISD has come through them with no opposition although this time with a difference. It has been an absolute pleasure and a total honour to have been the commanding officer of this fine detachment for the last 4 years. In that time we brought the FISD forums into the new age with a huge amount of effort from all the staff. We worked diligently to make sure this was a friendly detachment for everyone, not just those inspired to join the 501st. That is important because ultimately, we want everyone to make their Stormtrooper dreams become a reality. We brought new sections, new colours and new reasons to want to be a member here with working to enlist costumes that were not only exciting but not all hard armour for FISD. We brought us closer to other detachments and now our relationship with them is better than its ever been. You can see our list of the work we achieved in my post here . In closing out on this chapter for my tenure as Detachment leader of FISD, I would like to wholeheartedly thank all the members that make this place as good as it can be every day. To the staff who believed in my visions, to not only support them but exceed all expectations, and embody our unofficial motto of Troopers helping troopers in everything they do. We are in very good hands with our new leader Joseph, who not only understands the importance of this magnificent collection of research and incredible encyclopaedia of Storm trooper knowledge, but also lives the motto and understands how important you all are at keeping this forum alive and well. I will still be around, although taking a background role in maintaining the forums and assisting Joseph in creating whatever he requires to continue revitalising our forums and keeping us relevant for new comers and old. Once again, thank you for your support over these years, thank you for supporting the team and also in continuing that supporting Joseph and the new additions to the FISD staff. With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK-11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader Andrew "Sly11" TK11469 Many of you will now be aware that Andrew is stepping down from the role of FISD Detachment Leader after his 4 years in the job. On behalf of staff, members and the whole community we give thanks to you for steering the ship for 4 long years, for all your hard work, your confidence, support and guidance, your passion is unquestionable and your dedication is beyond reproach. Very few can even imagine the time and effort you have put in to the role and the rest you are now facing is well deserved. Undoubtedly you have made a big impact on a lot of our community, you leave a great legacy and you will always be remembered and admired. From your detachment, we salute you If you would to read more of what work was undertaken and completed over those 4 years head to this thread Greetings Fellow Troopers First off, let me thank you for being so supportive of me and the merchandise runs these past 2 years. I hope that I have provided quality products and service to all. With @justjoseph63 winning the election for DL here at FISD I'm very happy to announce that I will be staying on for another term as FISD's MBO. Recently Legion had a vote and passed some very comprehensive and streamlined rule changes on Merchandise and Branding (you can read about them here) which will change the way we do some of our standard merch. I am in talks with our new leader about merch for this term, and hopefully will have a plan that we can share to everyone before the March Newsletter. Let me tell you, I'm excited about some of the ideas that he has presented to me and I'm looking forward to sharing them with the troopers! Old Business The first annual Detachment Merchandise & Branding Officer End of year merch sale was a hit. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough items to cover everyone that wanted something. I hope to do this again next year and have already ordered a few extra items. You can read updates here. 1st Annual DMBO Merch Sale No new news on the #SecretMerch Item. The factory in China has been closed for the observation of Chinese New Year. Pfab tells me that he expects to have an update in the next week. but still believes that coins will be shipped early March. So We'll keep and eye on that. Secret Merch Item The shield patch run is complete and all patches have been mailed. Thank you to everyone for your understanding with some of the delay in shipping. I can't wait to see some folks post up their patch jackets, shirts, and other uses for their patches. Wear them with pride my fellow troopers. Here is where my first small patch went. 2023 Patch Run The Rocker run is closed. @MaskedVengeance has started sending payment request for these orders and will be placing the order soon, so hopefully they will be in your hands in the next 6 - 8 weeks. I'm very jealous of those that can wear these. I'm working on building my new AM kit to EI standard so that I can help "Advance to 1500". Rocker patches. New Business We were able to get two more items approved for the end of term. The first being the reissuing of the 501st Legion Stormtrooper banner patch. We reissued it in the standard red and black Legion color scheme that it was original issued in on it's first run and opened it to the legion. In addition, we added a version that is more closely aligned to our Detachment color palette, it is blue and white and exclusively for FISD members. This run is open until 24 FEB 2024 so please be sure to get your orders in. Stormtrooper Banner Patch Please remember to take time to check out your local, Legion and detachment elections. Participation in these helps guide the direction of these units. If you have any thoughts, suggestions, comments or concerns about FISD Merch or Branding, my "virtual" door is always open. Hit me up, you can reach me via email, forum DM, or find me on Facebook. Here is to another year of great FISD merch! These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Questions about fitting, repairs, CRL standards/requirements or anything pertaining to reaching Levels 2 and 3 are not only welcomed, but encouraged. 24. Hello all! So excited to finally be approved. It's been a long time in the making. My name is Marissa, I'm with the Dutch Garrison. I joined the legion in 2020 with my Darth Zash. I've made more 'obscure' costumes since (Mara Jade, Darth Revan), and seeing all the TK's at events made me really want to build my own as well. Every year we walk 10 kilometers in costume for Pink Ribbon during the annual Dam tot Dam event. Last year I walked in my Mara Jade, but I had so much respect for the TK's doing it in their kits. I then made myself a promise: next year I'll stand there in my TK too. So that was my goal and deadline! Having mostly worked with fabric before, a TK was really a challenge for me. Luckily I had help from my fellow troopers. I was approved last Wednesday, and yesterday I walked the 10km. I know that's insane for a first troop in a TK, but a lot of willpower goes a long way (and fans in my helmet..). Looking forward to many more events in this kit! Cheers!

  26. Greetings troopers! For a while now FISD has been hosted on the Legion web servers who cover our hosting costs along side those of the Legion. We do still have costs we cover ourselves, the big one being the email service. Over the last few years this has been generously paid for by members of staff, who have already covered a chunk of this year. In order to fully fund the email service we need to raise $150 to keep the emails going until the end of the term. We would like to let as many of you contribute as possible, so we are asking for a $2 donation towards the running costs from any members who are in a position to do so. Now you might be asking what do I get out of this? First we all get emails! You also get the warm feeling of knowing you are a trooper helping troopers. All members who donate will also have the 2024 supporter banner added to their profile. We are now funded, thank you to all of you who donated. With Unquestioned Loyalty, Your FISD staff team

  27. We are now funded through into the next term, so this funding drive is now closed. Thank you to all of you who donated and have kept the Imperial engine turning. Supporter badges have been applied to all of you. As a reminder the majority of our costs are picked up by the Legion, who are currently having a drive to cover those pretty substantial costs. If you have not yet done so, even $1 will help. https://www.501st.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=113646

That's right, more excitement coming soon, just in case you haven't had your fill yet. Small CRL Update The Rogue One TK and associated costumes (Artillery Trooper and soon to be Night trooper), have just undergone a small update at basic level. This update was made to allow the 2 major versions of the ammo belt worn, as seen in both the movie and TV series. The changes are as follows. The R1 belt has a front and rear plastic section. The CRL asked that these were overlapped on the sides a specific way. On screen, we see it overlapped front over back and back over front, so now the CRL simply states it is overlapped on the sides. You chose which way to overlap it. The belt overlaps on the sides The second small change was to allow the lower lip of the belt to be trimmed, as per many screen references. Some were trimmed and some were not, but both are seen as commonly as each other. The bottom edge of the front belt may run flat across the belt, or may be trimmed at an angle near the cod armor to match screen references. Some screen references showing the different trimming of this lower lip. No trimming Trimmed That's the update for January, see you all again in the final addition for the term. This run was managed by Pfab, and the last I heard, it may be March before we start seeing these coins due to the shut down in China for the Chinese New Year. I don't have any additional information to share at this time. If I get word about shipping dates or anything, I will update the thread here: Secret Merch Item As of December 29th, the patches have been completed by the factory and are undergoing QC. I'm eagerly awaiting their arrival at my home so I can begin sorting, packing and shipping to membership. Hopefully by the time the newsletter is published, they will have started shipping to members. I will provide updates in the thread located here: 2023 Patch Run The EI and Centurion rockers are still available, Thanks again to @MaskedVengeance for helming this run. For those that qualify the run can be found here: Rocker patches. With the Legion year closing, be sure to order any stickers that you may have been wanting ASAP from Assassin Graphics site. We don't know if they will be renewed next year, all information about how to order them can be found here: 2023 FISD Stickers Now that we've covered the old stuff... With the Legion year coming to a close, I have created the first annual DMBO (Detachment Merchandise & Branding Officer) End of year merch sale. I have collected some extra items and am looking to sell them to fund buying extra items for next year. Normally I buy a few extra items during each merch run in order to offer them to new members, but as I didn't get many request this year, it is time to sell these off. You can learn more about the sale here: 1st Annual DMBO Merch Sale We have two more Merch Items in the works for this legion year. I will post more information about them soon as I have approval from LMBO and LFL. Unfortunately, they will be short runs, as they have to be completed before the end of Feb. So please be checking the forum regularly, and if you have not setup to follow the Detachment Merchandise sections to get email alerts for new post, I suggest that you do so. If you have any thoughts, suggestions, comments or concerns about FISD Merch or Branding, my "virtual" door is always open. Hit me up, you can reach via email, forum DM, or find me on Facebook. With Unquestioned Loyalty James Silvius TK-12953 "jsilvius" Merchandise & Branding Officer With elections starting at the beginning of February it's time to check your detachment affiliation. OK so you look at your Legion profile and it shows that your detachment affiliation to FISD is pending, or otherwise incorrect. Why does this happen, and what is detachment affiliation anyway, and what will FISD do about it? The answer is that detachment affiliation is only ever used once a year, and for one purpose. The only time the Legion ever uses it for anything is to determine who can run for DL and who can vote in detachment elections. That's it. Otherwise it is pretty much ignored and not used for anything. The process of validating detachment membership is cumbersome and time consuming because people use different email information between their Legion and detachment logins, and that there is no way to bulk update the rosters. For a small detachment it is not a big deal to do this manually, but for a detachment the size of FISD with hundreds and soon thousands of 501st members, it's impossible. Fortunately we have technical folk both on FISD and in the Legion web team. Once a year they take a feed from FISD's database and do a bulk update on the Legion database. This occurs right before the election cycle starts and is done once per year. Pro tips: 1) Ensure the email address you use on the Legion & FISD boards are the exact same. 2) Ensure that your FISD profile has the correct TKID. 3) IMPORTANT! You MUST be in the right security group. It should be "501st Stormtrooper" in order for the automated system to pull you over. This thread is where you get your detachment access updated. 4) If after the bulk update is complete and your profile is still not updated, and you are 100% sure your info is in sync between the two boards, then ask for to the Legion web team. They should get feedback on why this isn't working. 5) If all else fails, ping the FISD staff. Which basically means that we'll simply tell the 501st web team to bulk approve everyone 6) If still you have no luck you can contact the legion web team directly via email: lwm@501st.com To check detachment affiliation go to the 501st holocron here, login using your 501st forum username and password, click on YOUR PROFILE DATA, then look down the lower part of the page for YOUR UNIT AFFILIATION, then under DETACHMENT AFFILIATION. If you do not see FISD listed reach out to your GML (garrison membership liaison) as they can add it if you are an approved Stormtrooper. If FISD shows as PENDING contact our DL @Sly11 and request a manual update. 2024 Legion Election Timeline It's coming up to that time of the year again, legion elections are just around the corner. 33. OK, folks, as mentioned in the title this will be my final (OT) E-11 build. Before I begin, let me give you a little background: This blaster was gifted to me by a dear friend who actually received it from a fellow trooper who has unfortunately passed on, and it needed some attention. The person who did the mods obviously had great intentions, but there were some issues which I have done my best to address. Keep in mind that during the time it was created it was a work of art, but with the advent of detailed screen caps and such I have tried my best to do it justice. Side note: I have been working on this for over a year off-and-on. Is it 100% screen accurate? Nope. After receiving it I dove into research on Airsoft E-11s, and found more than a few inconsistencies (mentioned later). I'm just doing my best to make it as close to screen accurate as I can, so bear with me.... Now, on with the show. This is how it looked when I started. Great in it's day, but just so many issues. 1. Copper tubing power cylinders 2. Wrong Selector switch 3. Shroud has a piece of black PVC glued inside. 4. Wrong muzzle. 5. Missing pieces on the magazine . I will have to strip it down to bare parts as best as I can. The first thing I had to do was remove the black PVC interior in the shroud, which was blocking all the holes. I drilled them out but it looked terrible. I ended up using a blow-torch to melt the PVC. It removed the interior as well as any chance of grass growing in my future patio area, but I am pleased with the results. Here comes the most difficult part. The previous builder had WELDED some sort of odd muzzle on, Sort of like an ESB, but not quite, so It's gotta' come off and be replaced. Ugh. The end of the shroud was not too pretty either. I cut off the muzzle and was left with this: To Be Continued!

Greetings fellow members, Welcome all to the October edition! What an exciting month gone by since our September newsletter, with plenty to sing about, so let's get stuck into it. Finally, we were able to get the green light on the long awaited Commander Pyre CRL, literally years in the making but now a 501st approved CRL. Congratulations to Dino (Sano) TK 75608 for his epic work bringing this character to life from the animated series Star Wars Resistance. More about this further down. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:Commander-pyre The Ahsoka series turned out to be very exciting for several detachments, with plenty of research going into developing good resources for what should be a bumper crop of new costumes for Legion. FISD certainly included amongst those with some pretty cool looking TK's and a new captain to boot. We have done our best to keep the forums and our SM platform as spoiler free as possible, but now the series has ended, it's time to have some fun open discussion on what we have seen. We have submitted requests to have both Night Troopers and Captain Enoch housed here on FISD, so we can create the CRL's. These are still out for a Poll in the LMO office, but at this stage no other detachments has shown interest. With that in mind, I would like to officially launch Two new sections within our forums. Night Troopers AND..... Captain Enoch The new sections can be found under the pre-existing area https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/31-costuming-and-builds-original-trilogy-and-anthology501st-approved/ Like any new addition to our forums, these new sections will have build threads, an already populated resource and reference area, plus an available vendors list, all designed to make it as easy as possible to get your new dream costume well under way. I would like to thank all the FISD staff who have helped with the resources and discussions regarding the viability of these fantastic looking costume becoming a pert of our awesome detachment. MERCH TIME AGAIN, yep you better believe it!! As one merch run closes, the next opens. Get ready and check further down in this addition for what is about to go live, but we won't stop there, we got more exciting merch a commin! We can't wait to reveal to everyone what it is. You can find more information on the run thread here We will also be offering EI and Centurion rockers to go with the shield patches. More info will be posted in the Detachment Merchandise. Here's what the charter says about activity definitions: Operations Protocol/Membership An Active Member is defined as a member in good standing who meets the following requirements: Meets all 501st Membership Requirements (i.e. ownership of an approved costume, is over 18 years of age, etc). Has an approved membership record in the 501st Legion Membership Database Maintains active contact with their Garrison CO or GML. Active contact and participation will be confirmed during the annual Legion Census held each year during the month of October. Maintains contact information/membership record in the 501st Legion database either through their Garrison CO or GML. Participates in at least one Garrison or Legion activity per year while wearing an approved 501st costume owned by said member as recorded in the Legion Census. (One year is defined as the period from Legion Census to Legion Census). Examples of an activity include, but are not limited to conventions, charity events, or any activity designated as an official event by a coordinating administrative unit of the Legion. Members who serve in military branches are exempt from activity level requirements if their service renders them unable to meet these requirements. These Minimum Activity Level Requirements should be administered as justly and with as much common sense as possible. A member may retain active status, even if they do not meet all of the requirements listed above at the discretion of their unit Commanding Officer or Legion Command. Filling out the census only takes a few minutes and you also have the opportunity to update your contact information ie: address, email, phone and so on. THE LAST EVENT TROOPED is the most important piece of data. Because our trooping year was cut short due to Corona-virus, Legion Command has recommended membership status changes are left to the discretion of the Unit Commander so please check in with your local command prior to filling out your census. NOTE: members who were not able to troop should enter "COVID-19" as their last troop. Any questions you have in regards to the census please contact either your GCO (garrison commanding officer) or your GML (garrison membership liaison) Census form layout With the last forum update the viewable area of the census may not be full page, as such change your page magnification to 75% and you should be able to see the whole page. Note: make sure you tick the box "Is the above information correct?" please tick YES If you have any problems with the logging in please contact the LWM team here: support@501st.com So stand up and be counted troopers, you have until 31st October. Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advance to 1500 Advanced Tactics Awards Newsletter Editor Staff List 2023 Follow FISD Greetings one and all to the August edition Well it finally happened, just after the last newsletter went live we received the approval for FISD's latest costume, the Artillery trooper, as seen in the Mandalorian! Congratulations go to Honeymustard TK-22540 (Logan Hole) of the Wisconsin Garrison for his great work and assistance in allowing us to add this great costume to the detachments growing library of colourful TK's ANH Hero upgrade In our ongoing quest to improve our existing CRL's the ANH Hero has received some treatment too. The space pack is now officially part of this CRL, and you guessed it, it will remain on the ANH stunt CRL as well. Recent discussions had the staff looking at some readily available behind the scenes images of the actor suiting up for the scene where you see 2 TK's external to the Death Star standing buy a gunnery turret. It is clearly seen he was wearing a Hero version of the TK costume, so staff voted to have it added where it belonged but to also keep it in the current Stunt CRL. This is a win for all. Rogue One TK update Since this CRL's inception, the incorrect type of gloves have been acceptable. We all know the ANH style rubber gloves were never used for this costume, so they are now no longer acceptable from basic level up. We have left Nomex and leather gloves as the basic option as they are closer to the First Order TK gloves but in all black. Of course you can have the accurate gloves at basic as well if you like. This was missed on the last major overhaul, but is finally as it should be. Yes I have harped on about the Commander Pyre CRL for a long time now, but we are getting close now. I recently spoke with the member (Dino) currently refining this costume and he has booked a photo session to get the last 4 photos done required to get this CRL complete for LMO review. I promise the next time you hear about it from me will be to announce it as green lit and open to legion. Don't forget our latest campaign Advance to 1500! If you have a TK and are considering the next level of approval, then check out our Expert Infantry program. Generally its only a few inexpensive mods to get you a step closer to screen accurate, you get a nice banner on your forum side bar, pride in the fact you reached a mile stone, and further more you help the detachment reach our milestone of more troopers looking the best they can. Yes there is also merch and even some exclusives only available to those who achieve this easy step towards accuracy. You will also be included in upcoming merch and more exclusive as we Advance to 1500. The 1500 unquestioned loyalty! I would like to thank Honeymustard TK-22540 (Logan Hole) of the Wisconsin Garrison for his epic work CRL here Rogue One Update ANH Rubber gloves no longer accepted at basic, only Nomex and leather type, all other higher level requirements taken from Lvl 3 and moved to lvl 2 Expert Infantry. ANH Hero Update Recently we had a discussion and ran a members Poll on making a change to the OT ANH Stunt and Hero CRL's. After analysis of some old behind the scenes images, it was realised that the Space pack as seen in the film was actually worn with the hero version of this costume. The Poll asked should the Pack be removed from the ANH Stunt CRL and added to the Hero, or should it be allowed on both. The results were for the later so now we have officially added the Space pack to the ANH Hero so you can wear it with either of these costumes. There are a few minor stipulation as there already were in the Stunt CRL so it cant be worn worn with certain other accessories. The Space Pack falls under the accessories section and reads as below. 36. UPDATE Well, my last post in this thread was thirteen months ago, but I just got home from an eight month deployment and decided it was time for an update. At the time of my last post I was just getting started on training, I began with nightly cardio and cutting out sugary beverages. My routine has changed considerably since then, but the biggest change has been dietary, not so much a change in the kinds of foods I’ve been eating, but the serving sizes. Recently, I’ve started a new weight training regimen consisting of 1-2 hours in the gym five days a week (M-F). I’d be happy to go into detail if anyone would like to know more, but for the time being I just wanted to post some progress here. Posting keeps a little bit of healthy pressure on me, and this journey is far from over. Keep working hard Troopers, keep making progress, it’s never too late to get started. Best of luck to all of you. Progress Troopers, Progress! Last Update: 248.5lbs Current Weight: 217.5lbs Updated Goal: 200lbs

Yesterday we put to rest our friend Dan Branton, TK-42911. Our role was that of a guard of honour. 10 Stormtroopers from the UK Garrison, followed behind the hearse on his final approach the to the church. On arrival we then carried on past to form an honour guard along the entrance as the attendees, family and finally Dan entered the church. Our job completed we retired to change and join the end of the service and complete our good byes. It was a privilege to take part in the days events, and I only hope Dan would approve. 38. In keeping with my tradition of lightning fast L2 and L3 submissions after approval, today I have prepared for you @Deployment Officer Team my L2 EI application (with some L3 photos) for the newly-established Beach Trooper. I know I'm blazing the trails with this submission, but hopefully I meet all the requirements as noted in the new CRL. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out! I'm always eager for feedback to improve my kits! UPDATE: I appear to be having some issues with my Photobucket account. If anybody has any tips on how I can remove the watermarks and regain access to my original images it would be much appreciated! Thanks! (@Sly11 and @gmrhodes13 I know you guys have worked on this during your forum cleanup project) Name: Caleb 501st Unit: Venator Squad, Georgia Garrison Helmet: ATA Works Swimsuit: Official CRL bottoms E-11 Blaster: Hellhounds Props (rubber) circa 2019 Height: 6' 0" (183 cms) Weight: 192 lbs (87 kilos) at time of photos. CRL: Beach Trooper Shout out to @TheRascalKing, TK-97253, TK-42077, TK-82077, TK-62345, Casey Kwock, @Morgi, @revlimiter, among many others, for whom I'm forever grateful. Full Body ** * I had some image rotation issues on this one. Sorry didn't have time for a real fix. Action Shot (for the EI Gallery) @gmrhodes13 Suit Details Note: It's unclear if the color of the suit is Humbrol 14 French Blue. It appears to be more of a cross between French and Mediterranean Blue. Definitely not Midnight Blue. Helmet Details Blaster Details Optional Accessories Proposal I know that CRL has only just been developed, but I thought I might take this opportunity to propose an amendment to the optional items currently approvable for this Beach Trooper. I know that screen references are a bit slim, but in the interest accessorizing this minimalistic trooper, I propose the addition of the optional items listed below. Note that I've preemptively modeled the implementation of these accessories for consideration by the appropriate authorities. OT-style thermal detonator (TD) OT-style pauldron (specific color open for discussion) Imperial binders (with belt-clip) * Once again, apologies for the image rotation issues below * * Action Photo (image rotation issue again) Please let me know if any of you have any feedback on any adjustments that the DOs may require for IE, or even Centurion. I figure I might as well shoot straight for the top and aim to be the first L3 Beach Trooper! If only I could look as good as @justjoseph63 at his beach shoot*. If anybody knows a caricature artist local to me or in the Atlanta area, please put me in touch! * * And that's all for now! If all goes well I hope to submit for Centurion very soon, and who knows, maybe I can finally get my first trading card and show off my dad bod. TK-75276 standing by

  39. So, you found us! Thinking about becoming a "real" Stormtrooper? Well you are in the right place, I promise. Welcome to the TRUE home of shiny (and sometimes not so shiny) white armor! While some may dive right in, others like to check things out and see what this crazy hobby is all about and learn about what it takes to join the 501st as a shiny white spaceman/woman. One thing I can promise you is that any questions you may have (no matter how strange you may think they are) will be answered in a friendly and supportive manner. We don't judge. Every single one of us has been in your position, and our goal is to assist you in any way we can. SO, it's time to stop lurking, introduce yourself and let us know how we can help you join the ranks and become a member of the 501st and FISD!

  40. I give permission for FISD to repost my photos on social media in an appropriate fashion. Troop 1, 2 and 3: Saskatoon Entertainment Expo May 5-7, 2023 / raised funds for the Pattison Children's Hospital. This is the most members ever at this event from the various clubs. The last few months have seen a lot of new people join as rebels, 501st or mandos. We raised funds for the children's hospital in Saskatoon. I'm going to give some background on this journey in the sound off thread however for now I will just say that life getting in the way of life may not have allowed this troop to happen. The week leading up to it I was flipping back and forth about even attempting it in part because I was being thrown into the deep end instead of a nice small first event. But I landed on the side of going and then the next thing you know I was there. I think in retrospect the deep end of the pool was the way to go as I got to do many jobs in a busy setting so learned to adapt and be flexible with everything very quick and for an OCD type of guy that says a lot! This one begs a caption. I took the last shift of the first evening because I wanted the least number of people around to make me nervous. Here I'm getting a pep talk (I think it was a pep talk) from TK-16818 @GilesWoodward. I was so up in my head at that moment I can't say for sure what he said. I don't even remember anyone there with a camera. Then to make matters worse as I walked out he made a big announcement about First Troop coming out so there was some applause and other commotion which made me self-conscience, but then I remembered that no one was going to see the horror on my face and I calmly walked to the photo booth area for my shift. First hurdle achieved! The rest of the photos are from various times throughout the three days. I think that Jawa was making a move for my blaster! TK-55810 is the other trooper that lives 5 minutes from me. She helped a lot the last few months with pictures and information on what to expect at a troop. By day 2 I was a bit less nervous about it all and I got a tip that allowed me to fit both my head and my glasses into the bucket at the same time which gave me enough confidence to walk around the immediate area a bit and interact. I had some people asking for selfies and was able to deliver some lines and get some laughs. I did find my lower back would get sore unless I moved around every few minutes. Standing in one place for too long is murder for me. By day 3 I was itching to get into that armor! Never thought I'd be saying that. I did more interactions as I tried to develop my character and hiked around the entire dealer area with one of our Imperial officers. I probably did about 2 hours of trooping that day and could have easily done more, but had to get ready for the trip home. My back was getting used to the feel of the armor and movement and in general I didn't find anything too uncomfortable or too hot. I did take note of a couple little things that I will let wear in a bit before making fitting adjustments. At one point a television camera was stuck in our faces and they asked the three of us above to have a conversation so we did a little adlib as I questioned them about being the rebels I was looking for. If this link works we're at about the 2:30 mark. No dialog was left in and it's in French but you can get the intent very clearly. https://www.facebook.com/icisaskatchewan/videos/960924468269825/ TK-34575 in the sandtrooper and his son. @@wook1138was instrumental in getting me to this point as he patiently answered dozens of questions. This guy wanted a photo as he used the chainsaw on our TIE fighter so I suggest we react as best we could. We let people take as many photos as they needed. A kid asked us to sign his book so we all did, but now that I see the title I'm not sure if that was such a good idea! Maybe just as well I didn't use my real name... Some of my favorite/interesting things that happened. I played a statue for a few minutes and watched as some people were taking a close look at me. Then I talked and they laughed saying they didn't think I was real then they wanted photos with me. I was walking behind a father and his little boy when the father said to his son, "Look who's behind you." and he turned around and was all smiles when I fist bumped him. I liked saying, "Everyone say Star Trek" in the photo booth when people were wearing starfleet shirts and lines like, "You need to take that again I had my eyes closed." and "Everyone frown." which all got laughs. Faiirly standard lines from most I know. We had props for people to use in the booth and one was a blaster so if a little kid picked that and stood beside me I would bend over and show him my blaster and say, "Look it's the same as mine." which they all seemed to enjoy. I even had the chance to get people out of the way with, "Move along, move along." I learned quite a bit about other costumes as we didn't have dedicated handlers so we did that job for each other. Helping the mandos in and out of their costumes made me feel for them. So many layers they were boiling most of the time. We had a fan in the booth which helped a lot for everyone. I must admit that I was grinning a lot under that bucket. It was a surreal experience. I saw myself as someone in a plastic bucket seeing the world in shades of green and people looking back at me were smiling and seeing a stormtrooper. Even looking at photos of me I can't believe it is me under there! Saturday night we had a multi-club supper which was great to get to know everyone even more and another member gave me a little welcome package of patches, coins and stickers! I was feeling special and welcomed by the group. I think the Saskatchewan gang is going to have a lot of good times together and there was a lot of that buzz around the table. I came back with some con crud cold, but am ready to go out for number 2 on the 27th of this month. Then there seems to be steady slate of available troops if I want them (and likely I'll want them). Really hard to put into words all the feelings this past weekend. Many of you have described the same thing but until I felt it for myself I couldn't fully appreciate it. Thanks for looking! Bart ************************************** Number 1 is going to be going up by the end of this weekend. Is a troop considered one event or is each day of the event its own troop? I asked the other guys and no one knew and none of them have a log here. Bart

  43. This is all in fun, as I have received several messages offering to help, but a lot of the time, this is how it feels. But that's okay, I enjoy my ability to give back to the detachment.
